I've been using this picture a bit lately but I honestly cant help it, this is too funny.
Can I use my AKA "hand cannon" OoOoo... and use an explosive round in it, then shoot it at you to get an affect like this.
Dont tell me to shut up either linx, ever. Or whatever your name is because you know I wont. I'm reporting this thread as it should be in the suggestion forum to begin with because it is NOT a real topic, it is NOT realistic for the diablo 3 franchise, it is merely an IDEA. GG. Thx for playing. You now have 2 lives out of 3 remaining.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
There is a fine line between speculation and suggestion. This thread has migrated toward the latter. Big deal. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone upset over the topic being moved to the suggestion forum, and even more hard pressed to find anyone who thinks that such a thing makes the thread any less real.
I just don't understand why you get so offended. It's as if I ever met you in person and, heaven forbid said something you disagreed with, you'd call me a stupid face and tell me my shirt is gay for being too blue. And then I'd only have like... 1 life left.
Being in the suggestion forum, I suggest you talk about the suggestion now, not me. Thanks

They don't show the animations for loading the crossbow/bow do they?
They do to a certain extent with bows, not so much crossbows, as it takes 4 times as long to reload a crossbow than it does a bow.
The action of firing an arrow from a bow leaves one hand virtually next to the quiver to grab the next arrow to be fired.
The only animation you got was the drawback, the split second of an empty bow then the drawback again.
It's too hard to do the animation for reloading a crossbow, what with you having to put you foot in the hoop, load in the bolt turn the cranks to put tension on the spring.
So they left it out I guess, same with loading and reloading muskets in WOW. There is no loading of the wad, the powder keg sometimes it was a sealed cloth bag with power in it, other times they just poured powder straight down the barrel, the second wad, the steel bearing bullet, and there is no ram to make sure it's all packed in nicely. I do not even recall any lighting of a fuse in WOW.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
When I said, "I don't understand why you get so offended," I meant by that to ask you what is offending you so much. Since it's the suggestion that seems to be offending you, I figured the topic of the thread was implicit.
So, now that we're on the same page. What about guns in diablo 3 offends you anyway?
My issue is, is that I dont GET why you would bring guns into a fantasy setting, a lord of the rings type of setting. Warcraft has guns, it even has tanks in it. Why mix that with another blizzard franchise as well. Its seperate. As for them not making sense to me, they just dont. When i think "guns" in the diablo universe, I think of frodo pulling out a gun and blowing off a goblins leg. It just does NOT register logically.
Dont bring a gun in a knife fight.

Wasn't the argument that it would be too hard to do the animation for the cannon? Why is this being held against the cannon and not the crossbow?
I don't know. I am not the one on trial here. My hip hurts, I'm in the middle of cooking a turkey, I got warrantee cards to fill out. I am not just making up excuses. Oh alright I talk.
It requires more time and effort. It's easier to forget the whole thing. It's a minor thing that most designers do not consider, but despite multiple discussions by fans, it will never properly be implemented. Not in an RPG, this is not some FPS like well all of them or RTS like AOE III.

And do you really think that a high end unique gun in diablo 3 that drops is still going to look or be anything like a regulare shitty hand cannon? Take world of warcraft for expample. The guns are simple blunderbuss's. That move up to freakishly high powered strange looking rifles with automatic features. World of warcraft is not the best example, but it is an example none the less. Do you really think if they bring hand cannons into the diablo universe there will not be rifles or any other high powered end game things, how would that logically make sense if there was NONE of that for higher end gun drops for gun classed gear?
Off topic a bit ... since you insist on realistically comparing diablo to the real world. If so, why would you even need the main heroes in the story with the above statements stated. Just arm a bunch of militia and there you go.
Do I want anything like that, or anything that could become like that in diablo. No. I would not even touch the game when it is released. Make no mistake about that.

Do you understand that Rifles and regulare pistols old school pirate style (whatever the hell you want to call it) is right around the dang corner from cannons O_o.
I am really glad I dont have to look at this junk anymore in the other forum or i might go insane with how dull some of you are. Yeah.. Officially i'm done posting in this thread. If I make one more post here in this thread, you can officially flame me any way you like. goodbye.

The Crossbow had a blank speed of like 2 seconds to reload doesn't it?
The gun could fit into this for more than just that reason, I mean the lead director brought up recently that the rainbows are illogically positioned and that it didn't matter, it's their game, their rules, so by that token a gun could fit because it would be missing the integral loading procedures. Even more so, how is it that a throwing knife can do equal damage to a Crossbow or bow, it shouldn't yet it does. It's their game, they'll do it their way.

Yet, you see both weapons shooting once every tenth of a second...

Depending on what kind of quiver I have. For example, I just purchased a bow and a quiver and arrows, and the quiver goes on the waist, thus it would not leave one hand virtually next to the quiver.

There was none. >.< There was an aiming part, but no lighting of a fuse.

Here's my biased opinion.
Hell no please
And why do you feel that way?
NEW RULE:
When you say you do or don't like the idea, you must give a reason as to why you do and/or don't.
i dont see guns being practical at all considering the early fire arms took forever to reload ... also their terrible accuracy
But that's what we were talking about a few posts up. Crossbows took forever to reload, and if you can use magic to make a arrow chase a person down, you can certainly use magic to make your accuracy better.
And just for the record, dexterity does NOT help your aiming a bow. I should know...

i understand both sides of the arguement however i hate guns in games like this (mythos)
guns take away from the personal aspects of slaying a foe more so than bows and crossbows even.

Wait I didn't know that Mythos was going to have guns in it.

But magic is fine?...
Are you saying you only want melee classes like the melee version of the druid, the melee version of the paladin, the melee version of the assassin, and the barbarian?

I do think it would be very likely to see them in the game as siege cannons or maybe NPC using the hand cannons.
It will be very basic if they're in the game at all.
