So, this is my hypothetical build, based on the couple of sets they showed at Blizzcon...
Please understand, I'm not really used to theorycrafting and this is my first foray into it.
The purpose of this build is quick T6/uber runs, not necessarily high GR.
This build is based entirely on the Bola with random multishot barrages.
Required items: Leonine Bow, Emimei's Duffel, RRG, Depth Diggers, the new set. (Anything with +disc is recommended)
Gems: Simplicity, Trapped, Bane of the Powerful
Passives: Cull the Weak, Archery, NightStalker, Awareness
Actives: Bolas - Iminent Doom,
Multishot - Arsenal
Companion - Wolf
Smoke Screen/Tumble (Personal preference)
Sentry - Polar Station
CA - LFB
Pros: Bolas are doing stupid damage, multishot screen clears beautifully
Cons: Gotta be closer to targets than M6, plus you might have issues with boss killing. (Not so much elite killing, but RG killing)
Thoughts?
(Apologies if this has been posted hundreds of times before, but this is my first foray into it, and it seems like at least a fun build that keeps you involved and not so passive)
I think that the sentry was originally picked as a means of crowd control (and to proc bane of trapped).
The companion - for 10 seconds damage burst (though as a hardcore player, I'd pick extra toughness from boar). And it can actually be discarded in favor of something else. Not sure what to stick in there, though... Some experimentations are needed, but the set isn't there for us to play with...
Completely correct. Polar Station is for CC for bane of the trapped, though with the set bonus reducing damage from enemies within 20 yards, might not need it. Not sure what to replace it with though.
Companion is for the burst, which I tend to keep on cooldown anyway. That burst can be the difference between life and death. (Boar is what I use when I feel like I need more toughness... IMO, almost a required skill for any DH build)
To Metju: Bane of the Trapped has such a nice damage to it though... But Zei's also does provide some CC with that lvl 25 bonus. I'd have to farm it up, which shouldn't be *too* difficult. Simp. Strength has to be there as well as Bane of the Powerful. Between the other two, needs some testing. My issue with prep-punishment is that it uses discipline in favor of hate... and discipline needs to be as high as possible for this build due to the set bonus.
I'm looking forward to trying this build out, nevertheless. Seems like a much friendlier build compared to what M6 will likely be... (that is, hugely hate wasting)
Ok, time to share what i've thopught durignt his period of time about the new generator set.
First of all - multishot or not. MS is an incredibly good skill, and has a huge aoe; i don't think we can actually pass over it.
However, i thought of another option that can cash into maximizing the set bonuses using only generators. The isea is to have a skill that excels in ST damage and another which does a good aoe damage. the choice falls onto Devouring arrow and Bolas - imminent Doom or the increased area rune (don't know which is more valuable actually).
Preparation with the +15 permanent max discipline is also a good choice to keep the damage bonus always high - good candidates for complementary skills are SS/Vault with the no cost runes, and rely more on LoH heals because we're going to have a way more active playstyle.
Items that synergize with the build - well, depth diggers are a must and simplicity strenghts also is needed to maximize the damage. the boplas quiver makes imminent doom a straght Bolas damage increase with no penalty.
but everything becomes a serious thing when you count in Buriza. We all know the Buriza+DA synergy - it simply becomes one of the hardest-hitting abilities of the game (we're talking Earthquake-like damage counting all bonuses); many don't know that Buriza also works on Bolas, basically making it hit 3 targets and exploding three times - istantly when coupled with the quiver.
I don't know if this alone suffices to MS damage, but sure as hell it does a lot of damage. maybe we can run with 2 generators and MS in the same build - DA is really good for that pesky rift guardian with a lot of hp.
shadow power/shadow glide. It is the most efficient tool for skimming big distances.
caltrops/Bait the trap is also a CC alternative against sentry, with added chc bonus. Usage is a bit different but I believe it is more suitable to new conditions.

That's interesting, but I'm not sure that DA can home back to the target it has already hit. And Bolas definitely can't. So Buriza will really shine only if there is a (small) crowd of mobs around. Thankfully, the 2.1.2 will update mob density in rifts and unless the patch introducing this new set will revert that, it will be hard to find yourself without those extra mobs in normal rifts... now, many (bounty) bosses will be an entirely different story, as will be the Grift RGs...
As an alternative, maybe Nat's crossbow + Nat's ring to get extra discipline (over 30 if have decent roll on xbow) and thus extra damage. Depending on how (Depth Diggers + Simplicity) and set damage buffs stack, those extra 30+ discipline might actually be preferable.
I think choice in weapon boils down to situation: In groups, Leonine's is preferable because that sucking mobs in can be huge and allows everyone else to deeps harder.
In solo play, Buriza might also become excellent.
Thanks for the idea about caltrops... I've personally never used the skill, but it would be a good choice, especially if it gives chc.
About DA route after bouncing, you're making me raise doubts. Anyway i'm pretty sure it works on singel target (like bosses) - an easy test can be done , i can get my buriza and look at DA behaviour. Anyway, it would be kinda pointless that DA couldn't turn back its route when there's only one target, it's actially its strongest point.
About bolas, i know that they don't multiply - but again, the point is to having both DA and Bloas to use repsectively on single target and aoe..
