Let people theorycraft... it's the only thing us non-beta players have going atm...
I'm fine with theorycrafting. There's a vast difference between theorycrafting and simply stating that the WD will be the easiest class to play through Inferno solo.
you really have no argument, your just one of those people saying "stop speculating! QQ rage rage". in diablo a class is only good as his skills without gear, obviously. and looking at all skills for all classes you can deduce that the WD is by far the easiest, not just for his ranged skills but because of all of his CC's and minions. the difficulty of inferno is pretty much irrelevant entirely in this argument. because even if the monsters are crazy smart and hit super hard the WD still trumps the classes in survivability according to his skill set. because if inferno monsters hit so hard that the minions die, you'll pretty much insta die as melee and die much faster as wizard/DH without minions, STILL making the WD better at surviving.

Have you played D2? Have you seen how beastly melee can be? If anything Necros ans Sorcs were a joke... ya you have alot on minions.... but a kicksin could telekick you in the junk and your dead... there is alot to consider when comparing ranged summoners and melee... Blizz won't just send melee in with no survivability skills... I honestly think Monks and Barbs are gonna be tanky as shit and most likely be highly requested as teamates in Hell/Inferno.
If Blizz wanted to make a crazy OP class they woulda gave us Deathknights...

lol true. but i was strictly saying for your FIRST time SOLOING the game. so without buying gear, without gear/money for other classes, just the first character playthrough solo. D2 melee got destroyed in hell if you didnt have great gear. insta death was often.

What's not understood in this thread is that there won't be a single character who gets through inferno mode first. It will be a group of people. The ability to solo inferno mode will only come from top end gear, which you get from inferno. The first character to solo inferno will be whichever character is able to get the best drops in inferno mode after playing through it with full 4 player games.
I know I'm contributing to this way off topic conversation more, I apologize, but the statement above is wrong. Blizzard has said you will be able to solo the entire game. Sure, parts of it will be much harder to do so, but it will be doable. I'm quite glad for this as I won't be playing with other people.
Also, about the whole Witch Doctor pet thing, I know nothing for sure since the game isn't out, of course, but I do believe you'll still have to gear up before going into Inferno. Your pets aren't just based off that really good weapon you get, they're also based off the rest of your gear. Other pieces of gear besides your weapon increases your "basic attack damage" on your character sheet, and that number is what all your spells/pets are based off of. So if your gear sucks, you won't be killing anything fast, your pets are going to die, and if they're on cooldown you're going to be screwed if you're relying on just your pets.
Another thing with pets is, there are monsters that will teleport and start beating you in the face while your pet is still off attacking something else. There's also monsters that summon stuff right on top of you. So your pets keeping aggro isn't always going to save you. This is all based on what I've seen in the beta, I'm sure inferno is going to kick ass way more!

gave you +1 ^_^. i agree since blizz said its soloable that doesnt mean "oh you have to have insane gear" in order to solo. also they added the follower skill calc and by the looks of the templars skills it adds INSANE survivability to any class therefor making it ALOT easier to solo hell/inferno. and giving the WD another "pet" :P.
yes gear CAN increase your attack power, but unless your TRYING to stack attack power on gear, it wont be some insane boost, and if your gearing for inferno you would definitely not be trying to stack attack power. so again just a good weapon is needed for damage, and then your minions + skills + being good at the game, will still make the WD easiest to go through inferno,
will be very easy to survive without "awesome hell gear" for the WD, id say good NM gear with SOME hell gear since you will obviously aquire some with a full playthrough of hell and a good weapon will allow this build to go through inferno at an ok pace and beat it before other classes that lack the minion meat shields to survive. will post results of this build and gameplay on my first playthrough on release to show the non-believers.

How do minions health pools work, though? Are they based on your health? That's the main thing I'd worry about - if they were based on your health and you didn't have decent gear their HP would be pretty low and they'd get wrecked.
But I have no idea how their health is calculated, I would just assume it was based off your HP.

well lets see, if they are a set amount, your gear further doesnt matter. BUT if they are based off your vitality, they wont get some insanely huge hp boost by a few more hell items, the stats on hell gear VS. nm gear isnt going to be so massive that its going to say double or even 1.5x their health. and who says the hell gear you find has tons of X to vit anyways? could have none or very little, further making no difference to your pets life.

I'm hoping they at least give a base stats increase on your minions like they did for skeles in D2, that way they aren't completely useless in higher difficulties

Well, we don't know that for sure yet. There could be enough extra vitality on each piece of armour on Hell gear that it makes a great difference overall once you add it up - and that might be enough of a difference to make your pets' health pool noticeably larger, if that's how it works.
That being said, I hope we won't have to try and stack vitality gear on a Witch Doctor to try and make our pets decent tanks (though I imagine we'll want a decent amount of vitality on any class, come Inferno).
I'm finding that I can't be happy with any Wizard builds I make because they always seem to be lacking something or another that I really want... to me it's one of those classes that doesn't feel complete with only 6 skills.
Does anyone else feel this way?
I haven't messed around with a lot of other classes builds, but when I'm looking at Demon Hunter builds I usually do end up feeling like I can't get everything I want. At first I had a build I was happy enough with, then I read what the runes do for ALL the DH abilities and I thought, "Damn, such and such is awesome with a rune in it." even though that ability didn't appeal to me at all before.

well if the WD has ANY hope of beating inferno solo his pets will definitely need to be able to tank so im assuming they will be able to take a real good amount of hits without dying. if his pets die within seconds while fighting inferno monsters the WD goes from the easiest to the hardest class, lolol

Of course it's possible to solo the entire game. I guess I should have rephrased what I said, but I was responding to someone who was arguing which character would be the first to clear inferno mode. While it will be possible to clear Inferno with Hell gear, it will hopefully be Hell gear that takes a lot of farming to obtain. Inferno gear should be significantly better, so soloing inferno after receiving gear from doing group inferno runs seems like it will be much more popular.

obviously there will be a group of 4 good players who clear inferno "world first". i was talking about the easiest class to beat inferno solo in general.

I am voting for Witch Doctor.
He just has so many meat shields.
So on top of your 5 pets + 1 Follower, charm converts one enemy into a meat shield, and you also have the possibility of mass confusion and zombie wall.
When you add all that up you have an entire army of minions at your control.

I think the DH will be extremely strong, though it'll take a little more effort to understand how to ration out hatred and discipline well. But the payout after learning should be well worth the effort. The WD is another class that will be extremely strong. I think it's up in the air between those two.
