Hey all, I bought about 20 some mil worth of DH gear, got about 120k dps with SS, I think around 200% crit Dam but I am getting owned bad. Sometimes even 1 shot, 2 short by archers. I do have 26k HP, but no resistance, 19% speed. I got 174 speed on my Bow as well, 600 Life regen. I can't get the slime boss with the poison cloud down past 40% before the whole room fills.
I use Preparation , BL, Piercing arrow, the multiple traps skil, Smoke Screen & Bat. Using SS, Archery & Steady Aim.
Should I sacrifice some DPS for resistance? How much would you recommend?
Get back prep (instead of traps), swap SS with SP/Gloom and swap the bat with entangling shot + heavy burden. Mix arrows with slows on the boss. Gloom-tank the slimes and zerg them with BLs (never run away from them if you're not in a gas cloud). If you have enough discipline, Gloom-tank the boss until he casts the next cloud to save up some space. Should be easy with your DPS.

Oops I meant to say I replaced MFD with Preparation. I guess I"ll have to try those other skills out, been using these for months now. Thanks I'll try that tonight. Should I bother looking for some resist gear though? I got about 45 Disc
Well, it takes some time to adjust to abilities you didn't use before. Also, you may want to adjust/change the tactic to what you're more comfortable with.

Rapid Fire:
Rapid Fire works very strangely with Gloom. When I first used it, it felt like the leech wasn't working at all, so I scrapped this build. I would just use gloom while using rapid fire and I wouldn't regen any health at all. I thought to myself, "Yay for Blizzard, another broken/bugged skill". Later on I did some act 4 with rapid fire with the piercing rune and I noticed something strange. If you use rapid fire after gloom you get the leech, but you also keep it for as long as you are channeling it. For example if I use rapid fire for 30 seconds after using gloom you will maintain 20% life leech even after gloom has gone. It seems like it counts the entire channel of Rapid Fire as one shot. After that I revisited my idea of using it on bosses with ballistics. SS is kind of crappy now and night stalker seems really nice with decent crit chance, and super fast attacks. Put that together and you got yourself a cheesy build for killing bosses.
I had a lot of trouble with this one. Probably 50+ attempts. What finally worked for me was using impale + chem burn for dps on the boss and fan of knives with added range for the adds. Caltrops with jagged spikes will help dps the boss as well as the adds. Kite him around the outside of the room in a big circle, trying to keep the clouds as close together as possible. I had less damage than you, so it can definitely be done.
Gave up on act 3 for now..guess I should have bought some resistance gear grrr..I paid a tank to get me past him for 200k, 1 shot him I need to get at least 300 res..just dying way to much to fire bombs/poison...200k repair bill after that ffs

I definitely think that you need some resistance. I have about 400 resist all and 45k hp. I also do about 147K damage with sharpshooter and about 55K without it.(Don't have the cash to buy gear with critical chance right now so SS is a cheap alternative) I can solo up to act 4 inferno even though I still die on some difficult champ combinations.
I know that it will be expensive to upgrade your character, but it is impossible to survive in inferno without resist all and vitality. I got frustrated with the glass cannon build a long time ago and have been a tank hybrid ever since. I have about 44 discipline and that really helps too. Sorry for the bad news but I don't see any other way for you to survive in act 3 or higher.
It's not Act 3 that you're having trouble with... it's Ghom. Getting a few resists isn't going to help with this fight. Most people are severely struggling with this fight and I spent 2 million in repairs trying to beat him.
There are a few videos on Youtube that give some decent tactics. I went with the Entangling Shot, Caltrops, and Flying Strike to slow him down. You have to try not to run too far each time and just move to the edge of each cloud that he lays down. You just need to slow him down enough so that the first clouds start to dissolve by the time you move around the room.
Spam flying strike on him whenever it is available. The 2 second stun will keep him from casting a cloud.
The rest of Act 3 is a breeze compared to this fight.
Thanks for your respones but yes I am having trouble with Act 3 in general as well, 1 shots a lot, poison/arrows mostly. 26k HP is a bit low but I wouldn't call it glass cannon, well maybe cus i got no resists lol ( suicide cannon :). I do have about 14m right now, but that's not gonna do a lot. working on lvling a monk right now and I do have a decent MF/GF set so since I am a bit bored of farming act1 which is pretty much all the set is good for I might just do a monk to 60 and try MF/GF running with him to switch it up.
So I should work for about 3-400 AR and 35k+ health in order get past Act3/4 right?
I was fed up with paying 200k on repairs on Ghom, so I just paid a tank to tank him for me for 200k ehhe. I am not abou to blow 2m on a fight that's just nuts even if I had 100m+ lol
@Kingslayer, overall your gear is better than mines but this is one tip I've noticed about going from act II to act III for myself. I find myself always trying to preserve my discipline for when I run into champ packs, basically staying at max dps till I see an Oh shit situation.
Even though I'm not a glass cannon, as soon as something flinches at me a certain way, now I pop my SS , or SP/Gloom + Caltrops/Jagged spikes since I have some LoH.
One might think that you are wasting Disc, but most of the time all you need is that one use to avoid a one shot death, and can survive to make the space and get the kill, especially if you are one that tries to move right to the edge of danger, then sometimes miss judge the distance and still get hit and killed.
Just practice being more pro active with hitting it if you fall under this category.
Normally if I can dodge that all of a sudden insta-kill, I still have a chance that Prep procs, or if not have time to kite to build more disc.
