This was before the announcement of the RMAH. The last post here was 20 July 2011. Coincidentally the RMAH was announced on 1 August 2011 (http://www.mmo-champ...eal-Life-Money!).
And now that Diablo 3 has been released, it seems I was wrong about Blizzard never supporting selling items for real money. But I've been absolutely correct about everything else, mainly on the fact that it destroys the whole point of playing the game.
As Kripp said what is the point of this game, when credit card warriors can just buy the best items in the game, and for what? What for? The game is pointless.
And when Sixen, author of the thread, and the biggest Blizzard fanboy is criticizing the game lack of endgame, i.e. the lack of a point to this game, then you know that Blizzard has really fucked things up.
So, one year on, I feel vindicated in being proved right that Diablo 3 has no point and RMAH makes the game pointless.
tired of ppl crying about the ah. would you rather that ppl still bought crap off of chinise farmers? it was gonna happen weather bliz added in the ah or not. you dont like it then dont use it, pretty simple.

edit: sry reffering to rmah ofc. bit sleepy
Sadly not that simple. Yes, some people would still spend money on items, but it would me a lot less if it wasn't legalized. And what RMAH has done to regular AH is just ridiculous. So even if you don't use it, it still affects you.
i think the point people are missing is in most major rpgs people will buy and sell items on ebay anyway, so why not make it part of the game?
nothings changed here, instead of people buying items on ebay, they are using the RMAH
I still don't get how the RMAH and "credit card warriors" ruins the game. It was rampant in D2. Maybe more people buy now, I don't know. But, who cares if they do? This is the wrong game to play if you're looking to brag about your ranking. Not only is a lot of it PvE, but the PvP won't have a rank, AND it's matched by gear, so it is unlikely you're going to be beat by someone who has an advantage over you just cause they bought it. The only legitimate complaint that I can see for it ruining the game is if you really, really, REALLY enjoy the economy part. But even then, you now have a new method to use, and one that can possibly make you money back.
The other ways it "ruins" the game was if you care about your epeen, or if you buy from it yourself. Particularly that last one. There isn't any point in farming for items (which oh, btw, you probably aren't getting to till after you've put in ~50ish hours already, which I would say means you at least got your moneys worth) if you can just buy them cheap.
Wow. PU dropped some of the biggest walls o text this site has ever seen on the last couple of pages there.
I get more lulz out of watching the old video where characters jump over gaps, climb down ladders, and, of course, the notorious specialized character deaths.
How does the process of people buying the elite gear hurt this game, hurt your gameplay at all? I absolutely do not get it. All the folks that complain the RMAH is a system that breaks this game - please explain it to me.
They have great gear that they bought and didn't earn through hours and hours of farming and or trading - so what. Does that fact stop you from clicking mouse buttons on your own or in a group? Does that person with uber gear that they bought, while in a group with you, make their mouse clicks and keyboard mashes any better than yours?
I think the complaint really is..."I don't think its fair that someone has better gear than me because they have more money than me." I get that your EGO wants to be stroked because you want the attention and recognition of spending hours and hours finding that uber gear. But it doesn't stop you from clicking mouse buttons.
Here's another glimpse to the real source of the complaint - elite status to be able to SELL or TRADE these items. If you have the best gear and it can't be bought with real money, than you are in the minority to the vast majority that doesn' have what you have. Which makes you ELITE. Which means, you get to control prices (to some degree) and get compensation/reward through gold, status on Youtube Videos, etc. When someone can get all that same recoginition through a credit card purchase...that deflates your ego a bit and then makes you feel like the game is broken.
Am I hitting too close to the real truth. The game isn't broken. Your desired need out of the game is being broken, by you.
Now the only LEGITIMATE arguement that i can buy into is PVP. If you spend months getting great gear to become a god at PVP and someone else can do the same with buying some gear - I could see how that might hurt your EGO. The only solace I have for you is that, as others have said, it would have happened anyway. They would have gotten their gear illegally. Granted as those who complain have said "if there was no RMAH, or AH - than those getting gear illegally would be a smaller crowd" are correct - lets be honest, its still a slam to your EGO. And you don't want that. I say don't worry; the person who bought gear is also going to have to have gameplay tactics and style that can beat yours. So worry about that - not how unfair it is to your EGO that they bought their gear.
ya, and some of us want to make some mula on the side through the RMAH so stop bashing ''credit card warriors''
besides, did you look on the back of the diablo 3 box? the RMAH is part of the fun.

Basically straight-up fraud.
