We don't see much WoW stuff going on JSP now do we ^^? I mean in diablo II JSP you can buy anything from a cracked short bow to perfect Faith bow down to the 1 AR ^^. And a lot of games go on in JSP, you can almost make a whole critic of each game's trading system by putting them up on a table. Which games has the most transactions going through each year. Diablo II number 1 (crappiest trading system or NON at all) and (this is just an example) Starwars Galaxy whatever or WoW (decent trading systems, or really well through out ones).
We dont see wow stuff going on jsp because you can farm anything in wow yourself and you cant put any gear into the ah besides shit thats BOE which in most cases is FAR from the best gear. Diablo 2 on the other hand works totally different since you can trade any gear you have regardless and most of it is ridiclously rare and hard to find(unless its duped but w/e) and if this is the same in D3 there gonna have a hard time keeping shit like JSP from dominating trading, but its blizz im sure they can pull it off

Which doesn't at all explain why jsp is better.
Forum gold or whatever it just another form of currency, which has been forced into existence because there is no in-game currency to support trading in any form. In a way, Diablo II's ingame economy is the victim of insane inflation, deflating the value of in-game gold because it's so easy to find.
On the other hand, WoW gold is hard to come by, and there's no real limit to how much you can carry (as opposed to D2, where you're limited to your stash, which can actually be filled). Subsequently, gold in WoW can function as a currency for trade, thus reducing the need for an out of game trading feature.
At the same time, WoW has an in-built trading system, the auction house, that allows quick and efficient trading between players.
And depending on who you are, you can buy good gear that is BoE, the most usual occurance is when you have a twink and need to get good gear for the battlegrounds. Staff of Jordan comes to mind here, and staff req. lvl 35 that would often go for over 600-700 gold on my server. Not to mention all the motes and primals in TBC that was a great source of income.
So I still don't see how d2jsp will have any chance if Blizzard designs a solid enough system.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Im not trying to explain why JSP is better in anyway I personally hate the damm place even tho I used it for a couple years But guesss it IS better for D2 in a way since currency in D2 is hard to handle(duped runes, 32020s sojs etc...) but I still hate the damm place. I agree what if blizz manages to get a good system in place JSP will not be even close to as popular as it is now.
Also why do you say wow gold is hard to come by? I played through all vanilla and TBC and gold wasnt that hard to get espically once dailys got on the go lol :P.
And BOE gear pre level cap is generally trash unless ur a twink and anybody can buy it it doesnt depend on who you are XD
There was something about the chaos of setting up games (or randomly trading in game) items that made the trading fun. I think an auction house would ruin d2, d2 had that feeling of going to a marketplace and bartering one good for another, sometimes if someone was in need you got a good amount of items(even before all the duping began). Even though one could argue that the trade system was hectic or non-existent in d2, it was original and (even for those like me who didn't buy anything online) fun.

I quit playing shortly after daily quests came into major play. Even so, more gold isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as it is still able to retain its place as a reliable medium of trade.

Anybody can buy anything on d2jsp as well, it's all a matter of time.
Theoretically anyone could get an epic mount in the original WoW, but not all did, because a 1000 gold was a lot in the beginning. Theoretically, anyone can buy a BotD in D2, but not all do, because they simply do not play long enough to get the requiered items.
It's all a matter of playing long enough to gather enough items to trade for it.

D2jsp will be used for D3 if you are trading items for fg, or if its just like WoW and you can only buy in game Diablo gold for fg.... It will be used, there is no doubting it...

I agree with you sorta but getting an epic mount in vanilla wow by farming gold or mats to sell for gold was a LOT easier and far more reliable then say trying to make an expensive runeword in diablo 2. You can farm hell meph andy chaos or w/e you wish you may never find anything worth shit lol and even if you do its VERY random when compared to WOW....but this is going off topic now
Either way lets hope Blizzard makes a system that works with the diablo 3 so we dont have to use JSP

What would the reason be then to trade in-game gold for forum gold if you can trade for in-game items with gold? There's no added reason to first convert your own gold into forum gold only to get it back into gold again.

