In the demo at Blizzcon the Wizard had I believe the lowest health and they should. Problem was that it was like really low. They really made you not sit there and tank as much, then again that is how Diablo is unless you have really good gear so I am sure the same formula will follow here.
Yeah after all the wizard is a "glass cannon" as Blizzard says it, so they are very fragile. But as Seth said, I think that items will no doubt be a great benefit to reinforce your healthy life.
So long as the stereotype persists, Wizards should have a lower life point total than the other classes. 'Glass cannon' pretty much sums it up, but I liken it to a car competition - the Wizard/W.D. is like a car built for music; you can drive it and it blasts mega decibels but you hit it a one or two times and it pretty much starts to fall apart. The Barbarian is like an eighteen wheeler, this thing can go the miles and take the punishment. Finally, the Monk is like a well built demolition car - it'll hit you and keep hitting you all the while being hit and asking "Is that all you got?"

Avast ye! Scyberdragon be te thank for the sig, arr!
But I believe the wizard will have ways to change that if he specialize a little in the defensive side (for exemple, the stoneskin and many other shield spells).
Class: Tier II Skill Tree: Conjuring Required Level: Clvl 5 Prerequisites: None Effect:Increases total health of the Wizard and duplicates in the spell Mirror Image by a percentage
I think i would have to agree that it may become unbalanced with too much health. I think it really depends on how dependable those spells of the wizard is going to be. So far from what we've seen...looks pretty powerful to me
Items have always been the focus of Diablo. The stats do like nothing except let you wear gear. In Diablo II, with the right gear, you could easily make a melee sorce, but left to her own devices, a sorceress will always be glass cannon. I believe it will be the same with Diablo III. The gear makes the char.
