I feel bad, but Zhar, I had to delete your first post. While it was well written, it does not jive with the storyline we have in mind.
Please note, everyone, that the battle is not taking place in or near Ridia, it is in a field some distance away from both villages. Please do not attempt to enter or approach Tappas or Ridia yet.
OH, shit I thought we were pillaging our way through Ridia right now.
*nods*
No worries man, I probably should have read the posts a bit better to figure out we were in a field.
Will make sure to post a better one soon, maybe when I get back if I can't pull a decent one out of my ass fast enough.
edit: K, got a post out that hopefully is more along the lines of whats happening :D.

Just noticed the big, bolded "Fields of Phillipassus" at the top of the story thread.
No idea how I missed that, oh well :(.

Okay, my attention has been grabbed. I want to participate, but I've never played an RP before. I think I've got the jist of it, but I did have a question for Jetrall or Elfen Lied.
Are the characters that we can be, strictly confined to Diablo? I had the idea of a young man being trained as a Necromancer, but due to circumstances, he is banished from the Priests of Rathma. He would then go on to find new recruits to form his own clan (farther into the RP). He would vow not to use the spells of Rathma ever again, causing him to start as basically an apprentice and forcing him to learn new spells along the way. I was basing this off of my character the Overseer that I designed a while back. The spells and skills that he would learn are mapped out to be believable in the Diablo world, and none of the powers, in my opinion, are overpowered.
His backstory will be slightly different than what is already there. I will simplify or modify the skill set if necessary. I will even post an abridged version of the skillset with my Character post for ease of reference.
You know what, should I just post what I want and see if it is approved?
I hope I'm not too late. My brother, Scyberdragon, told me about this rp today and I definitely want to join. I will create my character tonight and start participating. If I am too late let me know and I will stop posting.

The Character thread is now closed. I should have done this last night when the RP began (but, alas, I did not think of it). Registration is closed. The matter of whether Eldermoon will be allowed to continue in the RP will be discussed and determined by tomorrow.
I am sorry to anyone else wishing to participate, we simply cannot plan for anymore new characters. Thank you for your interest and be advised - if this RP is successful there will be more to come.
Once again, I apologize for my rude intrusion. I would have made my character the first day had my brother told me about it sooner. I hope to continue to participate and enjoy this adventure with all of you.
It's my fault, really, for not closing the thread when I ought to have.
The Story Thread has been temporarily locked pending a new decision about the game! It has been noted that some of you, in your passionate dedication (which, believe me, we do appreciate) are getting a bit ahead of the others (including myself! lol). We are considering implementing a cap on the number of entries per day per person so as to keep the RP flowing at a reasonable pace that will give all the players enough time to react to situations and conversations happening without being left behind.
Thank you all for your enthusiasm. The thread should be open again very, very soon. (I promise!)
After some review we have decided to impose a slight restriction.
Each person can only post up to 3 times per day.
While the level of activity is greatly welcomed, the amount of posts from each player is leading to complications with progression. In other words, its getting too hard to understand what is going on. It is starting to go off in several tangents, and this is causing problems.
So in order to remedy this, we will be imposing this rule.

I am a bit confused. ?
A lot of us were very eager to start this rp and pounced on it once it opened. Starting off was hard, for me at least, because of the lack of description from the first two threads. The only thing I could figure out from the initial posts was that the knights were at the fields of phillipassus in the middle of a feud between ridia and tappas. The battle was pratically over and jamis and buliwyf were both injured. elfen's thread even initially ened with a statement to leave the next thread open for jetrall which was soon over looed and deleted. In my opinion this did not leave much room for others to participate. The majority of us played it as picking off the few remaining fighters and then coming to jamis' side to figure out what was going on. This lasted all day with no new information to help further things along. Then most of us wasted time doing pointless things in the area while we awaited new info. And now we are being told we progressed too much? None of the other members even did anything of any significance other than kill one or two soldiers and then sit idley by. I got on today to see the story has not really furthered anymore other than buliwyf going to a priest/doctor somewhere and ending with no new information.
I understand this rp is not supposed to move fast but I feel it hasn't moved at all. Like I have said before, I am new to this concept and am not fully sure of how things go but I don't feel the stroy has progressed at all from the initial posts other than idle busy work. Could someone please explain to me what went to far for the stroy or what the story is, at least up until now. The only person I saw who was left behind who did post was Jethera who commented on missing the action even though the battle was pretty much over from the first post. Anybody else who has not posted is not far behind. they can still come to the area we are all in and find the same defeated battle ground we all walked in to.
As far as limiting us to thress posts a day, I do not like it. I could understand if the posts so far done have taken the story anywhere but all of the posts did not. The original post mentioned a battle between two groups that was almost over and that is where the story remains. Limiting us to three posts will only discourage me from making any posts. I am afraid to use up my posts for the day only to have more of the story revealed afterwards with me unable to participate. I really enjoyed the idle conversations that were going on while we waited for more story but I will not continue this if we are limited.
Please help me understand what is going on?

Scyber, right now you are putting quantity over quality of your posts. We're not here to do a race of any sort, or from what I know of anyways.
I think 3 posts a day is more than fair, personally I would have suggested the 3 posts per week only, kind of thing. This is because we don't need to make 5 posts a day of 1 line each. We could simply wait for somethings to happen (aka, wait until most of the other people post), THEN you will have a bit more to work on in your posts, and be able to make them more lengthy, descriptive and more pleasurable to read. Please remember, there are over 10 other characters in this RP, so lets say you let everyone post once before you post again, then you have 10 other people to include in what you're doing, plus yourself.
As for how far we're progressing, it has only been a day, and most people here (contrary to common belief) do have lives, such as the aforementioned Jetrall and Elfen Lied. They may not be able to be active enough to post so many times a day to keep up with what everyone else here has been doing. They've made only 2 posts each so far, and everyone else ahs made at least 1 (or most of us, anyways?) with several members going off on their own tangents with more posts than that. Like Jetrall said, being active is good and refreshing to see, you can't push this thing, we're not RPing on Gaiaonline, where RPs are finished within a few horus or whatever. We're here to make this enjoyable, and not quick.
And Jetrall and Elfen, sorry if I overstepped any boundaries, and spoke out of line, I just wanted to add my two cents.

