For a game that has so little real competition between players and is largely based on individual achievement, people seem to be awfully concerned about what OTHER players are doing with their characters...
Until you can show proof that this "situation" is actually harming you or other people, there isn't a real reason to even worry about it. As long as it only has a measurable effect on the actual player and character participating in it, it shouldn't be on your radar.
very interesting views here. I do apologize for saying "exploit fans". But. you all got to admit lvling that fast is a little extreme. ether way to each his own I guess. Diablo is still lacking character creation. I mean. All it is about now is finding items. that's it. no skill tree or the ability to put points into main stats. granted, farming for items is 80% of the excitement. getting that kick ass leg. is a good feeling (now with 2.0 loot) but how long does that last. I have been watching stream after stream and honestly it looks boring man. And at most maybe a few months of fun that then back on the shelf it goes.
Maybe I just can't get over D2 and the totally different path they took. How many years ago did they tell us they were working on D3? 8? 9 years? more? I don't think so. it seems like they put a team together a few months before D3 was released and gave us this. This does not look like a game that has been in the works for a decade. lol. And now all these changes that should of been in this game from the beginning or at the very least. GIVEN to us threw patchs. Now we gotta pay?
Don't even get me started on the console. my god man. They released it for xbox 360, ps3. and they will not be releasing ROS for xbox, or ps3, (neither will confirm or deny this blizz says) only for PS4. OMFG. come on. at least give the console people that bought it for xbox,ps3 ROS jesus. nope. gotta buy PS4 if you want it. LMFAO...........i will stop there. sorry off track.
anyway. does any of this affect my game play. NOPE. will i get ROS. yes. why? Diablo has become such a huge part of my gaming for well over a decade that it wouldn't matter what crap they shoved in my face. If it has Diablo name. I want it. I'm sure i will get a few months of fun out of it.
If a player takes his time and go very slowly, reading everything, exploring everything and is simply slower than me and takes 10hs to get 1>60 and I don't stop to pick anything, don't check everything and rush as much as I can and level alone by myself doing the exact same acts and following the story and get to 1>60 in 5hs...Am I breaking the game? Am I not? I'm leveling twice as fast as someone else...is that powerleveling? Why is it not?
That's why your reasoning fails. You simply can't measure it. If the player uses a glitch or a bug, like finding a mob that in some situation or place gives more XP than Devs programed it to give or somehow manage to kill monsters way stronger than him without being able to be hit or immune, or glitching them in the scenary and so on...then that's abusing and should not be allowed, otherwise your argument doesn't hold water.
My reasoning fails according to someone who is only capable of run-on-sentences, but alright. Why does my argument not hold water? Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you failing to define power leveling yourself? Are you asking questions that somehow constitute as automatically refuting my argument?
If someone is watching all of the cinematics and taking a slow stroll through the game, of course it is likely they may take twice as long or more than a player who is mashing ESC and running to the next mob. However, I don't believe developers would consider "rushing" an exploit as opposed to gaining 40 levels in way under 10 minutes doing effortless nonsense. So just because someone who is taking their time takes half as long as someone (legitimately) "rushing" means that the latter is "power leveling" or questionably so? Compare that with whatever "method" is being used to gain 60 levels in 15 minutes if you feel lack of water in this argument. By the way, exponential XP gain is definitely quantifiable; you can measure it.
I somewhat agree with your 3rd sentence, final paragraph (example of an exploit). It is a more clear cut example of something clearly not intended in the game. Explain to me why a glitch like that should be removed if a player can use an even more efficient leveling method (i.e. the one that started this post) to achieve the same results. If you can level every class to 60 in one day using mentioned method, then IMHO that isabusing. If anything, I think the hardcore community should be concerned the most because it's more difficult by far to get a HC character from 1-60. Remember a lot of players make a defensive build to be able to more easily survive. Yes, people can die "power leveling" but as I'm sure you know there are various forms and ideas of "power leveling" and it sounds to me like 1-60 in 15 mins is generally risk free with low time investment.
And TK, I truly did read your post, I just didn't agree with the premise
That video is epic! I really hope they don't nerf powerleveling because really it's not that big of a deal.

