To be honest - I don't exactly belive that the agreement within the community of which you are speking could be achieved. Too many hot - headed people around. And in my eyes the petiton is just a way to voice my opinion.
But I feel your pain in that the whole community suddenly went into full fledged Civil War in 60 seconds....
But trust me - alot of opinion on your side of the fence hurts as much as "not true diablo fans" rant some love to do.
Oh, I know. Many people here don't debate, they argue. Rather than constructive discussion, they simply attack eachother. It'd probably help if mods could keep better control on trolls and such, but they can't be everywhere at once.
But I can understand that some people don't feel this change - I can accept that some care about the gameplay, the loot, the fun of killing hordes of monsters. Can you accept that other people care about the design, the style of the graphics and the visible change?
I don't mind the fact that some are against the change. My problem is many of them don't seem to acknowledge those that are comfortable with the changes. They claim that people who accept the new artwork or graphics are not true fans of the series or even worse are working against the game.
As for me I fall somewhere in the middle or your triangle, although closer to the gameplay aspect, even though I argue against the petition. For me the petition is just unacceptable, it's like going behind the back of the community. I know that seems confusing, but that's how I feel. It's because instead discussing it and coming to an agreement inside the community it demands a unilateral change to a darker theme. Some of the altered screens looked good, but some of the altered screens actually looked worse.
I don't really see the opposing side as stupid, we just disagree. The bad part is that the petition has polarized us, and thus we see eachother adversaries rather than a community.
Since when... and according to whom? If you are reading the forums I would hope this little theory of yours is beginning to develop cracks. When has art direction not mattered!?
Only matters to some. Many don't care one way or the other.
Blizzard is trying to make a sequel to Diablo. Unfortunately, many people seem opposed to the idea based on the art direction and graphics currently presented in the game. Honestly, their are many people who are satisfied with what they've seen. And I love how you brush off the fans of Diablo that are satisfied with what they see by saying that they want a World of Diablocraft. I think most of this anti-art movement is an overreaction. When I get to the final boss and it's a giant Carebear rather than a demon, then I'll raise hell.
It's unfortunate that some are already dead set against playing the game, it looks like a lot of fun. Good luck finding something else to spend your time on.
I think that the game needs to take a more daemonic standpoint, stuff like the witch doctor should be replaced, but, it's not that bad, I mean, as long as it has enough evil shit... And I also think that the blue light in the dungeons should be red...
I disagree with this, mainly because their are other monsters in the world besides demons. The Witchdoctor represents primal force and I like that.
It just doesn't, at least to me, make any sense whatsoever if this is supposed to be the very same barbarian as in D2. Did he just mysteriously loose.. well.. everything about himself? From the same region, tribe; Sure. He's essentially the same kind of barbarian. But he can't be THE same barbarian.
Well it could be that the things he saw and suffered while fighting the Prime Evils scarred him badly. He lost himself, maybe to insanity or depression, and has only recently regained himself. During that time he lost everything and gained many things in return.
I believe Blizzard mentioned something about reevaluting and changing the classess. I think, they mentioned classess that seemed evil, assassins, and necromancers. Maybe we'll see the Necromancers as evil now? I mean we saw that necromancers were falling during act5, so what could another twenty years after suffering the insanity of the PrimeEvils do to them?
I personally love him. At first I was a little adverse to him, but the Witchdoctor grew on me. I'll admit the random Firebomb seems a little out of place, but we don't know his full list of spells yet.
If it stays this way or ever in close to what it looks like now.
THEN I AM GOING NAKED IN THE GAME no pants no shirt no diablo 3 armor
I doubt it. You'll wear the armor because you won't want to fall behind the curve. You might try early into the game, but by the second act you'll give in. You are more likely to begrudgingly play your way through the first act, find out you actually enjoy the game despite the graphics, and get hooked on the game like the rest of us.

It reminds me of TheSuffering.

Yeah, I was referring to what was presented to us at WWI. It's really late for me and my need for sleep is overtaking my ability to type what I mean.

Also the rabbits don't really bother me, I won't notice them while I'm mauling large groups of enemies.

I especially like SoulHarvest and Mass Confuse.