Well it doesn't really matter how rare it was to get, the reason D2's in-game economy failed was because of the depreciated into nothing.

Bottom line is Blizzard is going to have to make a pretty looking place for all players over B.net to meet and trade. An easy to use, effective, graphic friendly, little house for trading only. Using a search system like Guild Wars where you can locate certain items you want. That place is going to have to be able to fulfill what JSP is today for Diablo II. They have to make it so that JSP is obsolete, so how are they going to achieve that? I really hope they are coming up with a real good plan, because you can buy anything from a SoJ to a Car with FG. Guy from Norway i think bought a Mustang imported from America with FG. That's not a joke, it was told to me through a trusted member of the JSP community. So...Blizzard what are you going to do to keep your players trading in your world and not JSP's.

one of my buddies on jsp actually mentioned the car for FG thing to me....i still cant believe that tho man LOL it seems ridiclous
I would like nothing more to see a Blizzard controlled site or feature that would cause d2jsp to come crashing down.
Blizzard could do it. In or out of game they have the capabilities to do both. Gheed's "Black Market", buy and sell items just like WoW's AH. The downside of this system, competition... everyone's going to know where to look and everyone will undercut everyone else.
Everyone says, including myself, we don't want a WoW influenced Diablo. Frankly, thinking of game mechanics and features... I will thank WoW before its over. Blizzard knows how to make great games (aside from balance issues), I am sure they will amaze us by what they will be doing.
Watch... d2jsp will start a whole new curreny for D3 items... Forum Platinum... and everyone is left with worthless Fg.
Another thing I came up with is the fact that there will be a lot of returning players coming to D3, these players haven't probably played in the glory days of JSP and don't know a thing about it, many of them have played WoW recently and used the auction so they probably expect something similar nice system where you can trade in game.
Then there will be completely new people into diablo series, they don't know about JSP either.
These people probably don't wanna bother to register to a forums and start gathering forum gold when they have gathered nice amount of ingame currency and items. They just wanna continue trading there like they did from the very first day of D3.
How does this affect on JSPers? Well it will get harder and harder to make deals when huge amount of people use the ingame system.
you know a kinda liked the auction thing in wow(the 2 weeks I played it). but I'm not sure if it fits in diablo. I think an official forum is a good idea. kinda takes out the spam everything you got idea, I noticed in WoW a lot of people put out a lot of stuff that was almost useless, ingame auction for diablo would probably have the same effect. The forum idea I think would reduce that, it would also cut down a bit on the whole idea of completely raping inexperienced people out of their loot. once people get ready to trade they can find the forum and start looking at trends and learning what the value is of items. I think I'm all for a forum.

Cant say I know for sure but from what ive been hearing its gonna still be FG still and a lot of old time users are hording the fg like mad for the D3 release to ensure they get the best gear.....if its similar to D2 where rares are the overall best gear but only if it has ridiclously near perfect ultra rare modifiers on it then chances are none of us will ever get to trade for that kinda gear(unless your on jsp of course)
Kinda makes me mad I wont be one of them people.....I got very rich off JSP back in...2004? 2005? cant remember now but I got a 90% warning level and gold lock for like multi accounting and scamming like 30 people in a day LOLOLOLOL

An AH is way more practical than a forum in that sense.
Inexperienced people put up stuff to se if it sells, and if it doesn't, they stop. Useless items are usually not that big of a problem. Since you can always search for what you want, there's no real problem to it as I see it.
You're definately able to monitor trends in an AH however. You quickyl learn what raw materials, crafting materials, rare items and the like sell for.

Then when I wanted to use it to buy something Id need the monopoly corporation to sell the item to me.

You could never fill your inventory up on WoW like you could in D2 which really depreciated it's value, coupled with the very minor use it has in D2.
oh well....yeah hes right there
