I have been toying with the skill calculator for quite some time. It wasn't until recent that I started to develop a certain knowledge of how I want my wizard to play out. I want to wreak havoc across my screen while being in precise locations performing signature spells on specific and random targets at the same time!
Thus, my desire for illusion was born. There are massive energy twisters all over the map, but where is this wizard? He's off regenerating arcane power to unleash even more energy tornados with additional 75% damage dealt. This is thanks to Prodigy and having two signature spells to cast. Shock Pulse will make a great supporting regen spell to go along with a 20 yard Spectral Blade.
As was detailed heavily in the premise.. Energy twisters will dominate my spell casting. I attune it with Raging Storm to provide larger AoE for the random movement twisters. Casting them together will extend the damage they already did to another 6 seconds, while expanding the tornado itself. I hope firing more twisters will be allow for the creation of several tornados on a screen.
Wormhole attuned Teleport will be keeping me far from harm. Mirror Image will provide for some security while traversing the map and also provide some more AoE damage in a 4th damage type when attuned with Mocking Demise. Energy Armor will increase my AP reserves thanks to Energy Tap and give me the necessary armor boost to rely on to stay alive.
Illusionist provides my, oh shit things are turning against me, escape. Prodigy will help to keep the AP flowing for more tornados and the occasional teleport/re up Energy Armor.
Finally, Arcane Dynamo will make my two signature spell build flourish. My Energy Tornados will be doing massive damage. Assuming I can keep several on the screen at once due to it's lack of cooldown, I expect to wipe the floor while always having a steady stream of AP regeneration through damage dealing.. all while at medium distance to my enemy.
Let me know how you like the idea! Thanks for taking the time to read my explanation and look at my first build.
only need 1 signature spell and energy twister is kinda lame because it doesnt take up much area and its really random. The only energy twister rune i really like is Storm Chaser because it turns it into a passive that casts 3 mini tornadoes every 3 signature spell casts on its own AP free.

not feelin your build yo
Thanks for the insight on signature spells. I look forward to playing with the twister's viability as I do like the idea a lot. Wasn't in beta though. Means I can throw in Meteor and stick with one signature spell.
btw slight misunderstanding on Storm Chaser rune my bad:
casting Energy Twister grants you a Wind Charge. You can store up to 3 Wind Charges at a time. Casting a Signature spell releases all Wind Charges as a giant Energy Twister that deals 75% weapon damage as Arcane per Wind Charge.
The following skills are Signature spells:
Magic Missile
Shock Pulse
Spectral Blade
Electrocute
Energy Twister is just a bad skill. This is not a troll post; I was like you and thought/wanted it to be an amazing skill, but after playing around with it for 30 minutes in beta I dropped it. Unless they completely revamped the skill between the last beta build and release I can't see anyone using it for a serious build.
Since it's so easy to swap skills you don't really lose out on anything trying it, but I can assure you that after seeing it in action you'll be looking for something else as well.
The only Energy Twister version i like is Wicked Wind. 42% weapon damage per second for 35 Arcane Power is really sweet. With Temporal Flux you also have a extremely consistent AoE/Slow spell.
Storm Chaser is unknown. I don't know if the giant twister is random or not, if it deals all damage at once or if this damage is per second and if using 3 bad spells make up for a good one. It's a complete unknown variable to me, but i'm glad someone like it.
Don't like the other 3 versions since they have the random low DPS nature of the original...
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"In time the hissing of her sanity
Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days
Why would we really need to live?
Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth
