Hey, I was just wanting to ask the community if I can get an authenticator that I can download on my PC. I know there are some I can use for my phone and other mobile devices but I would rather have one on my computer.
Yes, there is an unofficial authenticator for PC called Winauth. I'm using it at the moment and it works like a mobile authenticator. I'd suggest to get a physical one if delivery reaches your country, because even if Blizzard itself "approves" the use of this app, if something bad happens, they can't help you easily.
Remeber to save the config file of the application somewhere safe, because that's used to restore your PC authenticator if configurations bug out.
Well, it's surely safer and even supported by Blizzard itself to use the official app. Since for IOS and Android it's free, there is no reason to risk a malfunction with the unofficial Pc Version instead of downloading the app for your mobile device.
the whole idea of the authenticator is to have an extra independant layer of security, installing a pc version defeats the whole purpose...because if bad people gets access to the pc they get access to the authenticator aswell
whats wrong with the mobile authenticator? it's free...go to the app store.
You need to have a smart phone/tablet that is supported. For me it is no good since I do not even have a cell phone or a tablet. There not that many like me anymore but still I am not the only one without one.

Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.

While that is all true, a compromise is much more likely to just be an username and p/w compromise rather than a 'take control of pc' compromise, so while less than ideal, having a pc based authenticator is much more secure than none at all.

Also Windows Phone. So many companies ignore us, just thought I'd point out that Blizzard supports iOS, Android, and Windows Phone equally with their authenticator app.
It wasn't my intention to ignore Windows Phone. I don't follow the App market at all and i don't have access to a Mobile Auth because i'm running on Symbian and the Java Auth is no longer supported and downloadable

oh man, land before time status haha. Well I guess in that case..not sure what other alternatives are out there. I know WoW has the key chain thing..not sure if there is one for d3.

I used to but I got sick and tired of all the spam calls which ate in my minutes. Also I do not like being tied to the phone. I have more freedom since I do not have a cell phone. I also like the stares I get from people stating you do not have a cell phone. My Step Dad is the same when it comes to Cell phones. Guess I am an old geezer now . I also had for quite some time no landline as well. That was peaceful and quiet.
I did use the android app on the bluestacks on the pc when I first got D3 but stopped using it after a few month.