I'm not talking about taking the storyline too far, I'm talking about taking a specific situation too far. Example:
Some of you came up to my character and asked him questions then, without waiting for a response, continued on to some other location and had other conversations. I never had a chance to respond. Luckily I managed to cover by implying that Jamis just didn't answer those questions, but I shouldn't have had to. It's not my job to cover for you guys. (The same goes for any member of this RP). Do not start something and then completely disregard it's solution.
It's called patience. Wait for others to post. The idea of the RP is not to overwhelm those of us who cannot constantly post. Three posts a day is a lot more than I'm used to, to be honest, with three posts a week being a much "normal" number. However, I understand how into it some of you are and, as a result, kept the number higher.
I'm just making sure that everyone can remain included, up-to-date, and that the situations in our game make sense.
Scyber, right now you are putting quantity over quality of your posts
I am not putting quantity over quality, I am simply wondering if having idle chit chat is discouraged. In my opinion, the most fun part of the rp I had yesterday was the pointless banter back and forth with the other people. Limiting our posts discourages this type of interaction and if this is true that is fine, I just did not know that.
I think 3 posts a day is more than fair, personally I would have suggested the 3 posts per week only, kind of thing. This is because we don't need to make 5 posts a day of 1 line each. once again I am unaware that the posts made were supposed to be lengthy. In thinking of role playing, to me, there is nothing wrong with short banter back and forth from one another. In fact in my opinion, lengthy posts make it harder to involve multiple people at once. I cant ask a question to somebody and continue writing without their response. nor can I ask a group of people to do something and then continue writing as if they all agreed. I did enjoy writing my first post which was longer than most of the rest of my post but I do not feel this is how every post should be. If I am wrong in this assumption please correct me, I just feel it is appropriate to have multiple short posts.

I did not say we need to move this story along. My confusion was with the fact that jetrall said we were moving too quickly when I didn't feel we had moved the story at all. At the beginning there was a battle that was already done and jamis and buliwyf were both injured. As of right ow the same is still true, so how have we progressed too much. All of the posts that have been done so far have just been filler of the same situation. If I had not posted yesterday, today or even tomorrow, the same situation would still be before me to write about. are we just not allowed to go scavenge the dead bodies while we wait? or make a camp fire for us to sit at?
I dont understand what we are allowed and not allowed to do. Do I have to conform all of my actions based off of what jetrall and elfen are writing. I know we are not allowed to be like "Kifu left the group and went back to the jungles" but I thought we were allowed to interact with what was given to us. I will also stop my idle chit chat and make fewer and more substantial posts if that is what is expected of us. I just thought we were allowed to do such things as ask another person a question/ wait for their response/ act upon the answer. However, if i do that it will use up all three of my posts.
Sorry if i am sounding like a noob but i thought I understood what to do only to be told that it was incorrect.
P.S.
and most people here (contrary to common belief) do have lives, such as the aforementioned Jetrall and Elfen Lied
I assume you mean that I don't and I find that very offensive. Not only do I work full-time I am also going to college and doubling up on my classes to finish two years early. I am also married and spend most of my free time with her. However, I still find five minutes every now and then to participate. I am not saying this is what other should be doing. I am just explaining my own situation. YES, I too have a life.

No, your wanting to have a conversation is fine, and that in encouraged, but not waitng for characters to reply is definitely discouraged. How can you have a conversation, which you seem to like (and I do too) if you do not wait for the other people in the conversation to reply?

Short posts are not completely frowned upon. I like short posts. Sometimes it's all you can get in. And that is fine, but do try to get some bigger ones in. They do not have to be big posts in terms of dialog, you do not have to have a conversation with a post every time. Just adding in a bit more description of your surrounds and current situation, is often all that is needed.

Jetrall is primarily refering to the people who referenced his character and intitiated a dialog with his character, then took off to talk to someone else before giving Jetrall a chance to respond to the character talking to him.
Your looting of bodies is fine.

No no far from it. If you want to have an idle conversation with someone, then by all means do so, just make sure you give that person a chance to respond, before you take off and do something else.

I have removed Ullion's post lest it confuse any others and, subsequently, yours as well Scyber (as yours was essentially a response to Ullion's message, which is not necessarily how myself and Elfen intend to handle things here). I keep Elfen's post, though, as he does a good job of answering your questions.
Okay, so two days go by, and nothing has happened other than the extreme tail end of a "skirmish". Why exactly is it that I can not participate? I'm not making 15 characters, just 1. And I believe that my character is quite original in concept, and will add a lot to this RP.
Please, I beg you, let me in!! I would even be grateful if I was allowed into the story after several days go by. I could meet up with the Knights as a random warrior who believes their cause is honorable, whatever that cause is. Pleeeeeeeeease!!
There was a set date for which entries for the RP had to be in by. Unfortunately you didn't get your's posted in time.
That being said there is no reason you couldn't be added at a later date. It is rare to have all the characters in the story introduced in the opening chapter.
If one recalls Baldur's Gate II for example over half the characters are not even seen until the second and third chapters.
Just keep an eye on the thread Archie. We may need call upon you.

If one recalls Baldur's Gate II for example over half the characters are not even seen until the second and third chapters.
Just keep an eye on the thread Archie. We may need call upon you.
