Hi
Wondering what is the connection between Imperius and the Horadrim or the Zakarum
Why there is such a big stained glass window devoted to Imperius at the Tristam Cathedral?
Imperius has a very fierce and aggressive personality. He absolutely despises Demons and anything related to the Burning Hells for that matter. He commands much respect in the High Heavens and is looked up to by many Angels.
Did the meteor crash through that stained glass of Imperius? I think so...but anyways. It might be symbolic/metaphor or a contradicting of Imperius' hate towards demons and hell in general. The meteor (representing bad [angel or not]) went through the stained glass (representing good), thus the thing Imperius hates most came and end up in his face!
Angels were also worshiped way back when during the Sin War conflict. He was probably a deity of war which they worshiped? I don't have a specifics but I do know that it's connected to the Cathedral of Light and that whole religion group that worshiped the High Heavens.

Good question. There's never been any indication that any Angiris member other than Tyrael had any contact with the Horadrim, but perhaps the Horadrim had other records of angels which they drew upon when they built the Cathedral.
Strictly speaking we don't, but he's the only angel to have ever been depicted with that halo-esque thing floating above his head. As well as the only one with that exact weapon as well. Given that he is integral to the lore, and that the stained glass contains both his weapon and the halo, it seems reasonable to assume its him.

Imperius was never involved directly in the Sin War, nad neither did he have any link to the Cathedral of Light.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
20 years have elapsed since the events of Diablo II. I doubt that this particular stained glass window, or really any other, would have been left in as good a condition as it is. It's my belief that the Tristram cathedral has been renovated since that time, and this portrayal of Imperius is a relatively recent addition. That could mean Heaven has had more contact with Sanctuary lately; old records have been unearthed, leading to an awareness of more of the Heavenly pantheon; or someone had a random vision of the denizens of Heaven and an artist took inspiration from it (hint hint).

but what if it was actually another Archangel in disguise? attempting to gain control over the humans? and eventually the Angiris council? Then everything goes out of control with Mephisto corrupting the Zakarum leaders, and this Archangel ends by pushing for the total elimination of the humans, fearing that his plot could be revealed
It says in BoC that deckard believes the "angel" to actually be an echo of uldyssians sacrifice. The actual name given was by the man who witnessed it not an actually angel identifying itself as such. Still bo idea why imperius stain glass.
So I just read a couple of pages into the Book of Cain. Something interesting caught my eye, it was the Prophecy of the End Times. A line in the prophecy, I think, really ties into the art of Imperius and what it means. Warning possible plot spoiler
"Valor shall turn to Wrath"
I think it indicates that Imperius will either:
a) turn his back against his virtues of Valor and go bad / crazy(because Valor can easily turn to Pride which gives birth to Wrath) meaning he could become 1 of the possible Seven Lords of Sin for Azmodan or something else entirely(expansion :D) or....
b)he gets corrupted / manipulated by the demons(possibly by Mephisto or Azmodan[see above]? Wrath relates to Hatred in a way and Wrath is one of the Seven Deadly Sins) kinda like the art shows, into hating humans and be becoming an enemy of mortals or the High Heavens similar to how Izual was corrupted by Diablo
edit: Also, maybe I'm just blind but the right side could possibly be angels and the left side demons, center may be humans. That may imply something else as well if I'm seeing that right.

....just sayin..
take a look of how was the Zakarum "religion" created: a "so far unknown" Archangel Yaerius came and told this fella to create a church ...
In this wiki it says that Yaerius could be a demon in disguise http://www.diablowiki.net/Yaerius
