If i'm correct the XP is the same for each player no matter you play with 1 or 4. Only the mobs and bosses get more HP etc but don't give more/less XP.
Although....you can clear faster in group then solo, so i would recommend go in a party.
Yup. XP is the same no matter how many people are in your game.
THe xp is not slipt or drop, or get higher if there are more people. The xp does get smaller if you are fighting mob much higher level then you. I was level 5 in the catedral level 2 + and each mob was only giving me 4-6 xp whereas the mob before those are the graveyard gave me 200+ xp. The mob in the cathedral are around level 8-9 so idk if we can power level people.
the devs said there are pretty strict xp caps.. if your in a area to low or to high you get near 0. so my guess is the only form of power lvling will be friends helping you blow thru quests fast and maybe gathering large groups of mobs to kill them.. but baal run types sound like there not going to happen in d3

Since the question is thoroughly answered already, allow me to go slightly off-topic and say that your signature is awesome :Thumbs Up:
When playing in a group, the total Magic Find of the group will be divided equally amongst each player. Here is an example given by Blizzard: "The group consists of four players. In total, their stats are 50% MF, +20% GF and 10% XP, each of these players will have a 12.5% MF, 5% GF and 2.5% XP being in such a group." (Source)

Assuming all 4 characters are the same level, If a monster in a single player game would give 100xp, then in a 4 player game, each player would receive 100xp. There are xp penalties though, if players are too far apart from one another in terms of their levels. Also if you are in areas much too high or low for your level. In other words, no powerlevelling your friends.

Each kill provides same xp has alone. Experience is like loot in D3, if you are near a mod that dies you get normal exp for you alone.
And if you kill a mob by yourself in a 4p game you wont get x4 exp You still get 1x exp.
Makes sense ?

So if one person has +4% the other 3 players have 0%, everyone gets 1% (even the guy wearing the +4%).
Food for thought.
Edit: Found the quote in the Magic Find recap.
