The enemies have always been a massive part of diablo, it's called a hack and slash for a reason, most of the game consists of murdering monsters.
With this type of game, comes diversity. And Blizzard has always delivered on this, they've come up with tons of fun, frightening, and innovative monsters for the diablo series.
But what will they come up with for D3?
In short, what kind of enemy do you want to kill?
Throw your ideas out there ! How will your dream monster look ? Will it be frightening, comical, or bothersome? Will it have claws? Will it spew fire ? Will it rip off limbs? Will it eat babies? Who knows ?!

"One in every 10 million people can potentially have a headache from this pill." God forbid she is the 0.000000001% of having a headache.
I want to fight shielded death golams. A frontal assault type monster that is heavily armored in the front. It does fire and arcane magic attacks that do massive damage and swing blades like the thousand pounder during close quarters combat. Relatively slow, but they tend to move in small packs. They quickley respawn fast moving hounds lunatics that are willing to sacrifice themselves to protect the death golams. A rather difficult and strategic fight.

I really hope we get some actual strategic fights in D3, strategy took a backseat to overall damage output in D2 :/.

You enter a fair sized town and hear rumors about children being kidnapped. One mother witnessed the beast dragging her daughter off in a certain direction and tells you it was heading toward a old well outside of town. When you question other villagers about the well some say they hear strange noises echoing from below, some talk about foul smells coming out, a farmer tells you it's been dry for a long time now.
So you set off to the well, you find it and the rope and pulley but the bucket is no longer on the end of the rope and the end of the rope looks frayed, almost chewed.
You let the rope down and climb down the well into the dark damp shaft below. After reaching the bottom you notice a hole in the wall and claw marks around it. The ground is muddy still and covered with strange claw prints that look more animal than human.
You enter the tunnel through the broken wall of the well and follow for some time until you reach a larger dim lit cavern. You take a couple steps into the larger room and hear a cracking sound under your feet. Looking down it appears to be the bones of a small animal or perhaps even a child. You light a second torch and toss it in front of you a few feet. The glow reveals a horrific site. Mounds of bones, now obviously childrens bones some still wearing partially torn clothing and some still covered with rotting bits of meat.
Further ahead you hear a sobbing and then a scream. You walk toward the sound, all is silent now except the sickening sound of raw meat being feasted upon. The beast standing over the small child's body turns and looks at you it's eyes burning a shade of crimson. It's standing just at the edge of the light but that's enough for you to see the nearly six foot tall figure. The blood covering it's mouth, the large dagger like teeth and the claws at the end of the demons hands that could easily be small swords. It makes a low guttural growling sound at you and begins to charge you, it's skin a sickly dark green, and then the beast is upon you and the battle is at hand.
Seriously dude, that was f**cking awesome. I'd love to get a sight of that monster. I would be so mad at what it did, I would enjoy watching it die...SLOWLY...by my own effing sword.

Daemaro, I want to have your children because of this.
Seriously, I think my eyes just came.
That could have been the coolest thing I have ever read on the forums.
In short, this idea kicks ass.

Yeah that's part of the beauty of it. You may not have been able to save the kids before, but this'll be the end of the demons feast.
This would make for an interesting side quest in diablo 3. Maybe get a reward from the towns people for stopping the horrific massacre of their children.

This would make for an interesting side quest in diablo 2. Maybe get a reward from the towns people for stopping the horrific massacre of their children.
I guess you meant D3.
Yeah that's kinda the aim, a kickass side quest kinda like the countess. You could bring back the demons head as proof and explain what happened and then maybe the town would charge you like 10% less for items as a thanks.
And none of the silly diablo 2 zombies who walked alone and made silly "arrrrrgh" sounds.
Hell no - I want "Dawn of the dead a barbarian is trapped in a shopping mall and is surrounded by dead bodies" zombies.
I want tons and tons and tons of them. Everywhere. They'll come from underground, break through walls, chew on buildings (don't ask why) and try to zerg the player character as fast as a zombie can (which is not terribly fast).
Also they should be different. There should be adult zombies, old zombies, male zombies, female zombies, children zombies, politically correct zombies representing the depressed minorities... I want a lot of zombies, and I want the different!
Ooooh... and they can carry weapons too. But not as if they know how to use them, instead they'd just swing them around like the mindless walking corpses they are just to fall to my barbarians axe.
What I'm trying to say - Blizzard! Giev gooood undead plz! Thnx.
Oooh... and I want zombie kittens on whom I can stomp. Just cause I don't like kittens. They are evil.

~ All of us live in a cage, few of us see it. (S.F.) ~
I always liked to make a double swing barb in d2 and go to those carver camps in the stony field or the dark woods... you know the camps where there are like 10-30 carvers running around, with shamans and stuff...
I liked to go to the middle, wait untill all the carvers surrounded me, and then started double swinging their asses off.
I would like something similar to this to happen in d3, so the Fallens will do just fine
As we are aware, we have distructible environments. We can destroy a wall, and the rocks fall to the ground.
As Im writing this I actually am not sure about this, but it was way cool enough for me to post the idea.
We have the fallen who can respawn other fallen. How a bout a monster that brings life to lifeless rocks, you know like in one of the later difficulties, but INSIDE a dungeon like the one i was describing in my "Map construction" thread here:
at first I didn't think this would be a good idea, but when you place this idea in cunjunction with emilemil1's response on post number 19, I actually thought this would be kind of bad ass.
Thats a great idea !!
Man, it could create golems out of stone, which could then either repair the wall, destroy more walls to make more golems, or go beat the shit out of the player, brilliant !!!
Would make a pretty epic boss battle. The fight could take place in a room full of stone pillars, kinda like the mines of moria from the first Lord of the Rings movie. the player could either avoid the pillars altogether, or risk smashing them down to do some extra damage to the monster, but then would have to deal with the spawned minions.

My dream monster is a undead that looks like a floating grim reapers.
They always come in band of 5 and keeps moving in circles like a dancing group. They allways try to catch you inside of the circle and then start cast a powerfull death spell that drains HP, so you gotta kill then to stop the ritual. So whenever you kill one of then, the hp loss effect becomes weaker until you kill then all. If you stay outside of the circle, they keep chasing you at the same time they cast some fire spells.
Another "dream monster" would be a Hook Fiend. They are tall and very nimble demons filled with spikes and black exoskeletons. Instead of a head he would have a hook. Then his special move is toss his head in your direction (he gotta a chain mechanism in the neck). If he hits you, he pull you and starts to attack with claws. If he miss, he head stay on the ground for a moment and then you can hit his neck for a almost instant kill. For the other side, his almost imortal if you do not explore his weakness because he keeps evading your attacks.
