The concept is one arena with 4 players. Waves of monsters periodically spawn until the heroes die.
If they made this, it'd help pve not become stale. It's competitive pve in a sense with leaderboards and rankings. What team comp survived up to wave 86? Stuff like that.
I think it'd be cool too if there was a pool of lives that each player draws from. If you die you subtract one from the pool and resurrect. This keeps going on until they run out of lives in the pool.
Another cool thing would be that items can drop from all the monsters. However you never see them in the course of the fight. They're invisible as they drop. The screen is then super clear while the fight is going on, with little chance of a misclick. Then when everyones dead, all the monsters are removed from the screen. The drops suddenly become visible. The party feels heavily rewarded for being able to survive for so long.
They could also tweak the repair rate of items for this feature, so there's a soft cap where players can breakeven from the deaths. They could also just flat out reduce the cost.
The waves of monsters could be randomized. And maybe further down the line, let special random events spawn on certain waves.
This is just an idea I want to throw out to the community. Do you think this could work? Do you have ideas to improve this?
Think too much cheese would be possible in that setting, especially now with impending CC buff. It's a nice idea, but i would much prefer endless dungeon. Too bad Blizz was too lazy to actually create a random map generator.

Which of course is completely false, as D3 has a random map generator which randomizes events and dungeons inside of every area. But all aboard the Hate Blizz train! woo woo!
You mean like Jar of Souls - but until everyone dies?
Would be nice, but what about HC?
As for randomness - dungeons are randomised to a degree - but outdoor areas most certainly aren't. They've always got the same silhouette, just the contents are interchangable. That's not really random.
Now, an endless dungeon with big, totally random areas would be amazing.

I would love an endless dungeon. Bring back the D1 feel add in some D1 monsters and we'll be golden!

Hahaha, what?! I think you are being purposely obtuse. The amount of actual randomization in D3 is laughable. "Oh, this time around, a cave has been activated in the upper left portion of your map. It may not be there next time!". Please.
When people talk about randomization they are referring to truly randomized environments, not trivial changes to an otherwise static landscape. I can practically run through act III blindfolded. Could I do that if the environments were randomized as you say they are?

Which is hilarious because D3 is no more static and no less random than D2. But whatever you need to convince yourself of so that you can continue to dislike something that you spend hours at a time playing.

I was all amped up for 1.0.4... and now I'm bored again. Act III just aint' cuttin' it for me.
