1.0.8 PTR - Best Zone in the Game 270-300Mil xp/hr! [[changed]]

  • #1
Mod Disclaimer: the latest PTR patch notes show a reduction to Shadow Vermin by 50%. The area should still be good for xp-farming, but the numbers could be off.

I'm not sure how popular this zone is yet, but I haven't seen anything on it. This is, in my opinion the greatest zone in the game right now, hands down. The video says it all. Check it out - Feeback is always awesome!

Try it out and let me know your stats!

Sidenot: I'm not even using a Hellfire ring in the video!!

I really love Act 1 so I hope you discover an ultimate ACT 1 exp/hour route.. :)

Thanks for the video. Will likely be nerfed like the scorpions though before 1.08 releases.

More than likely. But you never know. I don't care if they nerd the xp of the shades and grims, I just hope they don't nerf the density. It's so fun!>

Ha...I was curious how the RoS would look in 1.08.

As CeehC said, I'm really looking forward to Act 1 runs and what can be cooked up there as far as fast, high density mob runs.

Maybe it's finally time for me to run my monk again. Else so much wasted EXP on my wizard!

Incoming nerf of black goos exp rewards (because they probably give as much xp as a Tremor?) I just hope I can do this on MP 7-8 consistently (without dying)

Nice find, great informational video. Good job, sir.

Were you using a Leoric's Signet + Hellfire when you did this?

I also wonder if it's possible/doable to do it with a Cain's set.

Yep, hence the 'wasted EXP on my wizard.' Will have to capitalize on it using other classes.

How worth it would it be to grab elite kills from like... VoA for NV?
  • #13
I agree with Ogeishere... Weeping hollow: Wretching mothers all over the place, nothing better than beating up on slow dumb zombies! Also check out Cursed hold, Skeletal Summoners crawling all over the place...
What are you trying to tell me... that I can absorb damage with Serenity?
NO, I'm trying to tell you that when you are ready... You won't have to.

Heh, nice to know my personal list of areas to test seems about right. I've been doing a full play through 1-60 and keeping notes on what each area is like for running for me in 1.07. I'm working out which I enjoy to play and which could have great improvements with a density increase. Both Shadow Vault and Weeping Hollow are on the list (I'm actually running Weeping Hollow and Cemetery now at 52 cos I love it so much!)

Thanks for the info, and hopefully they don't nerf it before some us get to benefit :)

I don't think it would be too beneficial - only because the best way to farm this is on mp10 and ignore elites completely because they slow you right down. I would say if you had ELITE gear it would definitely worth a look to get the 5 stacks

Or the Decaying Crypt? That place used to be HUGE on zombie spawning! (It's the 2 level one in the Fields of Misery A1)

That's definitely how it works right now, but keep in mind that the NV bonus to exp mechanics has been reworked in 1.0.8; it is now multiplicative instead of simply additive.

What this means is that (with all the standard bonuses of hellfire on self and follower and 31% ruby in helm), on MP10 running on NV0 vs NV5 would mean a difference of 683% vs 1195%.. almost double.

So I guess what this means (roughly speaking) is that if more than half the time of your run is spent getting that 5 NV, it's not worth it, but if it's say a quarter of your time, then that's time well spent - you don't really need elite gear for this.

Also the new NV mechanics result in running MP6 at full NV (679%) being comparable to running MP10 with none, so something to consider if you're not breezing through MP10 yet

Edit: The formula used is the one here:
