I hurried home from work today, skipping my tuesday night golf league after anticipating this patch all day. I log in and play for 3 hours to find this:
-nothing seems any easier in act 2(loss in dps offset lesser dmg/health pools)
-gold drops seem to be a ton less than previous
-even worse drops and fewer rares than before the patch(not one rare till 5 stack buff-and i had 124% without the NV buff)(and the few drops I did get were lvl 50-59)
-Hello 20-30k repair bills(makes no sense to farm anything-I lose more gold than I make, and the drops are even more terrible than before so I cant even sell anything on the auction house)
This is very discouraging, wishing I had the previous patch back. At least then after 2 hours of play I had something to show for my time even if it was 30k gold. Now I play for 2 hours and after vendering all the junk and paying repairs i have even less gold then I started with, which sucks because it seems the AH is the only way to get any decent gear because it sure does not drop for me.
In conclusion, I still cannot get past magda and now im even more broke then before, looks like ill put all my blizzard games aside for now:(
I cant blame anyone for not wanting to play, I keep getting the same thing in game from all of my friends "hey man something doesnt seem right, this is worse than before, what are you noticing" seems everyone is feeling this way, sad because I love the game, and was so excited at the possibility that I was possibly going to get some gear not bought via the AH...then this, so sad
Well, as a barb, I'm still under geared, badly. Since I started playing (3rd day after the release), I've collected about 4.5 mil gold, spent about 1.5 of that in gear and my barb has: 800 resists, 10k DPS, 44k health, 1200 LoH.
I can farm act 1 Inferno. That is it.
1.0.3 came out, I tried to do A2, died a few times on champ packs, repaired for 15k a few times, lost gold on that o'course, found nothing worth of anything, and now I'm back trying A1.
I have the exact same feeling as you do. It seems to me that I'll be playing A1 for the next 6 months, until prices drop or something else changes, because I can't for the good of me make 100mil to spend on gear like some other folks do.
If it was not for gear in the AH, I would probably still be stuck in Nightmare.
I know, I cant seem to find anything even worthwhile to sell on the AH, let alone make any gold at this point, and farming act 1 for junk gear seems pointless at this point, for what 5k in junk gear and 20k in repairs. pass
Funny. Those who had given up on Inferno before are still whining, while my friends who thought it just needed a little tweak are happily farming Act 3 or 4 in the gear they used to do Act 2 in.
Good players adapt. Bad players whine. Figure out which one you are.

Would you mind posting your "good players" gear plz? I know what I have to buy / do, I just don't have the gold for it.

Why would you want to adapt to a game that isn't enjoyable. You Blizz fan boys are grinding my gears, you come into a thread where ten people are all saying the exact same thing, something along the lines of 'I feel like this game isn't fun any more'. You then call them bad players. Well done buddy, you just sent another 10 people to a different game. Now you might also think, good riddance to bad rubbish, well guess what, AH, RMAH, public games, all go to shit without the player base to support it.
Seriously sexton, slap yourself in the face, cause I can't be bothered doing it for you. Every forum thread I have read today says the same thing. Diablo III is not fun, it's a grind with no rewards. blizz has spent 10 yrs trying to make a 10 yr game, but they forgot to make a 1 year game in almost everyone's opinion.

Are you kidding? I've got 300-500 res, 9k armor, 11k dps, 45k hp, 175 LoH, and I've only died a handful of times so far. Before 1.03 I couldn't even get to the first wp without lots of deaths but now it is much easier. I also found some ok items to sell on the AH for 30k~ to help those repair bills, of which I think in all my deaths only concluded of around 30k (total). I've progressed up to the sewers.

How the hell can you be failing in Act 2 with those stats? I can farm act 3 with pretty much the same stats apart from certain elite packs with nasty affix combinations.
Well, I managed to get a pretty awesome item today. The rest was trash, but that's how it's been for weeks. Anyone expecting to see awesome loot on day one of the new patch is just being silly. Quit saying that loot is worse than before because it's not. It's the same loot, just with potentially better loot appearing in earlier acts.
My monk friend who, previously, couldn't progress at all in act 2, is finding it quite easy. My warrior friend, who has already killed Diablo, is finding it incredibly easier. And I'm not getting one-shot by everything in Act 3 anymore, even though I still only have about 21k health.
So, yes, acts 2-4 are much easier. If you disagree, you're clearly not gearing/playing the game properly.

Oh don't get me wrong, I could get 5 stacks of NVB and all, it is just a lot of trouble for it. But the damage spike is still high.
Before 1.0.3 I was basically one shotted. Shield, no shield, pants, no pants, lollipop, no lollipop, you name it, dead.
What I don't want to do is a "ranged" barb... **sigh** (hehehe)
In A1 I simply face roll everything dual wielding... Just saying, I enjoy that a bit more than die die die.

LOL @ "blizz fanboys are grinding your gears". On a side note, do I personally enjoy paying 25,000g for repairs? No. Will it make me more careful instead of zerging mobs instead of trying to play more defensively? Yes.
What everyone is failing to realize right now is how the increased repair bills will help the economy. Right now everyone is discouraged because they're probably saying "how in the hell am I going to save 8 million gold for a new piece of gear when I'm hardly making any profit". The good news is.... prices ARE GOING TO COME DOWN. When everyone has less net income, and higher expenses, things get cheaper.
Other than that... I'm not exactly happy about the IAS nerf since I lost about 10k dps, however the fact that I can get ilvl 63 gear from Act 2 makes me want to farm harder, especially since everything doesn't one shot you anymore.

You know what? Some people like the game because they fucking like it. Stop trying to paint everyone that is liking it as ass-kissing "fanboys".
Lots of people I know IRL love the game and can't wait to see where it goes from here. Crawl back under your rock and play your fucking Xbox with your fucking cheat codes so you can have it your way.

Maybe the build / game play style. I've been seriously considering getting a new shield, with more block / health / resists.

remember, act 1 can drop the ilvls that act2-4 can
