So I thought it would be interesting to see exactly how much life you could generate, this may be overkill but look at all of that life regeneration. It would be pretty hard for something to take you down with your spirit walk and all of those spells.
Definitely an overkill. But it's amazing that WD has so many opportunities to regain mana and health. And passives are amazing (Blood ritual must have for most build).
My build has Blood Pact and healing as well, but only from dogs, spirit walk, and soul harvest. I plan to grab some mana leech in the form of insect swarm or spirit barrage, but also CC is pretty important, so I would grab that gargantuan stun or at least Mass Confusion. Also, any build without BBV is just asking to be dropped from a group. BBV is the ONLY buff the WD has, so it's probably gonna be on most people's bars who are grouped. There is healing from BBV, I would suggest replacing a summon or damage spell with it for parties.
makes sense but I tend to put more emphasis in a pvp build for all my builds. It will still be able to handle PvE as well. I see what you're saying though. Your's will be strictly PvE and you want to help your team as much as possible. RIGHT ON!
I'm interested why you didn't take Rush of Essence. Since most of your spells are spirit spells it pretty much guarantees you will never run out of mana. Then you can pick up Pierce the veil for awesome damage.
Seems to me that using the life-as-mana deal means you GOTTA pick up pierce the veil, since you're basically doubling (at least!) your mana, effectively. Then with spirit spells returning your mana, you can pretty much just watch your health bar as your primary resource, which of course is being replenished like a mofo.
I also dropped vamp from Firebats--it's pretty shitty vamp, damage I think is preferable--and picked up Big Stinker Gargantuan for a fourth damage type (arcane/fire/physical seems slightly limiting).
This is pretty similar to some WD builds I've been messing around with, it looks like fun
with PoV you're actually changing that to life with BR... I think you'll be to flimsy when casting. If you're in trouble (health wise) you wont be able to cast=death
Yeah, I hadn't really considered it, but I'm definitely group PvE focused.
I think the best thing for PvE and PvP, however, is a happy mix of survivability, damage (both single target and AoE), and health/mana leech that is not beyond what's necessary. Unfortunately finding this happy mix will probably take weeks of actually playing the game to determine, followed by adjustments based on gear at max level.
I like the concept and i'm thinking of adapting something similar for an HC build. Can't quite justify any serious theorycraft though with the limited data avalible. Particularly i'm wondering how the orb drop rate changes at higher difficulties, or if the various summons are competent damage deflectors, and perhaps just how much reliable life leech is necessary to offset the health as mana passive (while casting regularly) -which could very well be crafted out now, but i'm not inclined to try. =)

Although I think this would also mean that killing a boss could take 20 minutes, instead of 5 =]

Gargantuan will stun your enemies allowing you to steal some life n maybe get away with spirit walk.
Fetishes serve the same purpose. Keeping things or people away from you while you leech life.
check it out n let me know what u think
