This is a beta-content issue. By the time you have a full arsenal of abilities, you are literally running around 2- or 3-shotting entire packs of monsters. Or, god forbid you have three items with damage reflection on ... try standing still for a few seconds and you may notice that most mobs one-shot themselves. You can barely complete a combo before you want to dash over to the next pack, and you end up trying to dash for maybe every 2 or 3 swings of a generator. Or, with lashing tail kick or cyclone strike... those basically become "kill everything immediately" buttons. Its hard to use spirit generators when you are running around setting off nuclear bombs.
In that situation... yeah, you are going to have spirit issues. The solution is fighting mobs that are a little more your own size, so it feels more natural to actually get a punch in here and there, instead of just dashing around mashing AOEs and watching stuff die.
Down the road, when we do have content, there are also different playstyles to consider... want to be very spirit-based? Use a daibo. It has spirit regen. It has passives to increase spirit generation. It makes your spirit big-hitters more powerful. It also takes a bit of power out of your generators, since they are slower, but makes you depend on them less for spirit.
Want to be more generator-based? Dual wield. You will have less spirit to throw around, and your abilities like cyclone strike wont hit as hard, but your generators kick ass.

I already thought of this and conducted a test. I equiped terrible gear, and ran around and beat the game. It is true that I did have more spirit, but not tons more. I did use lashing tail kick slightly more, but it felt like it hit for diddly and felt even more like it simply wasnt worth it. imagine spending a whole minute to gather enough spirit for lashing tail kick, and it cant even kill one stupid zombie...

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
I think people looking at monk builds are focussing far too much on dps and in that case I think the spirit amount is acceptable. I dont have the beta but have watched lots of film on youtube and have seen very few times where the monk has run out unless spamming dash. The monk doesnt have much armor and will need to reduce the damage taken by attackers. Especially in Nightmare +. Also, Does anyone really like the mantras???
One three hit combo is almost enough spirt to do a Dashing Strike. In most situations I see the Monk as a character that will focus on priority targets in groups since Dashing Strike is such an effective distance closer. Most of the damage you deal is going to be with your generators so as long as you save enough for that first initiation you should be generating enough spirit in battle to use whatever skills you want. And like someone else said, as your items get higher in level you are more likely to end up with affixes that help you generate spirir.
