I would say my perspective is relative to that of the previous posters'.

Personally I enjoy leveling because it helps me explore different skill builds more inconsequentially and at a steady rate. That way when I reach max level, I have a better feel for what kind of build I want to strive for.

I don't disagree with methods to gain XP at a greater rate than normal, I ultimately disagree with being able to achieve max level in 15-30 minutes.

Yes it's quite easy to just copy the files and drop the items somewhere. It's just as simple for them to go online with those duped items without being penalized though, right? Or, are there "offline characters" and "online characters" for the console version, similar to how it was with D2?

So basically in my case, it's in my best interest to keep my gf's character on my PS profile as well. That would mean she would sign in as my guest when we play and be able to simultaneously use one of my characters on the account? I will be messing with it when I get the PS3 copy on Thursday. Thanks for helping me clarify a bit :)

It is a shame to hear that the items won't simply be BoP without the timer. I think it kind of hurts the trading system, but in turn it does make MF and item hunting all that much more important. Ultimately, I think that leaves more motivation to keep playing. Is it a necessary evil? I'm not so sure, but I guess we will see the experience for ourselves soon enough!

I'm not sure if you're allowed to post links to other websites here, but there are a few articles that do indeed confirm the ability to "one-time transfer" all of your D3 characters from PS3 to PS4 version. However, that's about all it says :P I've been itching for some new info to come by but I'm guessing I'll have to wait for 3/25 or another event.

It's a shame that duping is as easy as Baldur's Gate (import char/ export char) but I do very much hope it's not going to be so simple on the PS4 RoS. One can only hope :P but I plan on keeping it exclusive to split screen so I won't worry too much. I hear items will be bound on account now anyway, at least for PC version...still nobody was able to clarify for me if it was bind on equip or bind on pickup. I think I did read somewhere you are given a "trade timer" and allowed to only trade with people who were in your game when you found it...one of the things I am confused about.

If a player takes his time and go very slowly, reading everything, exploring everything and is simply slower than me and takes 10hs to get 1>60 and I don't stop to pick anything, don't check everything and rush as much as I can and level alone by myself doing the exact same acts and following the story and get to 1>60 in 5hs...Am I breaking the game? Am I not? I'm leveling twice as fast as someone else...is that powerleveling? Why is it not?

That's why your reasoning fails. You simply can't measure it. If the player uses a glitch or a bug, like finding a mob that in some situation or place gives more XP than Devs programed it to give or somehow manage to kill monsters way stronger than him without being able to be hit or immune, or glitching them in the scenary and so on...then that's abusing and should not be allowed, otherwise your argument doesn't hold water.
My reasoning fails according to someone who is only capable of run-on-sentences, but alright. Why does my argument not hold water? Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you failing to define power leveling yourself? Are you asking questions that somehow constitute as automatically refuting my argument?

If someone is watching all of the cinematics and taking a slow stroll through the game, of course it is likely they may take twice as long or more than a player who is mashing ESC and running to the next mob. However, I don't believe developers would consider "rushing" an exploit as opposed to gaining 40 levels in way under 10 minutes doing effortless nonsense. So just because someone who is taking their time takes half as long as someone (legitimately) "rushing" means that the latter is "power leveling" or questionably so? Compare that with whatever "method" is being used to gain 60 levels in 15 minutes if you feel lack of water in this argument. By the way, exponential XP gain is definitely quantifiable; you can measure it.

I somewhat agree with your 3rd sentence, final paragraph (example of an exploit). It is a more clear cut example of something clearly not intended in the game. Explain to me why a glitch like that should be removed if a player can use an even more efficient leveling method (i.e. the one that started this post) to achieve the same results. If you can level every class to 60 in one day using mentioned method, then IMHO that isabusing. If anything, I think the hardcore community should be concerned the most because it's more difficult by far to get a HC character from 1-60. Remember a lot of players make a defensive build to be able to more easily survive. Yes, people can die "power leveling" but as I'm sure you know there are various forms and ideas of "power leveling" and it sounds to me like 1-60 in 15 mins is generally risk free with low time investment.

