I started playing when the game first came out, and my very first character was a wizard. It was fun until I got to Inferno and everything one shot me and I kept running out of AP so I had to spend all me time running away and kiting. That's when I decided to play something else.
Now I'm back to playing my wizard and survivability is greatly improved, even on Torment II, with all the vitality on this new gear. And I never run out of AP even though I have 0 APoC and I'm running Disintegrate /w Entropy. I'm not using any defensive skills either so I can focus all on offensive buffs like Familiar /w Sparkflint, Magic Weapon /w Force Weapon, Energy Armor /w Pinpoint Barrier. Trash mobs all die almost instantly, and elites die very quickly after popping Archon.
Yeah at T3 I start running out of AP and kill speed goes way down. It seems the most efficient XP/loot per time is to play at the highest difficulty that you can go all out offense and faceroll stuff without slowing down. That might be possible on T6 with uber gear.
Did they ever say how much of a health/damage multiplier mobs get per increment of Torment? Or how much of a legendary drop multiplier?
You may actually want to progress into the end game before posting sweeping inaccurate statements about a class.
Every wiz I see in T5 is sporting a pathetic toughness rating of maybe a quarter mil,and absurd damage rating of, again, like a quarter mil. If that isn't the absolute definition of glass cannon, then I don't know what the fuck you are talking about mate.
i'm not sure that's true for lots of wizards. I have 220k dps 960k thoughness and farming t6 atm and lots of ppl on my friendlist / clan has 3-4x thoughness of their dps when farming torment 4+ u can probably build the numbers close to each other for lower torment difficuties with passives and gear but it's definetely not in case with higher difficulties most of the time u won't have time to use defensive abilities with 250k thoughness at t5 since u will probably get 1 shotted by elites.
Overall, since the patch/overhaul, vitality has been on a lot more gear, diamonds are being added to sockets to increase All Res, and Wizards have a lot more defensive skills to protect them, like a variety of runes that build shields. In other words, I'd say that Wizards could be seen as much less glass cannon-y now.
Then again, due to smart drops giving Wizards so much more Intelligence and Vitality, and itemization overall seeming to hand out slightly less crit chance and crit damage, when the expansion comes out, I'd be interested to see how many Wizards out there choose more defensive SKILLS, but on gear, choose to enchant much of the Vitality and +%Life and perhaps even All Res off their gear in favor of more crit damage and attack speed and offensive based affixes.
Toughness has nothing to do with the class that you are playing. None of the classes is exclusively glass cannon... None ever was either. Maybe in the very early days of inferno when basically all the classes were glass cannons.
I got ~250k dps and ~1.2m toughness on my Wiz... Not a glas cannon. A friend of mine has ~500k dps and ~200k toughness now that's a glass cannon. Has nothing to do with the class itself.
^ that said, it's easier being a Glass Cannon with the class that has a passive that makes you fragile but more deadly. Also, with things like Force Weapon, Familiar and Shields all boosting dmg, it's even easier.
To me, the Wizard is still one of the easiest classes to build glass-cannony. Mine has 370k buffed and only 600-700k EHP, she "feels" very fragile in higher Torments.
With the new smart loot system every class will automatically have a lot more toughness than pre 2.0 patch, because almost all items will roll high vit and all res. There really are no crappy rolls on defense stats anymore, and that allows players to min/max gear a lot more efficiently.
Any player/class can be glass cannon in RoS if they choose to be...finding the balance of dps/toughness for the type of farming you are doing at the time is going to be the key to enjoying the game, and getting the treasure you seek!

Playing as a wizard in T6 with 1. 5 mill toughness, I still feel considerably more fragile then a barb or monk. High level torment is punishing without that extra 30%.
From what I understood from one of the earlier interviews about legendary drop rate increasing over time, it was said that it would only kick in in the more extreme cases of bad luck. Most people (like, almost everybody) would never experience this increase of legendary drop rate, but find loot regularly just from the normal drop rate.
But for those with a really bad streak of luck, say 8+ hours without finding a legendary (although the time was never specified exactly), the chance would slowly start increasing and then reset after the drop.
I've seen more and more people talking about this as if something that was always ticking up though, and phrases like "I hope this Key of Hate did not reset my legendary drop rate ticker". From what Blizz said about this, there is no increase in legendary drop rate, unless you have been without a leg drop for a seriously long time.
I believe you are correct. I don't know where people got this idea that it's like sharpshooter (going up every second until you get a legendary then reset). According to the blue post they will "throw you a bone" only if you get completely screwed by RNG for well after 2 hours.

Is this how wizards will be in RoS?
