It might have probably been discussed but I couldn't find anything on the search option.
Anyways, I'm concerned about the transition from current Battle.Net to 2.0. Dear God i hope it's still free to play online, I don't want it to turn into another P2P like WoW or any other MMORPG.
How will the transition work, will it be a patch for all 3 games? Or do you have to buy Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 to actually go on Battle.Net 2.0. If so, can you still talk and chat with people still on the regular Battle.net version, or are they're two seperate servers?
Another thing is that I heard that some features if not the whole Battle.Net 2.0 will require payment. What are these features and if so will it have any impact on gameplay of the game whatsoever, or will it just be flashy icons and pics and all that?
I really hope Battle.Net is still free to play, I mean that's what it's famous for right, since Diablo 1 came out.
You really think -way- too much without actually making sense. Its not going to be very different than any of the previous games, except that your battle.net account and your games will most likely be more tied together.
The whole thing about talking or chatting to people with the original battle.net made no sense to me. If you mean talking with StarCraft 1 and Diablo 2 people, then obviously no.
Battle.net 2.0 is already confirmed free. They said there MIGHT be features that you must pay for. Special features. They have said nothing about what they would be.

As for what we all know now, the new Bnet is free. Any other benefits that will cost money have not been confirmed yet...
And im pretty sure the new Bnet supports Wow, D3, and Sc2 only.
How is that obvious? I think it was a good question. You were able to chat with people playing Starcraft while you were playing Diablo 2. So chatting from b.net to b.net is possible. His question was if chatting from b.net to b.net 2.0 is possible.
I have nothing official on this, but my take on it is that in 2.0, players will be able to freely talk to people in Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and perhaps WoW as well no matter what they're doing, being in the lobby or in a game.
As far as I understand, old games will not benefit from these upgrades, meaning if you play Diablo 2, you cannot chat with someone playing a game of Starcraft 2. But that's only my guess.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

You know what really grinds my gears? (And this is not directed at you) People that always talking about whether you have to pay or not on B.Net 2.0, I mean seriously, obviously if you suggest the idea, Blizzard will pick it up and say, "You know what? That's an excellent way to make money". The whole reason there are going to be small transactions, for realm change or whatever is because people can't keep the bloody mouth shut.

Questions re: potential Bnet2.0 related micro-transactions are valid. I doubt Blizzard will need us to tell them how to make money. I am sure if there is demand for a service, they would be the first to look into making money off it.
From my understanding Battle.net is Battle.net is Battle.net. Its the same thing from when we went from Starcraft and Diablo2's to Warcraft 3's. You can still communicate and still interact, but the new game will simply have more options for themselves.
So really, this is kinda like...Battle.net 4.0? Diablo 1, then SC/D2, then WC3, then SC2/D3? Yea, I'd venture to say this is the fourth major update of the Battle.net systems/servers. Of course, that part is only my personal oppinion. The first paragraph is true.
And everyone remember, you can still get on Diablo 1 and talk to people on Warcraft 3, so the likely hood of splitting this fourth version from the others is highly unlikely.
I don't think asking if "Battle.net 2.0" will be free was the best question, per se. WoW is obviously a P2P game, but that will work with the Battle.net 2.0 network (although it isn't on the same servers). SCII is not P2P, but is also on the Battle.net 2.0 network. It just depends on the game, I think.
Obviously, we're going to have microtransactions in Diablo III that are totally optional and won't tweak gameplay in favor of the rich (or those who are not particularly thrifty), but to actually pay to play on Battle.net 2.0 with Diablo III, I'm fairly certain it's going to be free. I think Dimebog or someone pointed out a quote to some source a while ago to me and I'm going to go look for it.

I'm sure they make enough money from WoW, they don't need to add micro-transactions, does the current Bnet have it? No.
So why should Bnet 2.0 have it?
Some people are very stupid, and suggest these ideas on the Bnet forums, saying stuff like "I wouldn't mind if I have to pay for for Bnet 2.0, so long as it isn't too costly", Blizzard then picks it up and goes "Maybe we should have pointless micro-transactions? People want to pay for Bnet, so why don't we let them? It's good way to make money too".
Do you get what I'm saying here?

What WoW makes has nothing to do with it; Diablo 3 is it's own product, and neds to make as much of a profit as possible. Micro-payments might be a part of that.

Yes, but you're not correct. Blizzard does not base its business models of what people say on their forums. Well, not solely.
Keeping B.net play free to play right now is imperative for Blizzard, as there is no multiplayer alternative. If you must pay for B.net to play, it will be a huge incentive for people to develop their own private servers, which is counter-productive to the whole idea they have of bringing the community together. Plus thyy've already stated it will be free. Micropayments in the form of namechanges are cosmetic effects that will have no bearing on your game if you choose not to use it.

Yes, but those games were still connected to the original battl.net server, in my experience nothing really happened to the server except security implants. However a huge server update like 2.0 has never happened before, and many questions are still thrown out there and such.
Will it be two seperate servers or one? Will all the games be updated or just available for Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, possible Warcraft 3? And will the chatting system for all B.Net games stil lbe available or will they be divided?
Battle.net 2.0 will only be for WoW and newer games, it's on the FAQ page for it:

the new Battle.net Accounts are separate from classic Battle.net accounts for StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II. To allow for the Battle.net features we have planned, we’ve built the new Battle.net Account system from the ground up for World of Warcraft and upcoming games such as StarCraft II and Diablo III. In order to play Warcraft III, Diablo II, and StarCraft on Battle.net, you will still need to log in using your “classic” Battle.net login information.
Of course, that might only apply to accounts. The actual security and other features like that that are just part of Battle.net, as opposed to accounts, I don't know anything about- they might not be included in that answer as far as I know.

So pay to use Battle.net 2.0: Depends on the game you're playing. That's my opinion.
