Whimsyshire Also to Benefit From Density Changes
With the upcoming monster density changes coming in 1.0.8 Whimsyshire will be among the zones that get increased mob population. Arcagnion explains the kind of balance Blizzard is looking for when adjusting the monster density.
As part of our preparation for the upcoming mob density changes we’re working on for patch 1.0.8, we’ve been busy testing each region of the game in order to ensure that the mob density feels more consistent across all Acts (including beloved Whimsyshire), and that you could farm efficiently in an area of your choice. We don’t want Whimsyshire to be the “must go” place, nor do we want it to be an extreme loss in efficiency.
That said, once patch 1.0.8 goes up on the PTR, we look forward to hearing your feedback on how each area feels.
Idea For the Treasure Goblin Alert
The mob alerts, coming with Patch 1.0.8, include a Treasure Goblin alert that will notify the player's current team mates about a Goblin's presence and its location. However there are a few user-submitted suggestions about the radius and a secondary alert that are need due to the Treasure Goblin's running speed.
One quick thought is set a secondary alert radius for the goblin, just like the one that makes him run when you run by (without even hitting him), but with a larger radius (let's say 20 feet? 40 feet? they'll work it out) that causes the new minimap alert to go off, but not the goblin to start running.
Like the idea of the Treasure Goblin radius ping, will pass it along to the team. Also if there is any feedback on the type of matchmaking tags let us know!
Whether you're a Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, or Wizard, your job is to kill demons. Maybe you're guided by the spirits. Maybe the taste for vengeance compels you. Or, maybe you just want to prove your place in the world, to forge your own path and destiny. No matter your motivation, it's fair to say your duty in Diablo III is to mow down as many minions as Nephalem-ly possible.
But some of them. Some you just kill for fun.
For this week's Community Commentary, we give a shout-out to Reignmaker and his thread on the Diablo III forums, in which he asks players to identify the monsters they enjoy killing the most. So far, we've seen everything from goatmen to Whimsyshire unicorns. And, of course, who doesn't love obliterating a few fallen lunatics?
Kill ALL the lunatics!
How about you, though? What's your favorite creature to crush? And why do their deaths bring you such satisfaction? Is it their tactical prowess, their piercing screams, their death animations? Let us know by leaving a comment below, or head over to Reignmaker's thread in the forums!
Tokio's Tri-Gen Palm Monk Build
Tokio has created a very interesting Monk build that incorporates 3 different spirit generators. With it he's managed to down Ghom on MP10 in just 25 seconds! He created a topic about it, located here. Watch the video below that demonstrates the build and drop him a comment to let him know what you think!
There was no one Art Director. Lead Character artist right now works for a strategy browser games company. From the lesser artists only Marc Tattersall is still in the industry working on Star Trek Online and Neverwinter Nights. All the other artists are no longer making video games or are working freelance, with all their previous titles being widely unknown, except for the guys that went to make Hellgate: London and later Torchlight.
You seem to have missed my point though. All the things I mentioned earlier are as colorful as the eye can see.
I'm not sure if this was in an interview with David Brevik or the Schaefer Brothers but one of them said that they would love to buy the Diablo I.P. if they could and had the money.
I feel that the current Blizzard only sees the Diablo series as nothing more than a product to exploit and make money out of, as well as just experiment and take big risks on (such as with the inclusion of a RMAH as well as porting their first ever console game in years).
Now I'm not against companies making money off of their I.P. but I would like them to make money off of games the right way, I want them to really put their hearts and souls into it and treat franchise as a work of art that set the precedent for all modern ARPGS rather than simply a generic money maker.
The only way I can see this happening, is if people actually don't buy the Diablo 3 expansion, and just let it slowly die off, maybe in 10 years or so later when the franchise have become nothing but a shell of it's former self. The I.P. can be bought by true Diablo fans and be recreated into a true successor to Diablo 2, until then we are left with what we have in Diablo 3, love it or hate it.
When I see what the creators of Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 have managed to pull off in recent years (in particular Torchlight), I'm really getting sick of all these "oh, I wish the original people would still work on the game" comments.
I have played almost every RPG game that was available on computer in the past 25 years, and Torchlight 2 is among the worst when it comes to telling a story. There is no story in Torchlight 2. Even Tetris has a better story than Torchlight 2.
Same for the color argument - people are often complaining about the "light colors" of Diablo 3 and comparing it to the "dark theme" of Diablo 2. Then we see comparisons of D2 act 3 with D3 act 2. Well done. Nothing, absolutely nothing in D3 is as bright and colorful as the entire act 2 in D2. And if you just look at the end of D2 classic, where you walk through lava areas so bright they hurt your eyes and Lord De Seis's wizards are throwing rainbows at you... compare this to D3 and the very level before Diablo that makes your screen glow dark red like you're walking through an area covered in blood. Really? REALLY?
If you think D3 is not dark enough, turn down monitor brightness, skip act 2, install DarkD3, or play with sunglasses.
Or: just install D2 or TL2, do a full playthrough, and then go back to D3. And you'll notice that D3 beats both games in terms of being dark - by a mile. (Been there, done that.)
Are you implying that D3 had a good story or something?
No. But the people hailed in this thread as "original Diablo authors who should've bought the franchise" have managed to publish games that had no story at all. So I really don't see what justifies the assumption that they would've created a better story for D3 either.

I think Diablo 3 has a great story, Yeah its not the worlds best sure, but it did have me asking questions. What will happen to Leah's soul? Who will reclaim the black soul stone? Where's Adria? Are you going to save lyndons brother from prison? and so much more.
I am going to say your just some Fool that does not care about story and lore anyways. If you did you wouldnt say shit cause its clear you have no idea what your talking about lol. fuck off Troll.

Ha. Bagstone.
They're now making Torchlight and Marvel Heroes. And one is director at Disney.

I believe he was implying Torchlight had none.
