Look at my monk dynas#2970
I had to swap gloves for non ias ones + pick up radius. I have 150k dps unbuffed and I do alkaizer run in 9-10min. It is not perma tempest rush because sometimes i have to stop and hit 3-4 times to get my spirit back but it is usually when my SSS doesnt kill an alite pack so anyway i'm forced to stop TR. I'm thinking of recording video but i still think someone will be faster than me.
BTW I don't like soj because it's expensive and i lack of dps while using it and then i have to turn around to kill trash more often.
Stone of Jordan alleviates all of your issues, damage and spirit regen. Whether you enjoy the item or not it just fits. Get one even without the Sweeping Winds bonus if you are concerned about gold. Your SSS is probably not killing the elite pack because you don't have 20+ % bonus to elites.
I'm trying this out (and btw getting 4.75 s/regen is hard while keeping up dps), but I'm noticing I'm having to run back and forth in mobs. I'm curious what damage level do you need to do a one pass on most mobs for this to really be fast?
Ill need your bnet profile to actually help you. You wont be able to just run through fat mobs once, but most things should be dead in a pass or wiggling pass. You just have to adjust things as you understand the build more. As an example I deviated from the shell build I gave as I felt that Firestorm was giving me faster runs than having too much run speed and having to pass multiple times.
PS: I have cleaned up the guide a bit and rearranged a few things due to the positive response. I will add a section expending on what other item bonuses interact with the damage snapshot for those that wish to gear swap, but it is no where near the top of my priority list at the moment.
When you hit a larger group of mobs, I tend to run into the center and then do a quick mouse circle/flip, so that the monk does a quick 360 turn. Depending on the size of the mob pack (larger) you can make a bigger circle. It seems to be more efficient than just running straight back through, as most mobs tend to clump up on you.
I too had switched to use Firestorm several PLevels back because the runs did go faster. However, I've been experimenting with Cyclone because the tornadoes do proc quite a bit and they allow me to move on with one pass for most packs. Sort of the poor monk's version of a Barbs WW build
Free lesson in game mechanics on that one. Not a lot of people know that. So for the gear swapping aforementioned the Won Khim Lao as an example will make your physical attacks and by proxy Tempest Rush deal Lightning damage. Which will be increased by the special ability of the Won Khim Lao which states Lightning Skills Deal x% more damage [not to be confused with Add % to Lightning Damage]
I am a bit skeptic about this. Any confirmation or testing done?

There are multiple concepts in that excerpt. What is your actual question [as your current is incredibly vague]?
For me, Fire Storm works better, cyclone depends on chances too much, I have over 50% crit chance and yet it doesn't pop all the time. However when they pop, it's really good, can just leave them and you know for sure the mobs behind will be dead. I would say in average, both are very similar, but one and BIG advantage of fire storm is the animation, it's way cooler and fun compare to cyclone. And TR is all about having fun so Firestorm for me
Thanks for stopping by Invis. I actually got a lot of my information from watching your stream.
Just to keep you guys in the loop, I have reformatted this guide, edited it, and toned down the language/sarcasm to appeal to a broader audience as I have submitted it in the contest.
I just didn't want you to worry that I lost my sense of humor, love of vulgarity, or vindictive nature after you've read it. I will be focusing on maintaining that guide until the end of the contest.
A nicely put together guide. I run a similar setup with the exception that I gear swap to take advantage of the sweeping wind mechanic. Basically I get the SW damage from a 1444 Skorn and gear with 585 CD then I swap to a gear set that includes a fist weapon with a shield. That set provides ~58 % Crit Chance.
Granted, Im using 15.1 spirit/sec (based on an attack speed of 1.51) but the damage output is insane. Ive got my spirit generation up to 14.9 so Im close and could get enough if I equipped a SoJ in my second set but I opt for a HF and a Leorics for the exp factor. I would link my builds but I guess I need 5 posts for that. Soon perhaps.

i've been doing this for my keyfarming/uber runs. And i was thinking of doing it for my TR paragon farming. i already have a soj and hf and i have plenty of other rings for crit dmg swap. my normal tr gear/skills gives me around 17 spirit regen, so maybe i need to try this out. My SW swap gear has like 532 crit dmg. But i need to figure out how to get that crit hit chance up on TR gear

Here is a video I made of me doing a short run with my TR setup. I flash the gear both before and after the run. Pay close attention to the stat listed on my shield near the end of the video
damn dude, how are you getting 28 spirit/sec? i like that shield. i wear a SOJ with TR cc bonus on it. and that is a lot of gear swapping. lol i dont macro mine, just keep spamming the SW button. And the other tip i took away was the wkl with spirit regen. guess i never thought to look there. i think i sold one of those back in the day. lmao
so, i need a better xeph with some cc on it. a diff wkl with spirit regen, a diff SOJ with the SW dmg bonus, Inna's with SW dmg bonus. Maybe borrow my wiz's Withing hour.
Do those boots really help that much? cause i really like my Ice Climbers

I think that 28 you saw was my pick up radius I run with around 14.9 spirit/sec i think.
As for the gear, the SW bonus items seem to really help. You can get a madstone with 14% SW and spirit regen but no CC. That is just an example as of why gear swapping works so well with this build.
This focuses on everything weapons damage related, CC is not included in a SW snapshot. I include 35% extra attack speed in it because Blinding Flash scales with attack speed and since BF is part of the SW snapshot, its a win-win.
i couldnt get a 2nd SOJ with the Sweeping Winds bonus, and i dont have a Leorics ring either. Since i dont have Leorics, i can wear my other SOJ (or an attack speed/cc ring) and pull 15.7 spirit/sec with OWE or if i change OWE to Exalted Soul, it goes up to 16.82/sec. not too shabby. Of course i could always change cyclone to Inner storm if i really needed it, but i dont. lol. I was still questioning whether or not it was better to use blade storm or firestorm rune rather than cyclone. I have 47.5 cc with 2nd set and you had 50% and it still didnt seem like it proc'd a whole bunch

Set 2: http://d3up.com/b/190279

As for the firewalks, they tic for about 4-5K damage but mainly I use them cause they look kinda cool
EDIT: Had to do a Battlenet update of those sets, they were a bit dated. All set now though.
