Looking at all the sigil's that'll be available in Diablo 3, I couldn't help but notice that a few looked fairly familiar. Though I did just finish reading a Song of Ice and Fire series so it may be a little fresh on my mind, these sigil's stood out to me.
I've never watched or read the Game of Thrones shows/books, so forgive me; aren't the Starks and Lanisters two families in the story? If so, it seems like a pretty obvious reference.
I dunno anything about the seals of the houses, so if those are close to matching too then it just seals it.

Yeah, all 4 sigil's in the pic are families in the series, and the sigils look shockingly similar to the ones displayed in the novels. Sweet reference, if it is indeed one

Ok i made an error there.I meant Blizzard skill runes. The fourth rune.
Ah, Stark Winter. Lol you could have just posted that and saved us the trouble of looking it up
You had me pouring over the images of meteor, and I had no idea what I was looking for, lol.
It could be either really. The dragon is a standard fantasy figure so no surprise there. And the lion rampant is one of the most common elements of heraldic imagery. The wolf might be a throwback to the druid from D2, as well as the stag actually.
If there was also a kraken in there I'd be more convinced

I think you got the wrong idea from the image. Some one wrote the family names next to images of some sigils, they aren't named that from blizzard...
So its not an obvious reference, but in stead is either a coincidence or a not so obvious reference. There are many more family crests/seals in the books than the 4 portrayed in this thread. I counted 20 at http://unrealitymag.com/index.php/2011/09/08/the-full-game-of-thrones-family-crest-line-up/\
I think it is just a coincidence, althought they do seem slightly out of place in the Diablo universe.
Ok i made an error there.Sorry for misleading.I meant Blizzard skill runes. The fourth rune.
Adjective:
Severe or bare in appearance or outline: "a stark silhouette against the sky".
Unpleasantly or sharply clear; impossible to avoid.
Stark Winter
Increases the size of Blizzard to cover 22 yards, dealing 210% weapon damage as Cold over 6 seconds.
Focus on definition two. If it's a stark winter it's impossible to avoid. Increasing the area that blizzard covers makes blizzard harder to avoid.
LOL I CAN'T BELIEVE WORDS HAVE MORE THAN ONE MEANING AND PERHAPS IT'S COINCIDENCE OR MAYBE IT'S JUST THAT THE FANTASY GENRE ATTRACTS A MORE LIBERAL USE OF A THESAURUS. NO LOL!! EVERYTHING IS A REFERENCE TO POP CULTURE!!
EDIT: Damn copying tooltips from the websites, makes everything look different. Next time I'll just write them out and save myself the trouble >_<

I didn't know this. That makes more sense. I'd see what they're called ingame before you decide that it's a reference then.

I don't get it?
Looked at the runes for Meteor, can't say I get the reference there though. Care to explain to the unenlightened?
