And Catholics are trying to enforce their religious beliefs in the form of law, bah. And I'm not even sure what a Catholic woman would do after she got pregnant from rape if she was given the choice of abortion.
And as sad as this may be, Siaynoq, I'd be willing to bet that you're one of these folks.
Nope. I'm not religious at all. I was merely saying that despite a lot of bad things religious groups have done in the past, they have also done a lot of good things too. But a hardcore secularist like you can't even acknowledge that cause you're so obssessed with how stupid you think these people are. So you have religious fanatics, sure, they are one extreme. You are the other extreme that is just as blinded by your beliefs as they are. And as long as maintain your tone of extremism, I know there is no use trying to argue anything with you.

There's no need to get angry, fella. But isn't calling religious people stupid a form of protest against their beliefs? And do you adhere all blame of killing in the name of God toward religion? Do you not think there simply is a large number of feeble-minded people that can be brainwashed in a number of ways? From religious zealotry to blatant neoliberal secularism?
You've been saying that religion is a stupid reason for ANYTHING. And I gave you some examples of how religon-based decisions have helped lead the way in helping people on numerous fronts. Yet, you still insist on throwing a fit, and even claiming you know the sole reason why they go to church.

You weekend church going warriors make me fucking sick. You're the ones who give religion a bad name.
It's like you're assuming that all these weekend church goers are evil people. Well okay, how seldom should a person go to church until it's okay with you? What constitutes the ideal church goer for you that doesn't make you fucking sick?
I need you to go back and read some of the shit you've been saying. Read it out loud so you can hear how asinine it sounds. Then maybe we can start calling each other names again. Ass.

See, you're the one that should go back and read again. Church isn't stupid because it's a place people go to worship. And I have nothing against those who go to church for the right reason. But think about this. Think about how many people are sitting in that church every Sunday that don't want to be there. Think about the people sitting in church who would judge you if you showed up and ragged clothes. If God doesn't care what you wear as long as you love, and he doesn't, why should these "righteous" church goers get to judge. They shouldn't but they do and it's not just a few people, it's almost everyone. The sad state of the matter is, church isn't for people to go and share their love, its where people go to look like they care. It's not somewhere people want to be, its somewhere people go to make up with their lack of faith for the rest of their time. Everyone there is fake. And sure you can argue else wise but think about it. I've been in many churches and have been to church with many different people and it's no different anywhere. You can say that your community and church aren't like that but let's just face it, if you really think that, you're naive.
Well whatever, that's your opinion. I consider it a person the moment its conceived
Well, whatever, it's your consideration.

I don't know about that... religions for the most part are full of morality and the drafters of the constitution sure saw that as some of our laws reflect basic moral beliefs of many religions.
Well, the thing is, most religions, especially Chrisitian and some Asian ones, follow the same thing in terms of moral-like laws. But there are some Christian and Asian religions who don't oppose abortion.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
Why would the woman even want another one if she's aborting this one in the first place?
Em, what does this have to do with this? Are you saying each woman is mandated to have a child? Ok, that is totally BS.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
I said he'd take care of the kid, not necessarily have custody of it. Pay a buttload of money to the mother of the kid for child support or something like that in addition to getting a load in his butt in prison.
There is not amount of money to be paid that can replace a father. And many kids without father end up cheezy.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
So let's just kill all the poor people that grow up in terrible environments too. Anyone that steals something or is a bad kid should be put to death because we don't need them in our society. Haha, knowing you, you probably wouldn't think that's a bad idea.
Yeah, I guess you got me right here. I don't think poor people should be given welfare. Only food. So that they could lift their butts of the floor and get a job. And people who grew in terrible environments are usually criminals, they all sit in jail.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
Probably because people can relate to religion in some way. I'm sure everyone on this forum at least knows what many religions are basically about even if they don't follow them.
I don't relate to religion, I relate to humanism and collective egoism when I think what is right and what is wrong, which is why all the little tips and laws in the Bible don't mean too much to me. Bible is way too old, you know.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
The murder of the fetus.
Maybe you should stop eating meat, wearing shoes, writing on paper, etc.
I think killing a fetus is much better than skinning a possum alive. Again, a fetus is not a human. He is not important because he can be created again, and again, and again... the devoped human is something you cannot replicate.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
But of course, you can argue that a fetus isn't a baby and whatnot, but to me, it is.
We all have different opinions. Why not let the mother decide? It's HER child, dammit.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
A sperm or an egg by theirselves arent humans yet, right? They have only half of the necessary stuff to make a human. Then when they combine, BAM, you got the necessities for a human. Just 9 months and a womb and its outta there. I may be mistaken, but is there some other miracle that occurs after the first 3 months that would be necessary for its life? Just cuz it hasn't developed some things yet doesn't make it less of a human.
What are, in your opinion, necessary stuff to make a human? How is a fetus different to an animal?
And how can this be a miracle if the same thing happens to ALL mamals? Except ducknoses.
Quote from "Fudlow" »
What I meant was, the baby hasn't done anything wrong yet, other than be put in the wrong mother.
"But that is just not fair!"
"Life is not fair."
I'm sorry, but I would consider a baby pretty doomed in the rape case. Especially if it's some teenager. Why not wait for the next baby? Why not wait for a better time and give the next baby everything it deserves?[/quote]

