So the guy starts his mega-post by implying that "My opinions are more legitimate than yours because I have spent 1,800 hours playing this game," and he ends it by implying that "Blizzard always ignores its customers and is a terrible company".
Why doesn't he just quit playing?

A lot of the post is completely valid suggestions that most players would agree with (better minibosses, more meaningful low level loot, better skill damage display) but it's worded in a super-negative, almost whiny manner.
Some of it is hilariously unrealistic. For example, calling the game a failure because it's not 100% cheat- and bot-free is absurd. No computer system is 100% secure, especially not multiplayer games. Worse yet, the OP implies that anyone who has over a billion gold is a scammer or botter, and that's just stupid. A billion gold is worth at most $40 USD, there are people who have spent hundreds of $ just on the Hearthstone Beta, I'm sure the majority of multi-billion-gold spenders are real money spenders.

That was my feeling, almost word-for-word.
When I was reading about the "inconsistencies" I couldn't help thinking that nitpicky complaints like that are best served as direct feedback to Blizzard so they can potentially "fix" anything that's unintended and not as part of a 10,000-word manifesto as evidence that the game sucks.
Also I have trouble really ascribing to anything said by a guy who seems to believe he was slighted because he couldn't sell characters on the RMAH. Whether or not that was promised, it seems to reveal more about what his desires for the game truly are.

To me that kind of absolutism (only a Sith deals in absolutes) is representative of people who simply want to take a jab. The idea that Blizzard should just come up with some upgrade to Warden that detects and bans bots every 24 hours seems more like a suggestion posed by someone who knows what outcome they want but doesn't understand the process necessary to get there. To treat Warden like Norton Anti-Virus would require far more man-power than Blizzard would ever be willing to devote to the cause ... because man-hours are not free and resources are not infinite. This is the exact kind of problem that simply doesn't have a perfect solution and we can argue "good, better, best" all day long and probably have some productive discussion, but trying to say anything less than 100% is a failure is just thoroughly ignorant of all computer systems.
Ultimately, I think posts like this are why Blizzard has CMs to "filter" suggestions. Aside from having to read through his life's story to pick out the bits which are actually relevant, and trying to sort through superfluous narration and total lack of brevity, many of the suggestions are either handled in some manner (probably Loot 2.0 + AH removal, extending all legendaries up to 70), or are exceptionally minor (inconsistencies, etc.) or are things that would be great updates but are hardly game-breaking (skill damage display, better bosses). I think it's telling of the official forums that people think that it's some kind of must-read for the devs.
Frankly, reading through the responses, I'm convinced that 90% of people (at least on the official forums) who claim to have played D2 say it just to gain "cred" even though it's obviously untrue.
Wow. Well, I didn't garner all of that negativity from the post. I just thought he brought up some great points. Didn't read that much into it. I guess I'll just keep my thoughts to myself.

now now, no need to take it that far. It's a discussion piece so obviously you'll get agreements and disagreements. Myself, I only skimmed a bit so I can't say too much, I need more time to read it in depth. It looked like it was detailed, but I often become leery of posts that start with the long drawn out statements of how long they've been playing. They do tend to be the ones that act more entitled and feel like their voice means more than the guy who's only be playing a month or a day. Maybe I'll think different when I get a chance to sit down and give it a full read.
Pious and Shaggy both stated there were good ideas but didn't like the presentation. I wouldn't call that grounds for killing the thread or worrying about keeping your thoughts to yourself. Best thing you can do is throw in your own $0.02 and bring up the best parts you thought would be worth discussing or considering. Nothing wrong with that.
In short, don't get discouraged about sharing your ideas, that's what this place is for.
@Ethezial: DON'T! Voice your opinion. Don't be unheard.
Wow... all the negativity about his post surprises me. I think the reason why he perceives everything so negatively (and draws opposite conclusions to mine) is two-fold: 1) He made money out of D2 and D3. The AH is heaven for him, removing the AH will negatively affect his businness. 2) He's evaluating the current state of the game, and not looking into the future (he also mentions at the end that his post was written before the AH removal, but that wouldn't have changed a thing).
Example: The missing whale skat is absolutely true. In D2, you would search for white items to get them reimbursed by Charsi (mainly elite armors). But this is already gonna be fixed come the expansion when white and blue items become resources for crafting recipes (see GamesCom announcement).
I'm gonna read all of his post later, but I don't think declaring him a bitter whiner does him justice. He's exactly the opposite of my plays tyle, and I guess of many of yours: I'm a casual while he's a 24/7 gamer (just don't have the time anymore to play 30 hours a week at his age, no idea how he manages that). I'm mostly interested in self-found or trading with friends, he made use of trading and even earned a ton of money in D2. I'm playing solo or in groups just to kill monsters (PvE only), he was PKing, and for those of who you don't know what that is: his goal was to kill other players, eventually exactly what makes other people rage and kills the fun for some people (but strangely Blizzard was never entirely against PKing, although I'm glad they removed it in D3).
As for this guy: Man, I wish people would learn to get to the point with these things. The art of internet arguing has been around long enough that you'd think a 31 year old man would know how to get his point across without writing a book. It's just digression after digression. I mean, he spends several paragraphs on something that should amount to a one sentence bug report.
I mean, nothing wrong with reading a ton, but you better be damn near Hemingway quality if I'm going to read more than 3 pages.
As to his points, well some of them...erm...
Well, I think item dependence is good in a game where most of the effort is in getting items. The only builds that managed this feat in D2 were a small few namely Necromancer (Fishmancer) builds. A Meteorb sorc is way less effective without +skills on gear. A Zealadin with a CB on his weapon (and boots!) turned into a beast. He's arguing for something that barely existed.
A lot of his stuff seems rehashes of arguments of long ago.
Kinda weak chars all around for a guy who has played as much as he has... not really worth the read since he is mainly telling everyone his personal life which we don't care... he might have some good points, but negative attitude and lack of proper way to explain it made him look really noobish...

He sold all his gear. He's a trading tycoon and considers D2/D3 to be a business. Not my cup of tea but to each his own. But don't judge people so quickly...

Sure, to each his own, but I reserve the right to say this: people who see this game as a business shouldn't really be a factor when it comes to discuss which changes should be implemented. Why? Because they don't have the game's best interest at heart; they just want it in a state that can give them the most profit. And, with all due respect: fuck that.
Uma vénia para ti (one bow to you) Maka! couldn't have said it better!
Edit: i'll even quote you for that guy!

Well reading his replies in the thread I see what everyone is saying. He literally told someone they were wrong because he has 3x more elite kills than them. What a D-Bag. I will totally agree that after re-reading his post I see what you guys are talking about. I didn't read his Preface the first time. But after reading it. Uhh, who cares?
I'd like to get that Glowstick guys opinion on the game, he seems like a pretty cool guy. Not like this jerk.

It's quite lengthy, but all in all a brilliant post with some very keen insights on the game.
Delete my thread please.

This post brought to you by the coalition for people who agree with what PiousFlea just said.. *cough*
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I gotta get the silly out sometimes.
