I just hope that players can't max out almost every single skill, or else everybody will be exactly the same.
I seriously hope you have more faith in Blizz than that... there is no way in hell they would let that happen other wise there would be no need for tree's, you'd just be given free spells every level.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
I like level 20 skill trees because you have more choice because you can put more in a skill.
I'd mind if they didn't have this or something similiar but it wouldn't be the end of the world.
I just want synergies and the ability to make alot of builds. (FUN BUILDS...)

I have lost a lot of faith in Blizzard in the past 24 hours. Call me crazy, but I am considering buying WoW instead of waiting for a game that looks like that (Judging by the video).

Well dude, you can if you want, just go find something you do while you wait.
You might be dissapointed or not when it comes out FINALLY but, just do something while you wait man. It'll be a while anyways, I started my own game, and I'm modelling stuff currently and believe me, it takes A LONG time

I'm just disappointed. SSBB was a big let down for me, and I don't want D3 to be a big let down for me also. I am very worried right now. I am more worried right now than I would be if I was to fight Floyd Mayweather.
I really liked the original skill tree system personally, with all skills having the potential to go up to 20, and total of only 110 available skill points with all quests completed and at level 99 you had to be smart about skill point investing. It added a little more skill in planning what your final character would use. The original system also allowed for a great deal of unique and non-obvious character builds. Who would ever expect a Paladin to use Smite as his main skill? I'm sure it seemed pretty crappy at first, but because every skill can go up to 20, someone must have done it realized it was one of the best skills in the game.

I'm just posting my opinion. If I cannot post my opinion, than why should I post at all?
I apologize "I really like that method, and I hope it returns. Having each skill based on a "20" point maximum really spreads out the playing field."
Better...?
Much. When I hear people saying Blizzard wants to ruin something after the game was announced for a day I feel really bad for those hardworking devs. Just because they want to bring in something new doesn't mean it is going to RUIN the game...
What is the point of changing the potion system, and inventory? I think they should be more focused on the actual game play, and systems such as trading.

The potion system totally needs some kind of change. The inventory is just broken. Jigsaw puzzles take too much time, so do town portals, keys, and charms are rigged.
You may love these aspects. I hate them. So don't harp on Blizz please.

I'm just getting very worried. I don't want to be similar to literally every other play in terms of skills. I don't want to have to look at those graphics constantly, and I am not sure if Blizzard will make the right choices.
I don't care as long as you only need to be in the right level and put at least 1 point in the prerequisites skills and doesn't need "20 points in that tree" and "5 points in the prerequisite skill" like in WoW so you can invest in the next skill.
In WoW you can't 'save' points because it won't really help you, in D2 you could.
I really liked that method too. For some reason the Blizzard staff feel it is necessary to ruin what we once loved.
Ok, now, because I'm in just the right mood, and you are talking like a jackass, I'm going to make you feel stupid.
Blizzard, didn't ruin what you "once loved". It's still there. IT'S DIABLO 2. They didn't ruin it, they made it.
Now, there is no way that you could have possibly "once loved" Diablo 3. The game wasn't even announced until 2 days ago.
If you want to continue doing what you "Once Loved", go for it. Play Diablo 2. Its still there.
As for the skill tree, it depends on how many skills there are per tree per class. If its more than thirty, limiting some to 5(in particular masteries)Seems perfectly reasonable. We don't really know enough about the skill try to be able to say. Ultimately, I think blizzard will do whatever they think will provide the best game, and we should have an open mind to it.
I like the new way. In D2 there was many skills you didn't want to invest a lot of points so why have all the 20? There was even some skills that you could have maxed, but there was no point since you started to get diminishing returns, you put 1 more point but didn't gain anything and the next one would raise it 1%.

what is the new system?
Not all skills can be maxed out at the same level. Some are maxed out at level 10, and others at level 5.
I really liked that method too.
A barbarian can effectively use:
Smash+Whirlwind+Charge combo (seen in gameplay video)
This combo so nice, its better than doing just whirlwind all the time
Leap is AoE which makes it useful to use.
Just plain awesome!!

Will the skills that can only be maxed out to level 5 be viable into the game? Or are these skills like ultimates?