I'm just don't feel as strongly as you do about people who do go to church and what their reasons are. So don't accuse me of being naive in regards to things I'm not saying. I've not made any claims about my supposed church that I do not go to or my community. You and I aren't even arguing the same topic anymore cause you're so hung up on all these church phonies out there, whereas I'm trying to make arguments about religious-based initiatives.
You also seem to have this overwhelming compulsion to talk about how many people have died in the name of God, and I'm not disputing that. In fact, I completely acknowledge it. But at the same time I'm trying to tell you that many religious groups as well as legislation founded on religious lobbying has managed to help lots of people all over the world. But for some strange reason, you can't even acknowledge or at least address that.
Are you still being sarcastic? (i don't know because taxes are also ment to help people with difficulties)
I'm not a big fan of sarcasm, actually. No, I'm not sarcastic.
Taxes are also meant to fund schools, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the welfare group. People with disabilities are people with disabilities, what do they have to do with this?

Stop thinking this is about you. I don't give two shits about how you feel about God or church or whether you go or not. This is why I feel the way I do, not because of you but because of everyone who does it. You don't go to church? Good for you. I mean it, good for you.
Also, as far as the good vs the bad of what religion has caused, I'm not saying there aren't good things. I'm sure there are a lot of good things. The question here isn't whether the outcome was good or not, it's what the true intentions were. For instance, missionaries. I'm sure a lot of people think missionaries are a good thing. I on the other hand do not. Why would a bunch of people who have never practiced organized religion want a bunch of Jesus mumbo jumbo shoved down their throats. I don't think they do.
Religion should be something on a personal level. Faith is between you and God, not you and the people at church and God. Just you and God. It shouldn't be discussed, it shouldn't be argued over and people should most certainly not be killed because of it. And by "you," I don't mean you personally but anyone in general. i believe that casual abortion should not be allowed. abortion should be a last resort for rape, incest, or cases where the child will be born deformed in some way.
i do not believe that it should be made normal, because then it becomes another form of birth control, and that is wrong. people should know that they must be responsible, if you dont want to be burned, dont stick your hand in the fire. same principles. sure, sex is fun, but you must know the consequences and follow the rules humans have always lived by: dont have kids until you are in a position to take care of it.
Siaynoq, you're arguing for something you dont believe in. You're a fool. Religion is supposed to be good. It's supposed to be something that brings you closer to God. Yes, I'm telling you what religion should be. You don't know and you dont really care so dont quote or reply to me anymore. Else I'll find you looking for a fight.

I've been making an argument that religion-based initiatives has been a good thing for a lot of people. I believe that. But you seem to know a lot about what I believe in and what I care about so I'll just have to take your word for it, I suppose.
You're confuzzling me though with your stance on religion. One moment you're ranting on about how religious people are stupid. Then you're saying, well, it's okay to be religious, as long as you're religious in my kind of way. And that sounds just as bad as the problem you have with religion. In other words, I think you're kind of a fascist. But I'm sure you'll correct me by telling me what I really think and know about all this.

Let me make this easy for you:
Good:
Having faith (in something)
Honestly believing (in that something)
Not trying to force your beliefs on others
Peaceful, personal worship
Living by morals you believe to be right, not what some religion tells you
Bad: Greedy churches (catholicism)
Telling other's their belief is false
Condemning others (thats God's job)
Going to church because you "have" to, not because you want to
Hating, killing and hurting
Living by morals pushed by religion, not personal belief
Basically, live for yourself, not for the religion you supposedly belong to. God doesn't want you to resent your religion or your faith.
I believe the people who are religious and live by the Bad list are stupid. I believe the people who live by the Good list have it right. If you really think the way religion works now is the right way, you're a lost cause.

But, do not insult Gods people, and you shouldnt tresspass against others, for the Lord doesnt tresspass against you. You have a alot to learn still I think in your years to come...
Parallel truth, awaken in translucence
Sealed by this deadened song
Sinking in toneless comatose
Come and tear my skin, fear what's within
Its massive darkness filling my world
Submerged rage writing unspoken words
I agree with you as well. Completely...even though I like me some loving haha.
