[mod edit] Alkaizer is a popular streamer. Unless there's something we're missing, he isn't a bot nor has botted so far. He is currently (when this edit happened) lvl 97 Paragon. There's even a news post about it (with a link to his stream)http://www.diablofan...ame-developers/Zero(pS)
Hahhaha Are you his friend or he pay you to talk like that?
First of all Popular Streamer ? Look at his stream when was his First time - Yesterday ... For the First time he Streamed yesterday, if you say that he isn't a bot u are sadly mistaken Sir. from the Checkpoint he started (on the stream) we [ a TON of People] knew that he was Botting that level.
++ A tip when a Guy does level 1 ~ 95 Paragon Leveling up and when he hits level 96 Starts to Stream - > Something Fishy .... Please i know u are a Mod and i know you have "God powers" but don't speak things that u don't know For a Fact.
I'd rather listen to him talk about things that he doesn't factually know than listen to you talk about anything.
It doesn't take much common sense to figure out that if the guy is pulling 900k xp/min right now, he was probably pulling similar, if slightly lesser numbers previously. It also shouldn't take much common sense to understand that a bot program wouldn't be that efficient. You couldn't figure out or understand either of those, though...
On topic: is there anything left to say about this? The kid plays a metric shit-ton of hours with a tried and true farming method. Some people enjoy playing themselves out of content.
Last night on his stream he (or more correctly the guy who was speaking as he was playing) said he averages around 900k XP/minute and that he frequently spikes over 1m XP/minute.
I busted out my calculator and using 10.4 billion total XP, ignoring XP spikes, it would take him a total of 11,556 minutes to get from 0 pXP to max. That's 192 hours, or just over 8 days of nonstop playing.
So, really, if he were playing nonstop he'd have been long since pLvl 100. He is just absurdly efficient. Absurdly efficient. There is no bot out there that could do even 500k XP/minute and this guy is doubling that easily. His time investment is actually fairly small. It's roughly 10 hours a day during the week and 14 hours a day on the weekends to get where he is right now.
Considering that it was alleged that this guy was playing in shifts, or a bot, that's almost funny because, while it's not something that you or I would ever do, 10-14 hours per day for a two-week period of time is no more extreme than what progression raiders in WoW do on new tiers of content. It's very do-able for someone who is intent on doing it.
EDIT
Just to put some more perspective on it, if you factor in some spikes (let's up his average XP/minute to 950, from 900) then it's down to 10,947 minutes, or 182 hours, or 7.6 days. His XP/minute spikes cut off a full TEN HOURS of total farm time. That's unreal.
60+ hours a week qualifies on my time investment meter squarely at the "shit-ton" mark. WoW raiders are even more batshit crazy since they raid at all goddamn hours, day or night.
I'm pretty impressed with his progress, don't get me wrong, but he's pretty much devoted two weeks of his life to doing this. Fuck that.
I would say that, assuming he has no job (not a huge stretch in today's economy), and nothing else that would require his immediate attention (family living with him, a pet, etc.), and he's not starving himself and getting enough sleep, then I'd say it's perfectly fine to put that much time into it. I'd say it could pay off, as once he finishes, he'll be able to farm gear more effectively than anyone else, and able to make lots of gold (and/or cash). I'd call that a sound time investment.
And most of all, as long as he is having at least a little bit of fun doing it, then more power to him!

Nerd: When you say it, you best say it with awe,
'Cause I'm the type of nerd that will bust your jaw.

No, I don't know the guy.
But I'm positive I saw Alkaizer streaming/playing before yesterday (pretty sure at least 2 times last week). Could be on a different account or through one of his friends' streams. On early Paragon lvls people were already saying he was a beast and farmed 100x faster/more efficiently than Kripparian. He was gaining 3-5 lvls/hour early on (iirc).
5k viewers all at once, peaking 7k when I was watching it -> I'd say that's popular, considering you can get money from a couple hundred already.
You might have missed the part of my edit that says "unless we're missing something", which is a clear indication of my statement possibly not being correct. I was merely pointing out what seems to be the consensus right now regarding whether or not he is botting. I doubt there's a bot out there capable of farming the way he does. The checkpoint is used by a ton of legit players, that's hardly "proof" that he is botting.
I never stated anything as a fact, that's something you did on your post. Might wanna follow your own advice. I know that you're probably just mad at someone being better than you at something, but don't direct that anger to me or state things as a fact (saying he is botting with 100% certainty) without bringing some concrete proof to the table.
guess i was a bit late to upload the picture of it anyway.
tried to put tin the portrait unlock but sadly the stream quality went down by a ton when it was showed.