And TK, I truly did read your post, I just didn't agree with the premise :)

Am I "power leveling"? What is it that I'm doing "against the game rules"? How do you measure what I'm doing and what you're doing if we're going the same route?
I even said it in my first post; if that's how people want to play the game then fine. If you wish to run the same screen for the same easy environmental dmg on a high lvl pack or have a high level friend run you through the same part 50 times in 3 hours for some XP and you're not holding your breath then good for you. Why not formally request a button to just click all the way to max lvl? It just deviates from the intention of the design. One could argue it discourages other player's in the way that they feel there is no true effort behind their accomplishments of building their character when someone can achieve somewhat similar results effortlessly. You might think, "who cares?", but for developers who dedicate all of their time to this they want it to be perfect for the community.

I don't believe that people will want to rush through the game or find it such a drag on their first few playthroughs, though a veteran may wish to get other classes to higher levels. Think of choosing a main or first class as some kind of commitment; it will take time to max level other mew characters. At least with Paragon 2.0, that won't be as true now.

It's also not a "bug", it's not even an "exploit", it's just creative use of game mechanics.
An exploit is generally using creativity to get results otherwise unattainable (or at a rate that is not otherwise possible) via other methods or intended design of gameplay/leveling. Now this is just my opinion, but I don't believe the developers intended for anyone to just pick up the game and hit top level in 15 minutes. People who are doing so are exploiting the leveling system by taking outside help to kill things they would never be able to kill even if they had 2 hours and unlimited health (just one example, granted). Sure you can power level in the previous titles or perhaps other ARPG's but you should consider the fact it is not the same group of people involved in all of these titles. Therefore, what is the logic in that reasoning? Power-leveling isn't exclusive to the franchise and it certainly isn't a "feature", imho, however there aren't many complex designs out there without a few holes in it somewhere.

Thanks for the response Jamoose! I figured it would be something along those lines. I noticed that not all games on the PS3 allow other players to sign into system profiles, but recently I have played Borderlands 2 on there and it does allow you to sign into a non-ps+ system profile. In any case, I'm not sure how the PS3 to PS4 transfer will work exactly. I'm more concerned that a non-online account won't be able to transfer the saves to PS4. I guess there will be no way of truly knowing until they release more information about it. I just am a bit discouraged because I have a hard time believing it will be so simple to perform the character transfers because of the possibility of duping save data.

Though my first Diablo experience was on Playstation 1, I've always loved Diablo 2 on PC and came to (more-so get hyped for) also enjoy Diablo 3. I had felt disheartened over a short period of time playing D3 (apparently as have a good amount of other people) but now am excited for these new features in RoS!

I already have the PC version of D3 (oooo collector's baby!) but I plan to continue my journey on Playstation. My main reason for this is because now my girlfriend lives with me and this is practically the perfect casual/hardcore co-op game. I'm just getting her into the right stuff (she got me Phantasy Star Online for Valentine's day, a lost title of my collection) so having to not build her a gaming laptop (for one game) and be able to play on the same screen is what I want. I'm super excited for the PS4 version. However, there is currently no release date and my best guess for best-case scenario would be ~June. I'm getting that hype all over again...so now I bought the PS3 version to start preparing my character for RoS on console.

--Now aside from all my babbling, my question is, do D3 players on console have to prepare for the expansion any differently than players on PC?--

Also for the few of you who may know, I'm confused as to if I'll be able to transfer my D3 PS3 characters on non-PS+ accounts. My account is PS+ but I don't yet have the game (it's currently being shipped) and don't know if my gf can split-screen with a character from my Playstation profile or if I need to make her an offline profile to make her own character. Thanks to anyone who can clarify on that, as somehow I feel like I'm in the wrong place asking that kind of question :P

I'd certainly agree that 15 minutes to lvl 60 is a problem. However, power leveling is nothing new and if players choose to dampen their game experience, so be it. It does kind of suck to know that someone can just create a max level character so quickly, even though they would need the resources to gear them and need to know the class build to make one off the bat. But ultimately, if you just play yourself and your friends, you won't have to come across the "n00b" half geared trying to run Torment. Sometimes random grouping is fun though if you just want a quick run.

That being said, I'm sure something will be done about it. It's not terribly difficult to implement power-leveling barricades.

Also, keep in mind that it's good people are pushing exploits like this because these are obviously the ones nobody wants to see on release. Imagine how many people would be pressured to insta-level to 70 if they could if it was "breaking news" on release. Reminds me when Burning Crusade came out and there were videos about someone who had their clan boost them to lvl 70 in a few hours the day it came out.

EDIT: WoW has guilds, not clans. Yeah...lol
