Keep in mind, Tyrael was considered a rogue arch-angel for helping humans and directly fighting demons in santuary, all of which is good for humanity. Tyrael destroyed the worldstone, that may have been the last straw for the hierarchy of heaven (don't even say God did it, God's not even a character in Diablo) so he may have been banished from heaven via meteor which may be a harbringer of doom, but meteor are never bringers of doom.
He may be banished from heaven, but only for helping humanity, every blizzard game needs a sacrifice.
Tyrael and other angels don't have to be good exactly, they apparantly don't follow Biblical or religious Lore, at least not 100%, Diablo's world is an altered version of Religious Lore IMO.
So Tyrael or any angel can do whatever they want, such as in religious lore satan was an angel, and then went against Heaven and God himself and all of that.
The angelics are held to the rulings of the Angiris Council, of which Tyrael is a part. The Angiris Council ruled that they would not have direct interaction with the affairs of humans. Tyrael is breaking that rule (but with good intentions.)

But they don't care about good intentions, they care about order.
It looks as if Tyrael is struggling to get free and if you look closely you can see what kinda resembles chains running down from him to the floor. Maybe that explains his absence ? Grasping for straws here.. tell me what ya think.

I haven't seen a lot of discussion pointing to Tyrael as the meteor...a couple of posts here and there...but from my perspective, I think there might be a strong chance that "meteor" crashing was, in fact, Tyrael himself. If you look at it, I don't think the meteor looks all that big...and although it's red, it almost looks like there's his trademark tendril wings waving from the ball. Furthermore, right after the meteor something crashes through the roof of the church or whatever that "Leah" and Cain are in, and both are startled.
I'm not, personally, convinced the huge demon's entrance was the meteor. The crashing through the roof bit I thought was implied Tyrael was coming to warn Cain and "Leah", and as part of the story of D3 has been stated to explore where Tyrael has been all this time...perhaps somewhere far off he traveled in a quick, unothordox manner from to warn of this new and/or resurrected evil?
If I had any imaging software I'd circle them... But yeah that's a pretty good idea too.

Ah, didn't see that. I think the Tyrael is corrupted is a leap in interpratation, though. Not that is isn't true...but I'm not necessarily ascribing to it. "Leah" and Cain looked startled, but they would've stood no chance against an evil Tyrael...
Ok.. they may not be chains.. But something is either
A.Pulling him down
B. Attacking him

Tyrael is not evil, he was against humans at first but during the events of D2 he came to trust them and has joined forces with us. This was later backed up by a message on Blizzplanet or some website like that when we heard Tyrael speak what he truly thought of humans and what he will do now. Tyrael aided human beings, now it appears he has been cast down for his assistance.
I just find it funny that Tyrael would be cast down for something he suggested in the first place. Maybe a slip up canon wise?

alright. that is your interpretation of this vague piece of concept art. chances are it has nothing to add to the story, but i'm just telling you what has already been debated.

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
"Back to the beginning," Tyrael reiterated, "and from there we shall leave them to their own destiny, whether good or evil, for as long as the truce holds"

"They shall begin anew" agreed Tyrael
