Hello, very interested in getting into Diablo 3, I did a few searches for some of these ,but did not really find answers, and I always like starting new topics ^^So I have a few questionss
* which character is easiest to start with? I kind of wanted to play monk but I heard that he is very gear heavy, so it might be better if I make a magic find wizard first or something?
EDIT: Keep in mind I am the kind of person who thinks sorceress was the easiest class in diablo 2, because you weren't as dependent on gear as other classes, but you could still kill things ( unlike necro)
* Would you say that all of the spells/skills in the game are balanced? Or is it like D2 where some skills are obvious choice, and others are useless?
So, day 1, got to act 2 in 2.5 hours, and met 2 more noobies who were as new as me we decided the game was
too easy so we switched over to hard, and ran through to act 3
overall I guess the game is pretty good because I think I played well over 5 hours.
But anyway I have a few more questions.
1: The rifts in ROS, I read they were supposed to be randomly generated dungeons, does this include exterior
tile sets? For example could a rift dungeon look like act 2 exterior sands? or are they all just interior
tiles?
2: are the + xp per monster kill items, percent? or base amount?
3: on the P Menu you can see these stats, and there is button to reset ( which I am afraid to push)
what does pushing this button do?
4: when gaming with my new allies, I left, and tried to come back, they had advanced farther into act 3, and I
was still at the beginning, when I clicked join act 3 hard game it acted like the game they were in did not
exist, I had to enter the game via invite, does this mean if someone is not in the exact same part of an act
you are in it won't even let you join their game? and is there any way to over ride this? joining games seems
very forced, if it won't even let me join a game where other people are in the same act as me =/
5: Does attack speed work with wizard casting time?
I really appreciate it if 4: got answered, if this is the case this is just ridiculous =/
NA servers - add me if ya want - ysoserious#1178. - i run a clan if anyone wants an invite. no requirements to join - as long as your nice and friendly your more than welcome

Interior/exterior, most anything, random.
2: are the + xp per monster kill items, percent? or base amount?
If it's % it should say percent.
3: on the P Menu you can see these stats, and there is button to reset ( which I am afraid to push)

Not sure here but that sounds like resetting your quests? If so, don't even look at it until you het through act 5.

This soinds like you simply haven't progessed to where they were yet. After you complete act 5, or if you were to join a group behind your progress, you shouldn't have any issues at all.
5: Does attack speed work with wizard casting time?
Yes, but it's not as important as other classes. Wizards are all about burst damage usually, and some run just "cooldown" spells so cool down reduction might be important to you.
Thanks for your answers, so would + xp on monster kill even be that big of a deal if it is not percent? >_> seems trivial.

So I'm playing with some people in act 3, I leave for a bit and come back, I won't be able to join them again if I wasn't friends? because they advanced a little in act 3?
I hate to say it but that is really, really, reallly, REALLY stupid. Jay wilson needs to get slapped in the face for this one =/
if someone is in the same act as you it should let you join the game They weren't even half way through, its not like they were at the final boss. Fail, absolute FAIL, it's not going to let me team up with people just because they are 2 quests ahead of me? How does it work in ROS where people can progress through bounties etc and not just play linear quest line?
Is there any way to override the default join game nonsense and look for existing games?
Once you complete act 5 you can go anywhere you want. You can even start a 2nd character and never play it in the storyline, ever.
I don't think you can advance through the game beyond your personal completion until after the first run through. Otherwise there'd be a rash of level 1's joining t-6 act 5 games....
However, I will say I usually start a new character in T1.
Also, you can create a T6 game at your level/place in the storyline and have a friend with a high end charater walk you right through, if that's your desire.
ok I didn't quite understand that part, but still, its a jenky game mechanic =/.
I play d3 for coop, so its frustrating that it would divide players so much, especially if they were just playing together.
So once I complete it I can go anywhere with any character? >_> strange.

Well no and yes.. Once you complete it, you will unlock Adventure mode. For a new char, you can't access any of the story mode, but you can play adventure right away. (nobody plays story mode once they're done with it anyway). And game mechanics are fine, players are divided at all. If you stop at a point, you can resume there with other players or look into your "Recent players" list and pm them for a invite, so the mechanics are working as they should.
3: on the P Menu you can see these stats, and there is button to reset ( which I am afraid to push)
what does pushing this button do?
The menu for when you press P is the Paragon menu. Don't need to worry about any of that until you reach max level of 70.
Thank you for that! Me and shortcut keys don't usually mix well, so I was a bit lost there. Resetting paragon points would be a minor inconvenience at best.
"My advise, just play the game, learn from playing, if u really need too ask something about anything, do it in the chat in diablo 3"
Or he could visit a popular fan site and chat with other players who like the game and who knows maybe make a few ingame connections and have fun. Oh wait, that's precisely what he's doing.
I have found the Barbarian and Witch Doctor the most easy to gear and spec. Like a previous poster has stated, Demon Hunters are a lot of fun, but tend to be rather squishy in higher difficulties (they are one of my favorites though). My Monk has been my least favorite to play due to them being rather gear dependent. I don't feel that they put out as much damage versus their survivability when compared to the other classes. Wizards felt just fine (amount of gear to actually do damage), but I did not enjoy their play style as much as the other classes.
If you have the expansion, then the Crusader is a solid class. They felt very easy to gear, did damage without gear, and have plenty of specs to play as and still succeed.
I am not trying to state this as fact, but my ranking of beginner to "advanced" goes:
So, day 1, got to act 2 in 2.5 hours, and met 2 more noobies who were as new as me we decided the game was

1: They are randomly generated with the tile sets from the regular areas.
2: Base amount, doesn't really help. There are items that give %-based exp, like a Ruby in the helm, that's useful for leveling.
3: That only resets your paragon points, but you shouldn't have any by now. So that does nothing. When you get them, pushing that button does no harm, it only allows you to redistribute your points in that tab.
4: Don't have experience with this, but unless you want to play with specific people, who can invite you, why would you not want to be grouped with players that are exactly where you are?
5: Yes, it does act like fc from D2. However there are only a select few spells that benefit from it. Crit chance and crit hit damage are much stronger dps-stats.
Also, on your initial questions:
Playing a character like a MF-Sorc in D2 doesn't work at all because of the so called "smart loot". This enforces about 85% of all drops to be tailored to the class you currently play. So once your Wiz is done, playing her further won't help with equipping your other characters. Many people like this, many don't, but for now this is how it is. Also, magic find as a stat does exist but it's about as good as light radius in D2 because only 10% of the listed value applies to legendaries.
About class power, I suppose the general consensus these days is:
top tier: WD, Crusader (both are very playable with minimum gear at 70 and outclass everything else with their endgame sets)
medium tier: DH, Wiz, Barb (Wiz is probably the best of those before attaining class specific legendaries)
bottom tier: Monk (On their own, they are a joke, however they shine in a group environment with a certain defensive spec and very specific, non-dex(!) gear)
* which character is easiest to start with? I kind of wanted to play monk but I heard that he is very gear heavy, so it might be better if I make a magic find wizard first or something?

What say you to this? people complaining about specific monk builds, and it being very hard until you get top loot.
Is the monk really this weak? That he has one viable build, and needs best gear?
too easy so we switched over to hard, and ran through to act 3

beat the game on expert mode, and got to level 35 at 8. hours. Glad I went with wizard, I read somewhere he has the highest DPS.
