So other than for Ubers and Keys and maybe a challenge is there really any point in doing a higher MP?

    No. Nail on the head.

posted a message on Just hit level 60 yesterday, having trouble getting a good farming build
There are some good acid cloud builds for farming act 3 MP0. I like using darts + CC. Darts are low mana cost and have a HUGE ranged. I can dart really annoying demons from off the screen and never get hit. I think WD is a bit more gear dependent versus other classes. You need 30k dps or more and at least 50k health. But it all depends. Honestly, I think you should find something you ENJOY and just do that until you find enough items worth selling to buy some upgrades. What's the point if you're not having fun?

Right now I'd say monk tempest rush is very likely the best farmer.

posted a message on My monk feels too glass cannon, looking for gear advice to up survivability
My monk (alt) is similar to yours in a lot of ways, but with twice as much health and about 2k life on hit. New rings and amulets can have a lot of life on hit these days (600+ amulet, 400+ per ring). Upgrade your vit gems to Star at least (my monk has crappy gems, but she's an alt), get new rings/ammy with life on hit and you'll probably feel better. Also it depends on what MP you're going for. My monk's DPS is only good enough for MP3 or 4 or so, but her survivability is good. Molten causes issues for me, arcane not as much, desecration is fine if I'm only in 1. Here's my monk's armory:

Also you might want to consider the Resolve passive. It's worked well for me.

I've seen a similar build which uses a 2H weapon + spirit generation items, and focuses entirely on tempest rush. This one almost seems more viable for elites though, which is what it's all about right?

Same here. I noticed it after I crafted my Hellfire Ring. I'm suspecting the proc effect traveling great distances after the animation vanishes. Does anybody without the ring experience this?

this was happening to me long before I ever crafted my first hellfire ring.

As a rule of thumb you shouldn't follow people's rules of thumb, especially when those make no sense whatsoever.

Get as much as you can. Just calculate the DPS gain per gold invested in the item and try to maximize that and you'll be good to go. As long as you know how to use a calculator and use the AH and actually have the patience to do it. If you don't, then just buy random stuff and you'll be just as good as all those who follow the silly rules of thumb (even better if you only buy via bidding last 5 seconds, that way you rarely pay over-priced).

What he said. Use a DPS calculator (like DiabloDPS.com) to calculate whether that ammy with more crit or the one with more crit dmg is better for you (just as an example).

Of course it also depends on what you're critting for. Is it for resource or just pure DPS?

posted a message on Starting a new WD need advice please
Attack speed is better for fast base weapons. Honestly 1h daggers (not ceremonial knives) are the best for attack speed since they are 1.5 base speed. For 2H you want crit and crit damage. I've been using a dagger + thing of the deep with lots of attack speed and the dps is perfectly fine for me, but if you want to see huge numbers it's not right for you. Also, if you go the fast attack speed route it's good to get chance on hit to CC stuff (fear on helm, blind on ammy, stun on gloves) and it's a lot cheaper than resist all gear. I'm running with flaming dart, fire locusts, grasp of the dead (the extra slow one), soul harvest/spirit walk, and leeching beast zombie dogs. I use Pierce the Veil since the mana drain with my build is practically zero, gruesome feast for more DPS (and because my pickup radius is 45 yards) and grave injustice for more grasps, faster dog respawn, more spirit walk, and more 5 stack soul harvests (and also, with a 45 yard pickup radius it's pretty fun).

WD is a versatile character, I've been playing mine since beta and release, and nothing compares for fun. I'm squishy, and die really easily, especially above MP6, but mobs don't really hit me all that much, and with enough LOH and life steal it's easy to get back the health I lose.

Honestly I think just play around with some stuff, see what you enjoy. What's the point if you're not having fun? Here's my profile:

I doubt there are many people using a similar build, but I really enjoy it :)

If you mean, 1100% weapon dmg in 12 yards aoe, with a 25500 heal with no cooldown is weak.. You sir are out of reach... Im now confident your problems is not various affixes,, but rather a problem placed around 30 in front of your keyboard.

http://eu.battle.net...YUTQ!dhT!aYZaab and correct gearing = win and easy mode win.

Problem with people like you is, you have no idea how it plays actually. Its really really bad for farming and its only viable for bosses or in party. Even then there are tons of specs that are much better...

I tested it tons with almost perfect gear. Its not good. 1100% weapondamage?? It crits for 1/3 of what my bears crit with worse range and close to no area damage.. ;)

That's because not all 4 explosions will EVER hit the same target (or HARDLY ever). Really it's just 275% weapon damage.

and as a side note, I don't think IAS is good for zombie bears, too much mana drain. I think int/crit chance/crit dmg are better choices for zombie bears. IAS works great for darts/firebomb because they don't cost any mana to cast hardly :D
