im happy that its here but the good old diablo2 is gone... i mean its another warcraft game... WoW fans can be happy, but its not diablo anymore...
Nah, that's what they said about Starcraft. Diablo looks more like Warcraft now, true, but there's still a lot more mindless violence and the environment is still a lot more creepy. Just wait for some graphical update to make it look a bit more gritty and it will be okay.
The graphics will probably change before beta- they said that (besides the Havok engine) it was a completely new engine that they had been working on for 4 years. They're probably still trying to make the game efficient and artistically correct, the former I'm guessing being the primary concern for alpha.
But, on the "darker" note, I think it should only be "dark" in areas that it would be appropriate. For instance, it would not work in a desert, with sunlight riveting off of all the tiny particles of sand, and it would not work in an area of snow, were the same would be happening with snow particles. But yes, I have to admit that in that dungeon they showed in the gameplay trailer, the textures seemed too soft and cartoony. However, the trade-off for what everyone deems as "darkening" will be computer requirements, since it would need more detail.
sup, so i just found out about diablo3, like 5 minutes ago, and im not too impressed, i hope they do fix the graphics, and maybe send out a beta so that they can improve it even more. when i saw it, the first thing i thought was that it looked a lot like warcraft 3... but whatever

HEY!! caliban your back:offtopic:
but anyways, i think blizzard will pull through and make the graphics better and more dark later on
Well I don't know if I can post here or not... But anyway, I agree with that what Magistrate said about the graphics, they should definately gonna update the colour scheme in some areas for a better feeling of darkness.
Personally I found the art choices ok, taking into account Nintendo did the same with TLoZ:WW and it was still a kick-ass game. I just hope they actually change some aspects of the art, especially when it comes to skeletons, just look at the artwork trailer and you can see they have a clear Warcraft essense to them, they don't look evil, as they did on the previous games and that is something which needs to be addressed asap. From the trailers I believe we all can see the game's potential and even though it's graphics are less-than-gothic, as long as they actually scare us with some of the major bosses' appearance, Blizzard will achieve one of its greatest games.
PS: What's this gaunlet thing?
PPS: Damn, Blizzard never ceases to amaze me with cinematics... ahh only if the game had that graphics...
I think the gauntlet is the cursor, but I am not really sure.
I like the graphics. Considering that's just the start of the game, I don't want it to get any darker. Maybe more refined, because it does have a pastel kind of look outside. As far as I am concerned, atmosphere has very little to do with graphics, so I don't really care how it looks...

But seriously, they need to know that they must make the graphics darker.
Other then the fact that they got rid of the gauntlet....
