So for some while now, I thought of how to make legendary gems more appealing. As a result, I feel like gems should have another level in order for more incentive to use them. Having them at Rank 50 gives players the desire to do well in terms of solo or group play especially in support and dps roles. Anyway, here's my thoughts for improvements:
Note, this is just my thoughts. But I am interested in what you guys think. If the developers do agree at some point, the effects could require tweaking in order to even out power.
so spend a lot of resources on new gem effects only a tiny part of the playerbase get to use ? Less than 10 % if not even 5.
Maybe lvl 50 if they added another way of leveling so more people could get it. As it is now. Most people get stuck at around 35. Some people can do 40-45 and a verry few can do 45 +
Yeah it's a very cool idea but making it so you can actually level your gems that high is fairly difficult. Can't see it happening anytime soon but would be cool if it happened in the future.
Excellent idea. It would be an incentive for more players to push GR progression to level up their gems. The statistics you come out with are based on the current system. Ofcourse people don't care much about getting the gems up after 25/35/40+ since it just gives you very little extra. But those 50 goals seems pretty fun. It would definintely add some kind of endgame feeling for alot of players. to extend their gaming experience in diablo3, where they otherwise might have stopped playing.
There is some interesting feedback I am seeing here. My intention of rank 50 is for people who want to grind harder, it's not really an upgrade, but it does help in the long run. Maybe at some point in the future, upgrades to gems similar to this will be implemented if grifts become a bit easier as I mentioned in my last post about balancing progression.

They are nice. But blizz wont do this, unless GR50 is attainable by majority of the player base.
