As I've stated before, I don't think one is really better than the other. I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Strangely, PoE feels a lot more like D2 than D3 feels like D2. But PoE definitely needs some refinement and overall polish. The two games complement each other quite well. I look forward to getting into PoE more actually once it's finished with its beta and they improve the social aspects of it. Basic attack FTW!

    haven't tried PoE yet
Working with adobe and/or java is like pushing a paper clip against a building and expecting it to move...

I can't seriously play PoE unless they somehow make combat less.... slow. It's like playing D3 in slow-mo. I'll probably goof around with it, but the way combat currently is, it's just a game-breaker for me. If they could fix that up, I'd give it a decent whirl.

That's weird you say that cause I complained to a friend once about D3 how it felt like my character was running around in slow motion and the whole game felt like it had some slow time effect on it.

I can't force myself to play PoE anymore than I have, I can still play D3. So I chose D3.

Well, still though. We are comparing a small time company's (compared to Blizzard anyway) beta to a finished Blizzard title. The fact that PoE has generated this much interest up to this point I think entitles it to much more gameplay to see how it might improve. Well from me anyway, I'll keep giving it a try.

Thanks again Maka, for the beta key!

:P I'm not arguing the fact that they're different games, I really wouldn't even compare them on "which is BETTER" basis, that's why I just said I can still play D3, PoE I just can't get into. I think PoE has some really interesting ideas and some of the art choices I like better (some not all) but it falls flat on a lot of areas though in my opinion.

PoE just feels a bit more raw. Some of that is intentional I think and some of it isn't. I like that aspect of it, but I think where it's unintentional is with some of the choppy gameplay and animations which I think are all issues that can be worked out.

PoE looks absolutely terrible. And I am not saying that because I am a D3 fanboy or anything. I personally plan on spending more time in TL2 than D3 when it comes out. But just watching the trailer and some other videos I have found the games graphics just look like total trash and the game play I have seen looks ridiculously slow.

As a person who would argue that even D2's graphics look good by today's standards, I think PoE graphics look great. And when people say things like gameplay being slow, I still find that too vague a comment. I think what a lot of D3 fans don't like about PoE is the lack of immediate satisfaction you get from sooner access to bright colorful skills that light things up, explodes them, etc.

That's how PoE is more like D2. You start off with very little and it actually feels like you do. Unlike D3 where you have a lot more to work with in the beginning and your resources are seemingly bountiful.

I dunno I feel like the combat is slow too, even in comparison to D2. Every class I played felt as graphically satisfying as playing a barbarian in D2. A few streaks of color here and there but not a whole lot of feeling of power or impact. The general starting attack speed for all classes feels slow as well.

I don't think the art style is bad at all, a little too flat overall for me in color but the style itself looks fine.

You can't really compare Diablo 3 and PoE I think.

PoE's character customization is just.. magnificent

For instence, look at that skill tree!

Also, they went for a more rough setting than Diablo 3. Which tends to make it look inferior to Diablo 3, at least in my opinion.

But I have tried PoE, about a month ago now.
I think it will bring me more exciting and rewarding gameplay than Diablo 3 has ever given me.

Main thing that already assures that is the character customization alone.

Diablo 3 just feels like they went full focus on creating a fast-action hack and slash RPG.

Which is great, don't get me wrong. I think Diablo 3 was awesome. Still not what I had expected for the follow up to Diablo 2. But it's not bad.

I just feel it's a bit more "user friendly" with it's limited spells and simple interface.

Which is of course great for new action RPG'ers who's never really tried a game like these before.

But in the long run, it get's very boring for the "experienced RPG'ers". running Diablo 3 through normal to hell didn't really feel like a challenge to me.

Their feature for the "experienced RPG'ers" the Inferno mode, did prove itself to be challenging for a while, which was a nice touch.

But when I ran through Inferno Diablos heart with my barbarian sword. I lost every interest in the game, there was no reason for me to get better gear or anything unless I was up for farming in ages to gain a little side money on their real AH.

I do hope that Diablo 3 PvP is going to be insanly epic, one can only hope!

PoE was nice when I played it (70h), but it bored me pretty quickly IMO, and the new skills they introduced weren't really stellar. The passive tree is ok, once you understand how it works and don't fall in the noob trap. The big pb was the gameplay IMO, no real difference between monsters, repetitive gameplay and limited skill selection...

I played a lot more D3 (500h), the gameplay is better. Can't wait for the patch with new legendaries and balanced skills.

PoE has some good elements and interesting ideas, they have a much stronger end game system for example of usable scrolls which give you limited use into zones for farming. It has a huge amount of affixes and the passive tree is good and stupid at the same time. But it lacks polish and design imo, the story is worse then D3's which is saying something. the currency system is cool and really makes you think about items and such, you can see the quality difference between the 2 games, and to be fair PoE is an Indie game so its to be expected.

    Im waiting for Linage 3

Looks like its going to blow away D3 and PoE and pretty much any current dungeon hunting game. Lol

    That looks AWESOME.

And what D3 should have been. I almost came when the archer pinned the mob to the boat.

I really hate games that has some kind of potion spam to be alive or to use your abilities.