EU Season Achievement Ladder: Season 1 : #773, 7150/7880 | S2 : #742, 5970/8280 | S3 : #1000+, 810/980 | S4 #? 0/? |
did some fast calculations, patch hit about 8/21 -1 pm and hit hit 100 9/6- 9 am and thats about 16 days and 2 hours ago or 386 hours.
now it took 10.500.000.000 exp to get to 100 from 0
so 10.500 mil / 386 = 27,2 milion experience an hour. and as he only played about 10 hours a day. you need to make that number 2,4 times bigger 27,2*2,4 =65,3 milion exp an hour playing. 10 hours a day for 16 days.

Well it's against the ToS for one. You can't use the AH as an "investment vehicle", which is what buying up items and reselling them is. Considering they won't ban obvious gold farmers, autohotkeys MF switchers, and paragon botters in a timely manner to make it not wortwhile to do so, I'm sure you can continue AH camping. The question I have for you is this: When Diablo 3 was released, were you really excited and couldn't wait to spend hours looking at a list of items?
You're completely wrong concerning the ToS and "investment vehicle." At its very basic definition, players would need to be buying items and holding them for an appreciation allowance; that is, buying things they believe will increase in value in the future to be resold. Purchasing something and immediately reselling it for a profit is not "investing," it's simply trading or buying and selling.
Perhaps there are players who actually invest real money into items in the hopes that they appreciate for profit in the future, but those types are few and far between, and most certainly not those being referred to when speaking of "playing the AH."
So please, stop using the term "investment" like it's a catch-all for buying and selling items. It's not. Even if it was, it's primary reason for being in the ToS is to cover Blizzard's ass if some scrub launches a civil suit against them for damages because he lost his pixels for whatever reason.
That is the reason Blizzard gave a guy who was doing nothing but "playing the AH". He initially thought he was banned for AH botting, but upon submitting a support ticket the reason for the ban was given that you can't use the AH as an investment vehicle. I fail to see how flipping items or holding them long term differentiates the fact that you are investing gold in order to make a profit, short or long term does not matter. Also, the post was not directed at you, and my question about if people were actually excited that D3 was out so they could look at a list of items and numbers for hours still holds true.
While some, and I wouldn't rule myself out in this particular instance (despite admittedly not giving that kind of venture much thought), might consider that justification to be an ethical preponderance; At the end of the day, the TOS quite clearly indicates that the game and everything in it are the property of Blizzard. That includes our accounts, items, and anything else until one actually has cash deposited into their paypal account.
Again, I think this is a true and bothersome rift of grey area when it comes to intellectual property rights, but one cannot seriously enter into the prospective venture of investing into this game by that manner without acknowledging that risk. Until some kind of judicial verdict is rendered on the matter (and I don't know how far this line of reasoning has been in court), I would consider such an investment to be an absolute gamble. Blizzard doesn't even have to give a reason for banning a user.
tl;dr: I wouldn't say there is a systemic problem per-se with "playing," the market; however, it's obviously a risky business and I would advise caution.
And who cares of a bot gets PL100 first? It doesn't effect you and eventually if it is a bot it will get banned.
I do, its like winning the Tour de France while being doped. Nobody will remember the 2nd place winner years later, although he is now officially the winner...
Do you remember who was #1 in the 3rd D2 ladder season? Probably not. Years later no one will remember who was first in pLvls either, unless some website keeps that data recorded for us, of course..... but that's not exactly the same thing as remembering on your own who got the world first Illidan kill 5 years later, now is it?
Depends entirely on who it is and what it is. I'll always remember Krip being the first and only person to kill HC Inferno Diablo pre patch just like I'll always remember RussBarb being the first Vanilla D2 character to ever hit 99.
I played D2 for years and I've never heard of RussBarb
I think these people's names will be remembered by the people who follow them and log on to sites like this every day. Your average gamer probably has no idea who they are. Or if they do it's actually due to the rise in popularity of gamer sites and vids - that sort of thing wasn't nearly as prevalent back in D2's era. Honestly the "prestige" aspect of games exists only in the minds of people who obsess about such things.
I hang out here and at MMOChamp all the time and that's the only reason I've ever heard of Athene and Kripp, because they get on the front page. I've never actually watched any of their videos or streams. Oh except the one where Athene typed in his password while streaming and got his account ninjaed lol (I think that was Athene).

Anyone know how much played time it took him 1-100?
