When the expac was announced we knew our gear would be obsolete when the expac hits. At least you can sit on your gold or blizz bucks and get back into the game. Now if anybody has put in the effort to get good gear or accumulate lots gold it seems like a waste. Taking away the ah feels a like a reset and a slap in the face for people who worked hard to accumulate gold. What am I missing?
Sure it's a slap in the face for people who worked hard to accumulate gold. So what?
D3 is about killing shit, to get good loot, so you can kill more shit. The whole problem with the AH was that too many people were doing that with one eye on their gold balance, and some people were doing it with both eyes on their gold balance. That's pathological, IMO.
That gear would be devalued was known since gamescon ppl started selling a while ago.
As for gold I am pretty sure more is more no matter how things turn out.
I really hope that they will introduce the ladder.
This way, when the ladder kicks in it won't mean anything how much did you do until now. All you did will be moved to non-ladder and the community will start anew to justly compete.
Did diablofans alrdy datamine what looks like ladders and resets?

Yep. And even better, Blizzard confirmed it in blue posts by talking about ladders / seasons / resets. (they also said your paragon XP upon reset of ladder would be put into your non-ladder character pool).
well you are missing the core of diablo ... KILL stuff to get loot, not dont play and only buy stuff that you never use anyway because plaing is "not efficien way to get best gear/fastest gold"...
You do realize that the best loot and most profitable way to play d2 is from trade.. right? The AH being gone won't change that. In fact it means I'm going to be profiting way more than I do now. You can see even with the ability to price check your item in 10 seconds, people misprice things all the time. It's going to be way worse for the casuals that want to trade when it's all about bartering.
Now if you were to say "I don't care if you don't have wealth transferring over to the expac. I was not capable or didn't enjoy playing the AH. So this change makes it so I can play self-found and do mediocre" I'd say more power to you and glad you're speaking the truth. Instead of that nonsense I quoted.
Take of the glasses man, take them off. No AH is a good change, but it's not going to make playing the most efficient way to get the best items. Thankfully for you, you don't care about the best items as long as you can play the game your way and don't feel obligated to trade.

Absolutely right, but I don't care about getting the best items. I just want upgrades for my character. And it feels better to find them yourself than to buy it off the AH.

I think I covered that with the next sentence for that quote. "Thankfully for you, you don't care about the best items as long as you can play the game your way and don't feel obligated to trade. "
I completely get that a lot of people don't care, but a lot do care about getting the best items. The proof is in the fact that 2% from perfect items are worth 10-100x less than the perfect item. Which is why I said the above.
People who care about the best items already use 3rd party sites. AH or not will not change anything for them (they will just stop their flipping activity).
3rd party sites get their stuff from ppl on jsp. Btw "flipping" is very much a thing in d2, even more so than in d3. Since it's more rewarding, though it does take more effort.
If it's anything like d2, the best items did not go to 3rd party sites unless they were duped.

True. I've seen a blue post with the magical word "ladder" in it.
Anyways, when it gets official then there will be A TON of butthurt from the die-hard people who actually enjoy the current game because all their time and gold and money invested so far won't mean anything in ladder. Sure, they will mean something in non-ladder, but when the ladder is up, who will care about non-ladder?
I dislike ladder for the same reason I don't play hardcore characters; I hate seeing all of my hard work disappear in the blink of an eye. Some people like the thrill of racing to the top or the thought that if I die, that's the end. There will be quite a few people playing non-ladder, so I think you're a bit heavy handed with the whole "ladder is master race".
