Why is the over sized armor point being repeatedly ignored by the Diablo 3 team?
When they addressed the petition they mentioned everything except it.
I might just be outta touch but I've read every news article and interview and such about the diablo game and they have not once discussed the armor being oversized.
Most likely because everyone screaming about the graphics is covering up things that actually might be changed like the size of shoulderpads and other pieces of armor.
I mean just think about how many color/art direction threads we've seen here rather than just oversized armor threads.
I don't mind the graphics on the 3D models, but I would prefer better graphics within the inventory display...having all items fit into the same size really sucks, because a big item doesnt feel "big" anymore...there was a nice feeling to picking up a 6 slot great axe and thwunking it into place...and you could see a lot more detail on the armor and stuff. I think this is the biggest loss we have graphically.
Na screw that! I played Diablo for normal sized shoulder pads! This gets me vury angry like i want to punch a blizzard dev in the face! That is how mad I am! FOR SERIOUS!
I almost think that everybody who wants to see detailed 2D representations of 3D armor in Diablo3 forgets that this is the first time you actually see the unique pieces of armor you get on the character in game. So is it really that important that you see this in your inventory? Creating high resolution models and taking 2D images of them doesn't seem to be cost effective, nor is necessary this day and age. Not when we can see individual items on a character model in game.
I actually think that blizzard will add more shaders and materials to the armor and weapons as the game nears completion. I think this can be done with a minimal rise in min-spec machine requirments and can add a lot of texture and life to the environments and items. The reason why I think this will happen is simple:
A. This is something that would be added later on in the development cycle
b. Even WoW has simple specularity on some items, thus I believe we can expect to see at least see some shiney/dull metals on items.
That petition is so funny, really, it's hilarious. They don't want to try something new. I doubt Blizzard would care if they lost 60,000 buyers, when they're gonna gain tenfold that number in new gamers. I bet you all those who signed it are gonna buy the game, lol if you think they won't.
Blizzard have a standard look and feel to their three games now.
Like it or not, that is the situation.
No amount of complaining will change things.
Your only solution is to go elsewhere or (like me) silently get over it.
At least our heroes get to wear pants this time.

what bother's me just as much as the shoulder pad's is the exaggerated belt.
seriously... what the hell is up with that?
LOL, its inspiration was WWE. The Barbarian now also performs moonsaults off walls and the Witch Doctor does a nice Sweet Chin Music.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.

I completely agree with that man, At first there was 3 different games all with their own feel. Diablo's feel was very different from Warcraft's Feel and Starcraft also had its own feel.
now we still have all the same franchises, but I feel instead of the "Diablo" feel or the "Warcraft" feel or the "Starcraft" feel we just have "The Blizzard" feel, and that's not good.
Each franchise should keep its own Identity IMO.
I'm all against stealing from their own games... It makes each game loose its identity.

Though that's a valid point, some things work well in a franchise and they decide to use it in another just because it works well. This is sometimes good because its useful for that game as well is another and they don't have to lose money and time creating another type of that 'thing'. Videogames are, afterall, a business. And as they say, "time is money"
I'm not against the art direction, but at this point in time, it appears that they're making excuses to not attempt a darker game.
It leads me to assume they're incapable of pulling off a dark game. Like they've gone too far in a direction that they can't turn around.
I'm alright with the art direction but the armor is not stylized to diablo.
This is by far the most anoying thing about the game production process, The fans and team have little or no communication, save for the Bashiok mook that picks and chooses to answer the safe questions. I'd be great if they responded to a few of the topics that they read, but I can see why they wouldn't, when they'd even say anything you would all spam them and render them incapable of going anywhere with the person they're responding to.
PM'ing the folks that they want to answer would probably be the answer but will they? No, because they don't want to talk to one person they want to talk to everyone.
I'm not mad, i'm not incline to arguing, I'm just a gaming nerd, I want to buy a product and I have my concerns. I want answers, not distraction.
whats your point?
if you like it, fine. but i want a serious game
Well lets see, the barb in D2 wore a fishnet body suit under his armor and giant winged helms. However I don't remember any pie throwing or clowns. Diablo2 was still serious, and I'm assuming since Diablo3's story revolves around Hell, Heaven, and the survival of the beings of sanctuary I think it will be a pretty serious game. I dunno though, A pie throwing skill would be pretty cool.

im refering to exageration
a fishnet? do you sey this wiht those 3d render pic of the barb in the internet? i just cant picture that in game...
if the helm was any smaller it wouldnt fit his head
it think it clear, by watching the video in that part the barb is talking to cain, that the pauldrons are more than 2x bigger than in diablo 2 barb armor
Na screw that! I played Diablo for normal sized shoulder pads!
If you really played Diablo for normal sized shoulder pads then you missed a hell of a game, because it had alot more to it than that. But i have a feeling you didn't buy the disk after saying "Look! Normal sized shoulder pads!"
If I was fighting demons and awaiting the imminent barrage of angels, I'd want the biggest pads I could easily carry. It only seems reasonable that the barbarian, after being out of the game for 20 something years, would play it kindof safe.

so on that ground, lets just wow it all up. wow everything up. The WHOLE game industry should just be wowified.

Oh noes! look at the size of the horns on that belt! It's so unrealistic I hate it! Whhhhaaaaa. I want realism! Whhhaaaaaa.
