There was a theory I read, actually, that the tainting on the Worldstone was slowly diminishing, so powerful heroes arose among humanity, supposedly these heroes were getting closer to the stature of the Nephalem, what humans would have been without the Tainting. Hm... What if all humanity was Nephalem? Interesting.
thats what the books say, everyone in sanctuary comes from somewhat angel and demon blood, first they mated had kids then those kids mated and so on, so everyone is a nephelam?
Hm... Well, perhaps thousands of years ago, in the beginning, they foresaw some conflict like this? Perhaps they wanted Baal to get in to the Worldstone Chamber. Perhaps they wanted all of this to happen. For humanity, they would prove themselves enduring, powerful, and more than just a cross-breed of angel and demon. It would prove that humanity is something more- a major power among the worlds. The Nephalem obviously knew about the tainting of the Worldstone- maybe they wanted to prove that humans could beat the odds, be the better race, and ultimately regain the power, prestige, and honor of their original form- Nephalem.
Are you talking about this as if the High Heavens created the relic, or as if it was created by the Nephalem themselves?

We don't know if they're choosing whom to fight. The Relic could be a very rare artifact that somehow negates Nephalem power. So perhaps they would fight anyone who tried to enter the chamber, but having the Relic made them powerless or even somewhat cloaked to the Ancients.
True. But if they can indeed choose whom to fight, it would make the relic useless.
And if they can't choose whom to fight, then I guess the heroes who killed Baal were quite powerful indeed. Then again, they did kill Baal, which kind of proves that point.

The Nephalem themselves. Sorry for the ambiguity

Logically, yes. But humans lack the strength, wisdom, longevity, etc. that the Nephalem had (or have), so they are only human, and not Nephalem. It's the general realized consensus that if the Tainting is gone, humans will steadily become who they were meant to be again.
Then I suppose you could be right, although it sounds awfully prophetic and fateful, not at all in accordance with a race of beings who knew they would always have to struggle as hard as possible to survive against Heaven and Hell.
And how many prophecies have we seen in Diablo so far?

wait, but then why is harrogath still intact when you fight baal at the worldstone?
I'm not sure what Mag says there is necessarily true. I believe the town is in close proximity to the the path to the Arreat Summit, but it doesn't physically block the path. Like the Pandemonium Fortress in Act 4, it is the last checkpoint before a point of no return.
I just figured it was because I thought one of the NPC's said at some point that Harrogath was in the pass that goes toward Mount Arreat, as was the other S------- fort that I dare not try to spell... Anyway, I figured from this map edited by Solomir some time ago that, since all three are in a line, it was a direct route:

Well, maybe "prophecy" isn't the word I quite meant... Like, take National Treasure, for instance. All those treasures were stored away, not that anyone had thought that people would find it someday (although people might have), but in the hope that if someone would, it would benefit society.
In the same way I was thinking that perhaps the Ancients regarded their challenge and the relic in a like manner. Maybe, because of the degradation of humanity all about them, they decided to try something that might not work in the long run, but in the hope that against all odds it would, and that when the desired outcome happens, it would be better for humanity. That seems like a struggle to me , kind of. Just my opinion.
