They said they're only working on the content now. So obviously they have most if not all of the engine code finished.
Yes indeedy, the hardcode is finished.
Seems to me it's down to polishing now. Tweaking spells, stats, some quests possibly. I suspect there's no actual building-from-the-ground-up left to the development.
Uhh, but I'm being optimistic to hope for an early release date...
Although SC2 looked done last year and it still doesn't even have an "official" date.
Now watching the video once again, and acualy listening to him insted of just nerdgasm'ing all over my self. i would take my vote back and put it to 56-65%

They have the first act and all the characters are playable. Level design is the most time consuming though. And they haven't said if they have completed all the items yet so I'll make a optimistic guess of about 40%.
I saw a video on youtube, the lead developer talks about how they need to work on content now. He said that Act 1 is complete. They also have more characters on their blizzard version of game which they did not show at the invitational. Its on youtube somewhere. He also talks about why he chose to make it colorful, yet emotionally dark. I think its a fantastic game, I can't wait to play it!
The engine core and the programming is done, now they are working on content.
ie: class skills, monsters, dungeons, quests, npc, cinematics, items, dialogues, changing colors because too many people are complaining.
I voted 46-55%, The core mechanics are up and running, from here I think it's more tedious work, like adding items, quests and skills. Technically I think that they are about 25% done from a shipping ready game, but since the larger more essential parts seem done, and the details are the part that seems unfinished I vote for about a 45-47% completion.

It's above 50% and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.
They said they have the characters basically done and in game, along with their skills. They said the first act is near complete and that they are focusing on cinematics and content now.
Content is by far the fastest part of development. They'll complete acts every couple months I bet.
The tough part is over. Writing, creating the core engine, incorporating 3rd party software, etc takes up a lot of time and that's all said and done.
They have all the mechanics done already. Which takes longer...building a car engine or designing a car engine. All the programming for the physics/rules for game play are already completed, everything else is just imagination, plot, terrain, and probably a few things that will need some extra attention. Id say about 60% complete.
they already said that theyve been working on it for about 2 1/2 years now, and they said they have about 1 1/2 years left so... about 65 percent is how it works out i guess
on that 52 min. interview video or whatever they did say they were about 5x% done with the game. They also said they have been working on it for about 4 years now. So if it took 4 years for about 50%.... then...... :-/ Hopefully the next half of the game doesnt take as long to complete. They did have to create the new engine its using and stuff so thats probably what took up a lot of time.