your right. it really isn't that big a deal when you have infinity para lvls. one is still going to have to grind out para lvls. I seem to have warmed up to this pleveling. lol

I also apologize if my writing style didn't suit your mood but I can infer that it didn't detract the meaning of what i was trying to transmit in my post and neither your capability of understanding it, considering you replied.
Touching once again on my questions...the whole point with it that I'm trying to make: Both agree with my example of exploits simply because we can clearly see and understand the game wasn't programmed to work that way. A random mob around the world of Sanctuary isn't to simply become unable to deal damage to a hero just because it's stuck at some specific place in a very specific manner. That's what we both agree to be a glitch and abusing it IS detrimental to the game and community as a whole be it due to unfair advantage in XP gains, loot or whatever.
My whole point is that people being pleveled by a much higher player (what the vast majority of pleveling consist) while wearing a full set of +XP Gained is NOT against the game rules and is NOT against the Devs desires. You can disagree as much as you want, but it is what it is.
If Devs tought that wasn't fair game or if they didn't want that to happen, they could simply and easily put a hard cap in parties for XP gained: If you party with someone 3 Levels apart from yours both gain 0 XP. Simple. as. that.
It would be really, really simple to put a lock like that in place if being leveled by someone higher level than you was as egregious as you make it sound
Hope they keep it like this, boosted a buddy on T1 1-60 in 25ish min, i dont give a shit about the lvling, i wanna play my characters at max lvl not bore myself through 12-15hours of lvling
I don't disagree with methods to gain XP at a greater rate than normal, I ultimately disagree with being able to achieve max level in 15-30 minutes.
It does feel a bit meaningless if anyone can reach the max level so fast, for so little effort.
I think I read something recently about the WoW 60 dollar service to get to max level, one of the devs explaining they didn't want the effort that others put into leveling their characters to feel meaningless and "cheap".
I can kinda relate to that. I've personally put a ton of time into leveling my characters. Sometimes it definitely feels like I wasted precious "farming hours" doing that.
I do not really care about the farming or the leveling, I never did in any of the Diablo games. It was just fun for me in playing the game. DIII so far was the worst at least until loot 2.0 came along. It still is behind but not by much.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
I don't have a problem with people doing the described quick leveling to 60. I won't use it myself, but, if you want to do it, that's fine.
What I *do* have a problem with is people doing this then they come whining to the forums about being bored and having nothing to do. Don't skip over 50+ levels and then bitch about being bored. Was always my pet peeve in MMOs when people would level as fast as they could to max level, burn through all the raid content available, and then whine that the new expansion or the game had no content, while the average players who didn't do it that way weren't even halfway to max level yet.
So, use the powerlevel if you want, but don't come crying to us if you get bored because of it.
I would say my perspective is relative to that of the previous posters'.
Personally I enjoy leveling because it helps me explore different skill builds more inconsequentially and at a steady rate. That way when I reach max level, I have a better feel for what kind of build I want to strive for.
I am quite sure they just forgot to add a restriction for people to join Master/Torment. That is how they solved power leveling earlier, didn't they? They just didn't allow people to join other people's games if they haven't already unlocked the difficulty (I.E. A Player whose character just entered Nightmare was not permitted to join someone who was in Inferno at the time.
This is at least true in the console version. You have to beat Normal before unlocking Nightmare, Nightmare before Hell, and Hell before Inferno. Also, the MP system is different in that you can only use the first 3 levels (called Easy/Medium/Hard) until you have beaten the game with a character, at which point you unlock Master 1 through 5. I don't own the PC version, so I guess it's different there? Either way, this means that in the console version you have to go through the process of unlocking higher "MP" levels with a character initially, so you cannot use the powerleveling method until you've played through on your own. This means anyone who is "power leveling" has still done the story before at normal speed, so it's not like they are a brand new player who doesn't know anything about the game. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I can get a little bored with the story after playing through it so many times in a row to get to Inferno mode, and it's nice that there is a way I can get to the endgame faster on subsequent runs if I so desire.
