Blow darts have a range up to 50 ft, compared to...a medieval longbow which could go up to 750 ft. I really dont see blow darts as being a long ranged weapon. However I could see them having some effect like massive slow on target or a super powerful but delayed poison kick.
I didn't compered to bows and even said Blowdarts would be a weapon. It's just a skill.
It's a long range skill compered to the Lacust Swarm, Fire Skull ( wich both is a avarage range skills) and the Firebats (short range skill). 50 ft is enough to travel through all the screen right?
Talk about those 750ft is non sense in diablo game that no battle happens in such distance.

Realistically speaking you have a point...but in the real world, you would choose a longbow over a blowdart because of its longer range. In Diablo you can't see much farther than 50 ft so players wont make that choice. What's more unrealistic, not being able to see more than 50 ft (because of the perspective), or not having a long range weapon actually have more range (because the short range ones go to the edge of the screen already)? Either way there is some unrealism going on. Personally I think it might be more fun to limit the range proportionally for weapons that would have shorter range in real life so that range of a weapon becomes a more meaningful thing.
Is 50 ft enough to travel all the screen? Good question. The tiles in this screenshot allowed me to determine the vanishing point and hence the perspective of the ground-plane. Then I assumed that the central zombie was 6 feet tall. Based on those assumptions, I was able to plot 3 perspective-correct circles showing the 10ft, 25ft, and 50ft radius from the zombie. As you can see, 50 ft is almost enough to see across the screen but not quite.
Don't mistake me for a fool who does not want to be ridiculed. I did not say that so I would not get "ridiculed", I said it because it's true. If you have a problem with that, go act smart elsewhere; you hold no chance here.
Let's just agree to the fact that just because you played assassin and barbarian doesn't mean you have naught bias.

Yes he would be, what the fuck?
I dont understand how you can say that when they could make the actual skill about as powerful as telekinesis if they wanted to.
That is THE only thing that could possibly make this game cooler. I think about from the time I wake 'till the time I sleep and dream of it. I would fight a friggin' balrog for it. So, in short...

If you can base that ludicrous idea on something concrete, something which I can view as convincing, then I will shut up. You simply saying "just because you don't play the Necro, doesn't mean you don't have any bias". Unless you can prove that I am, shut up.
They can, but that wasn't the original post. Again, shut up.

This is not anywhere close to a personal attack on you. In my experience nobody is unbiased when discussing what the best class or race is in a computer game. I used to play WC3 and when people would lose, they would tend to say "Night Elf is so OP" or "It's impossible to beat UD with NE". And people would tend to not say "I won that game because the race I played is so overpowered." Psychologically that is a good thing, because people tend to attribute their successes to themselves and their failures to things that are outside their control, this causes increased self-esteem. Increased self-esteem is good because that keeps the suicide rate down.
Also there is the fact that saying "Necro is the best" is certainly an opinion and opinions always have bias.

I get your point.
The problem is diablo is allready a very unrealistic game.
Longbows are not weapons used in hunting situations, it was used in open battle (you cannot get your max range with a longbow indoor, once the floor would intercept the arrow). Diablo is a dungeon crawling game, thats why we have such perspective. So the use of a long war bow to kill skeletons (wich should be almost imuny to bows) inside a basement is totally unrealistic.
The same happens to weapons like Halberds and Spears (and even the leap attack skill of the barbarian ! Can you imagine the leap inside the maggots lair ?).
Diablo is allready full of unrealism.. so i don't care for those things anymore you know ?
The Blowdart is not, but a cool way to implement a ''Poison Bolt'' in the WD.
Also congratilations for the work you have man. Very nice job in this pic you posted =)

Yes it is.
I've never played online, so I wouldn't eve think of saying those. From playing the game for 8 years, and dissecting every last nipple hair of every single character, I know my fair share, so acting all high and mighty, is indeed insulting. I don't care what other people say, I'm assuring you that I hold no bias in my judgment.
Your entire rambling about success and failure is laughable, since you know absolutely nothing about what you're talking about, or me. I repeat..I've never played PvP, and I never attribute my lose to things outside my control. Though feel free to spew out false presumptions if it helps your already defeated argument, nice going reaching that far.
The most formidable D2 class is a hammerdin. And the only reason hes so strong is because the numbers in the blessed hammer skill are just wrong. It should 've a much lower damage once it's a Magic Damage spell, that attacks the many targets at once and it belongs to a character that can get a huge amount of def, a unlimited mana pool, high resistance to all elements and a good HP base (so it's a very strong dps skill, that cannot be well resisted, in a very resistant character).
So a Blowdart only would disturb the games balance if it was too strong. It's like say soc is imba because she got a melee oriented spell (enchant). Wd would not be imba becuse he got a long range spell u.u'
All it is, is numbers. Numbers that can be changed. A slow firing, yet potent poison dart can do the exact same damage as a rapid fire, weak poison dart. Any talk about a blowdart skill ending up OP and not being patched immediately is absolutely ridiculous. And honestly, the only way it could end up OP is if it causes a long enough stun to make it impossible for the opponent to escape between firings.

Actually the hammerdin does not do Magic Damage as the spell description says, it does straight damage - meaning that 100% MAgic Damage immunity has no effect at reducing the damage. No other spell in D2 acts like this, its a known "bug", and you are correct that he is the most broken class in D2 by a landslide. Thats why I loved it
Blow Dart as the visual effect of a poisonous skill, like Bone Spear for the Necro in D2, OK.
As the weapon which gives bonuses to skills (like Necro Wands and Heads), screw Blow Darts. What the WD needs is a pair of MARACAS!!! Chaka-chaka-bum, chaka-chaka-bum! Crazy'n scary voodoo tribal dances FTW!!!

Druid: Fuck if I know..who in the right mind plays a Druid?
Finally someone who sees reason! You have great potential, son!

That was the first time you ever said you didn't PVP and the first time you said you never played online (which kind of kills your credibility imo). Saying I repeat doesn't blind me to that fact. Also if you are playing texas hold 'em and someone hits a huge hand on the river, you would blame yourself I guess.
Also, as you have seen, people have a different opinion from you (hammerdin) so who is completely unbiased? I don't believe it is possible for two people to look at the same thing and draw different conclusions unless they have different perceptions and therefore are biased. However, there are certainly varying degrees and I wouldn't throw out the whole court system because people have different perceptions.
Anyways someone had a spot on analogy. Just because the sorc has a melee skill doesn't make her imbalanced.

So according to your oh-so lovely philosophy, a man who has never been the president of the USA, can never really judge Obama?..Are you high or something? Seriously..are you high? Opinions very, and can have no bias. In my eyes, in my opinion, but with no bias. Get that through your mile thick skull.
You're really just chewing off 1 nanometer of the meter long sentence I gave on the subject. Learn to read simple English, then come and act smart here.

According to my philosophy no man can judge Obama completely unbiased (including past presidents). Every man can of course judge him with their own opinion but that opinion is biased. I believe this because in my opinion each person has had a unique set of circumstances and experiences which affect that judgement. I'm in no way implying that makes everyone's opinion void just because each one is formed by a biased viewpoint.

Fuck it, I won't even bother this time. You keep destroying yourself.
I thought blowdarts were primarily used in South American culture, where as the Witch Doctor seems to be more African?
A poison dart skill would be cool though.
Stereotypes often blur reality...
And persoanlly I don't like the idea too much, I mean there have certainly been worst ideas presented, but I believe the WD should be much more focused on spells than attacks. This reminds me of the Pus Spitter crossbow for the Necro. Cool for about 5 minutes then you just use a wand again...
