That's why I said "on the internet" in general. My own facebook doesn't have that sort of trashtalking and hating, but maybe that's because I only have a handful of friends there
The biggest reason why the patch isn't a letdown to me is not because of the content in it but because from the lack of news I wasn't really expecting any improvement to D3 before March/April. I thought they were going to start working on the patch on January/February.
And I also happen to personally like some of the changes.
I don't think I dislike the changes, the problem is, the changes that need to be made are not even considered.
That is the problem.
Dude I hear your frustration, I get it too. PvP ain't my thing. When they pulled the "big" PvP thing in favor of just duelling I didn't care. It mattered not to me, at all. I didn't PvP in D2, I didn't plan on doing it in D3. This patch doesn't have THAT much for me, but I'm not the only customer either and the initial promise was PvP by the end of 2012.
We will get ours. I know we will, it's how Blizzard operates. They have, almost certainly, already started the brainstorming behind 1.0.8. It won't be that long. What 1.0.8 holds, that remains to be seen!

To be quite honest, and I'm sure we'll all agree, they currently have plans for 1.0.8, 1.1 and the expansion. And likely even a second expansion. Yes. Jay Wilson did say on more than one occasion "great things are coming for Diablo 3 in 2013" and I think their plans are already set in motion, but development will be slow, for many different reasons.
Good things will come to those who wait. To the others? There are many games out there, temporarily or permanently.
edit: This is meant to offend anyone btw. I'm just speaking generally.
While I don't agree with most of your reasoning and some of the posts you made in recent days, I'm surprised that I'm on board with all your ideas. Really nice thoughts, enjoyed reading them. Keep in mind that some of these ideas are going to be addressed soon as Blizzard has already mentioned them (item sink, mob density, ...).
Yah, I tend to rub people the wrong way......I really don't mean to, it just happens, not just on forums but real-life too. But normally once people get to know me, and understand my personality, we get along great. I'm in the Army, where my abrasive nature is accepted....and that helps a lot.
But yah......I am not here to just flame Blizzard, and I completely understand why a guy coming to a site called "Diablo FANS" is not well recieved when I complain a lot about Diablo.......
But I really do love the game, and Blizzard, but I just don't think D3 turned out to be any where near what I was expecting. Honestly, I am not the type of person to waste my time on things that don't have value. Once I see something has no value (this includes people....which really isnt good, but it's true) I tend to avoid them, and not waste any time on them. So just by me spending so much time here, trying to create meaningful conversation about the game, shows I do care for the game.
My goal is to talk with others about the game, see their views on things, get the latest news and insight on whats happening at Blizzard......and I would be lying of I said some of my posts werent written knowing Blizzard does read these forums. The official forums are a mess, and completely overun with trolls and flamefests, It is hard to get any sort of meaningful conversation going there. And god forbid a mod say something in one of those threads.......I find this website 10 times better for valuable discussion.
But again, my main goal is discussig the game and hopefully hanging around long enough to see some significant changes....and who knows, maybe I can spark some meaningful conversation along the way that helps Blizzard figure out how to fix things.

D3 will get significant changes. I'm not sure who handed out all the rose-tinted glasses that makes people think otherwise, but the simple fact is that Blizzard is (and has been for years) a company that moves slowly, but makes big changes. Blizzard's culture is built around iteration, and they don't always get it right. From Archon Toilets to Static Shock spam to Reckoning Bombs... they've always been prone to incredible slip-ups. The problem is that all three of their major franchises aren't just games, they're entire systems in which people are highly motivated to find efficient paths... and in cases like that, the organism will do what it damn well pleases. They respond slowly and deliberately, but they do respond, and I think it's simply wrong not to approach their efforts in good faith. I've said it before, but getting the most out of a Blizzard product is not something for the impatient.

You assume I don't know and play Blizzard games almost exlusively, and have seen Blizzard at work across all their games for 10+ years.
It is my opinion, that compared to their other games, D3 is not recieving the right changes, regardless of how big they are, they are just the wrong changes. And it is also my opinion they are not making big enough changes in the time they have had. I have seen bigger changes from them, I have seen better changes from them.
So i do understand, and I agree with your points about Blizzard, however I strongly disagree that they are listening, and they are not responding in the best interest of the game.....when it comes to D3.

Just by reading the official forums a few minutes every day the highlighted part can easily be disproved and therefore - I'm sorry to say this, because you're such an active and even though critical, oftentimes constructive poster - this comes across very ignorant.
I also disagree that the changes are "small" and "wrong" - except for WoW (which is subscription-based) and expansion packs (which are being paid for) I don't have the feeling D3's patches are any smaller in terms of content being added compared to any previous patches of any previous Blizzard games (and I've been playing them for 18+ years). But obviously, this is very subjective and we just have different opinions on this part. However, you can't deny that Blizzard is listening and reacting (though slowly) to user feedback.

Yah, we will just have to disagree.
Kind of reminds me of the old movie "white men can't jump"........

I am still thinking they are hiding/saving good things for the expansion pack. These patches are just temporary things that keep us busy till the expansion

Well they're not even "major" patches. Notice the "0" in "1.0.7". Sadly we needed a lot of faster smaller ones because of tremendous player feedback. I'm sure this year things will pick up the pace again.

While I do agree with that single bold-underlines part, it is for entirely different reasons than what you expect.
I do agree that a lot needs to be changed. I do agree with the feeling that it should be done faster. I do agree that D3 is getting a little bit of a redheaded-stepchild-treatment from within their stables.
But all companies make these mistakes, more often than you think.
CCP nerfed heavy missile damage and maximum range to make shortrange weapons appealing again. Well the better solution imo, was to implement a minimum "activation time/range" to the heavy's instead so that, like their turret counterparts, they are innefective at short range and thus fixing the problem.
Blizzard nerfed Smoke Screen on Demon Hunters, to avoid permanent invincibility. Smoke Screen (and its duration) was never the problem. Discipline regen was the problem, with legacy Nat's bonus and multishot/bolashot runes. Disc regen was the problem. They should have left SmokeScreen alone and nerfed all other bonus Disc regens instead.
These thing happen all the time. And here, the part where you are dead wrong:
They happen BECAUSE THEY LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Sad part is that they listen to the wrong part of those customers. Blizz listened to the barbs and monks, where on every single page it was "NERF SS!!!! QQQQQQQQQQ!!!"
CCP nerfed the wrong things in the same way.
Every single MMO and/or MP game developer on the planet has made, is making, and will continue to make these mistakes.
It will never stop.
At least, not until the playerbase who knows better is able to calm down the crying pisspant-players and take hold of the discussion.
RIght now, however, right here in this thread - you are not (imo) being the good type of voice to listen to...
