I don't find much difference in them cuz both work under command but some do not.

I would have to go with the ninja. The samurai really just has his sword going for him. The ninja, on the other hand, is good with a sword and a variety of other weapons like throwing stars and nunchuks. The ninja also has the whole stealthy thing going for him, making cold, calculated kills. The samurai relies soley on his swordplay. The ninja has a host of other talents he can use.

Ninja's favored the shorter blade because of one main reason. Deception. The ninja stance is pointing the tip of the sword to the foe...while keeping the entire sword parrallel to the ground. This creates an illusion to the foe on how long the sword really is. If you were the foe...all that you will see is the cross gaurd and the tip of the blade. You will not beable to see the length of the sword if it is pointing right at your head.
Partially correct.
The main reason, was that the hallways in ancient Japan were narrow. Samurai's katanas were too long to be removed from their sheath in the hallways, so ninjas exploited this by using a shorter sword that was easier to weild indoors. This is mainly because, ninjas were assasins, usually killing their targets in the easiest ways, when the Samurai were asleep in their homes.
That is why Samurais, at the end of the era, were all carrying a Katana and either a Wakizashi or possibly a Tonto.
It is also generally accepted by scholars, that the ninjas used Wakizashis. The Ninjato is basically the same thing, but like stated earlier, has never been proven to exist. Also, the name Ninjato, has really only been around for about 100 years.
Both the Samurai, and the Ninja's swords were crafted by master swordmakers. The Katana was generally constructed out of two pieces of steel, a soft one wrapped around a hard one, with the hard steel protruding out of one side. The hard side was sharpened to a razor point, for slicing and chopping, while the soft side was used for deflecting blows, to prevent the razor side from getting chipped or nicked.
The Ninja's swords were usually crafted out of just hardened steel. This is because if they actually ran out of other weapons, and had to use the sword, the ninja usually had one chance to attack, and if the attack failed, he would die. The swords were just too short to combat the length of the katana, and therefore, they would never need to block or deflect another sword.
I like the ninjas, because of the whole secret thing. Where they can hide in the shadows. i would not be a thieving one though. I would be one with codes and discipline.
