I went to New York Comic Con on Saturday, April 19 to meet Richard A. Knaak at the Tokyopop booth. Got two of my Diablo: The Sin War trilogy books signed by him. He gave me a tour through Pocket Books, Tokyopop and Upper Deck booths to meet a lot of people and grab their presentation cards. Made some good connections there thanks to Richard.
I saw Aaron Rosenberg and Keith R.A. DeCandido. Talked for a bit and got books signed. I talked with Tokyopop Director, Manga Development Jeremy Ross and he is an avid Blizzard games player from World of Warcraft to Starcraft and Diablo. Jeremy asked me what I thought Blizzard would do if they announced a Diablo game. I said, I personally think it would be a Diablo RPG in 3D. And maybe later on, a MMO. Think of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne as the platform for the MMO. That's just my personal view on things. Expand the lore some bit, then do a MMO.
I requested him to do a Diablo Manga. Seems there weren't plans for one, and it all depends on Blizzard. Talked with Richard A. Knaak later and asked if there would be new Diablo novels from him. There is something in early stages years after the Sin War. With all the noise in the background, I missed some of what he said, but clearly heard the name Zayl the Necromancer. I will update once I get more details on this Diablo novel.
I wrote a lengthy journal of what happened to me at New York Comic Con if you are interested.
Sounded like you've had a blast at the comic con from what I read, thanks for the heads up on the book releases. Conventions are always a real hoot, I just recently attended an anime convention called anime detour a few weeks ago, had a lot of fun there, it was in a rather small hotel with about 3,000 to 4,000 people, so it was a bit stuffy, and if there's going to be a blizzcon this year I will probably be attending that too, pending on overall expenses.
One of these days I'll have to head to a comic con to check it out for myself, you made it sound like a lot of fun.
I think so. I dunno, but, I've always had the impression that Zayl is an important character that will continue to have stories told about. I must have got that impression from somewhere.
but yay, now all I have to do is wait. lol. always.

WoW fans are nerds. Diablo fans are freaks.
