Stated many times, IN BLUE, Unity is working AS INTENDED.
This crap never dies...
If you don't like the unity thing, DON'T use it! I have 4 of the damn things and all are in my stash.
Why are they in my stash and not salvaged? Admittedly I am considering for some GRift runs down the road. Those gems aren't gonna upgrade themselves. TM they don't interest me much, and after I level some gems, they probably won't interest me again...
But this constant reference to them being an exploit is truly annoying. They are no more an exploit than the damn RoRG, less so in my opinion.
I've never been against fun exploits in the past with Diablo when nothing mattered and there was no "competition".
but with seasons and their attempt at competition it's absolutely unacceptable.
For someone like myself who is "competing" and earned paragon levels legitimately this kind of stuff pretty much makes seasons pointless to continue playing.
If there is no action taken against at the minimum seasonal players there is pretty much 0 point in continuing to play this first season.
Yeah i guess i didn't really take the whole seasons thing seriously...
But i thought that Blizzard did not include a paragon level ladder specifically for reasons like this? Which basically means that if you are competing for plvls it's not official and therefore Blizzard "can" ignore such incidents. I'm not saying that i agree with this but i can see the reasoning behind it if that was actually the case, which i think it is...
PLVLs aren't the form of competition, however when everyone has reached the near optimal gear the difference will be in PLVLs.
Now if these exploits were getting something along the lines of 10-15b xp per hour, it wouldn't really matter and the incident can be ignored since this is about the 2-3x the pace of the most efficient pace of farming in the end with near end game gear.
The different between PLVL 600 and PLVL 650 won't make or break the GRIFT leaderboards.
However when players are getting 70B+ xp per hour as it's being reported in this thread, now they are able to break into the gap where PLVLS will make a difference, for example PLVL 600 @ efficient non-exploit farming vs PLVL 800 @ exploited farming.
With this the GRIFT leaderboards will be affected since the paragon differential between exploiters and non-exploiters will be large enough that the numbers/stats will make significant enough difference.
This must be dealt with at the minimum for seasonal characters, all exploiters must be reset at the very least or they might as well scrap this season and start over.
This season was screwed from the start, there were many issues from the PTR that they didn't bother to look into. Hope they learn something from all this, I'm glad I decided not to play S1.
it's not that big of a player pool that they would have to look at if you think about it.
in order to take advantage of the exploit the players had to be in grift 27+ according to the posts about said exploit within the first week of the seasons, so it pretty much affects only players who have been pushing progression and actually competing on the leaderboards since they would have to be able to do T6+ content at a reasonable speed to take full advantage of this.
which is another big reason why this must be dealt with to keep the legitimacy of the seasonal rankings because it directly affects the players who are actually competing.
won't get fix until a few hours. let me quote a MVP on the official forums..

They don't get in to the office for hours still and then have meetings first thing on Monday. They don't get to the forums until sometime in the afternoon for those of us on the East Coast. Likely they are not going to publicly comment until/unless they make a hotfix or patch change.
That's all good for a typical DB of a small server app, which I'm pretty sure D3 (like any MMO game) has little in common with. Also, you seem to forget that a product of a scale of D3 usually has a specific debug process that any issue report passes through, which also adds some overhead. That's why most issues (non-'blockers') never get fixed immediately. So, like I said, get some patience.
which is why players like him need to be reset, an exploit like this is just simply too game-breaking when there is actually a leaderboard and "competition".

Bans are fine by me.
The line is crossed when you're doing something that you know you shouldn't be able to do. If you're standing in town pulling in tons of XP that clearly is not how the game is intended to be played. Anyone who thinks that thing was INTENDED by the developers, and not a bug, is simply lying. To me this issue is pretty black and white as it involves a clearly-unintended behavior.
You know, just like duping gold via the RMAH. Clearly the RMAH wasn't supposed to dupe gold for you. Regardless of whether or not the bug passed through the PTR, it was very obvious that the behavior in question was not intentional. And, for me, that's the only "test" necessary for bans.
I'm actually really worried that Blizzard aren't going to do anything about this other than just hotfix it. If they do nothing it will be clear that they think exploiting is fine.I do hope people get banned for this. It's clearly an exploit and anyone using it should be dealt with.

For one, I do think something more than simply hotfixing needs to be done. Unlike previous "exploits" such as Miser's Will, this one so strange that it must have been a bug, and not a developer oversight.
Well, it gets really interesting, now. How will Blizzard react to this. It's really overdue that they ban bug abusers for a short amount of time to send a message. It's always the same. Bugs get found, people immediately abuse those because they have nothing to fear of Blizzard and keep their advantage after the fix. I hope Blizzard bans those players for a week and removes Paragonlevels they earned like that. Blizzard has to send a message so that with the next bug, people will be too scared to abuse it.
Blizzard should remeber about their "no rollback" policy no matter what happens. They dont rollback hc chars if u die due to their servers so why would they rollback anything due to bugs in game? LOL
Because it says so in their terms of agreement.
PS: Don't complain about dying in hardcore.. If you don't want to lose stuff don't play hardcore. You know what you sign up for.
Greetings everyone, we are currently investigating the issue. As we look into this, we ask that posters refrain from providing specific descriptions of possible exploits in the forums - or call out specific accounts which may be involved in participating in the described actions.
That "call out for accounts" is new, so they might actually take action against exploiters. Can't remember a similar statement on previous occasions. That should get most people to stop doing this...

Just calm down and stop the hysteria. Blizzard will fix that eventually.

so 400+ legit is def do-able (I'm 425 @ HC, if it was SC I would be even higher)
I didn't powerlevel 0-70 or anything.
anyone with similar levels with less than 100 hours played is obviously exploiting.
