That doesn't make any sense whatsoever, either go disagree with everyone disagreeing with the new art direction by saying "its not gonna be this bad" or "its just been announced" or "have faith in Blizzard" or "its been peace for 20 years" or "we've only seen 0.1%, give them time", or whatever lame argument and thus what the fans ask for couldn't possibly take longer then 1 month, or you agree with whoever disagrees with the new art direction and thus agree Blizz screwed D3 up and needs some serious revision in style, or you just never liked the original Diablo art direction to begin with, wich would then make you a hypocrite. So, wich is it?
I think you're confused. The world isn't just black and white. I can feel that some changes will negatively effect the game, but still agree with a few of the changes. You should recognize that the petition in itself is too all encompassing for changes, it leaves no grey areas for people to flex on.
In this case I'm against the petition. If it had been something simple, like bring back the light-radius system, I would have supported it totally. Unfortunately, it also requires that I support a change to the artist direction/stylized graphics. So now, I fight against it. I'd rather sacrifice my light radius system then watch the game be delayed for artistic reasons.
Not to mention most people against the colorful/bright look to the game can't seem to get it that the developers did play the old games. They saw this so-called gothic/dark look and realized it wasn't what they remembered it like.

For me, I personally think that the new style of Diablo is great, it has a nice almost painted finish it to that looks great.
The only problem for me is it's too colorful and a lot of the color schemes were taken from WoW. Unfortunately, this takes away from the gothic, cryptic feeling of the Diablo series, and I sincerely hope that Blizzard listens to the fans and removes the WoW stains that have been placed upon Diablo 3.

If Diablo 3's pally is like WoW's....I'm going to kill something.
I think developer's playing the prequels helps greatly when making the successor. Could you imagine if they didn't? Besides that, combined with the experienced team that is making the game, I think it will turn out fine if left in their hands.
Although, I must say I'm arguing on the losing side. With as much publicity as the petition is getting, some changes will be made, although maybe not as drastic as the petition asks for.
Oh, and even though it's a post from the other one:
"New ideas? I think you're in the wrong thread amigo, or just another lame strawman user. Either way, GO."
It's not a strawman argument. I was comparing the artistic direction to a new idea and all the people that disagreed with the petition as the other players. I was frustrated at the time and chose to poke fun at your line about people saying screw Diablo fans. I am a Diablo fan as well you know.
Anyway, I'm going to take a break from this. I can't seem to keep my head above the muck on this one.

Things should have an overcast, but still colorfull look to them. In Diablo II grass in the Blood Moor was still green, but they had a dark overcast to them, like they're wet. The grass we've seen in the Diablo III screens is a very light green, very bright, with no shadows or darkness on them.
Also have a problem with the scale. In the concepts and pictures everything is larger than need be, hate to say it but Diablo III looks like they tried to splice the genes of Diablo II and WoW
Initially i had reservations about the art and colours used etc. However, after giving it some time to sink in and some thought to it, i actually like the look of what i saw in the game play trailer re art etc.
Too much darkness everywhere and the same tone of colours becomes boring to look at. You can still achieve a dark ambiance without drowning out all the colour.
Also to note that we saw like 20 mins of the game, who the hell knows what the rest of the game looks like. From the looks of it the gameplay was at the start of the game The designers may have already considered this factor for later levels.

Also: I love 0donthe1st's stuff. That's exactly how I'd like it to look.
I think the art department got a little carried away. Their memories were saying "dark and gritty", but when they looked at the games, they saw colour all over the show. So they thought "wow, colour's fine, let's throw it in there".
And they went too far.
There are only two things they need to do, imo.
Make it darker. Especially in dungeons, but outside as well. I don't mind the occasional rainbow, or sunny field (Sanctuary has had 20 years of optimism, after all) but only at the very start. Let's descend to the pits of filth quickly, yeah? Get rid of the random colour. Especially in the dungeons, again. What's with the green and blue light coming from nowhere? Get rid of it, it looks silly.
Sure, the armour could be a little less wow, and a little more DII, but that's not really an issue, we've only seen two armour sets. I'm sure they've got that part covered.
All that said, I have faith in Blizzard. I'm going to like this game no matter how many rainbows and unicorns I encounter.
here is the game for you : www.hellokittyonline.com

But I would like them to bring back Light Radius, and if I don't see some Fallen walking around, I might have to choke someone.

I really don't want that song to apply to Diablo 3.
LMAO.
Lawl, lol, rofl, etc. etc.
