I had a thought, as I was perusing the skill builder trying to figure out what I would use for Inferno soloing and/or grouping as a Wizard. Will there be mechanics that are life-ending if the appropriate precautions aren't taken? This is Blizzard, and as an ex-raider in WoW I know it's not out of the realm of possibility.
For example, consider some random (potential) boss mechanics I can come up with off the top of my head:
1. Some sort of combo by a boss (not elite) that roots you in place and then punches you for 99-100% of your max hp.
2. A boss with a self-heal that you have to out-dps to eventually whittle him down (obviously only doable once you can do more damage than the HoT)
3. A boss that mass summons adds (like x16 skeleton kings adds)
4. Mass snaring/poisoning boss that puts a timer on your hp.
An effective counter I can think for the first mechanic mentioned on the Wizard would be Energy Armor runed into Force Armor (Max damage from a single hit can be no more than 35% of your max hp)
An interesting boss to 4-man would be a boss that combined all of these things. Hmm...
I'm just interested to hear what the community thinks about this.
What kinds of mechanics can you think of?
How will you circumvent them?
All indications are that while Inferno is going to be astonishingly hard, it'll be solo-able with near-perfect equipment, a strong class build, and a player that knows what they're doing.
I would expect bosses (and just as likely--maybe even more likely--rare monsters) to have abilities similar to the ones you're concerned about, but I also think that any player that meets the requirements above can overcome them.
I don't think the types of abilities you're concerned about will exist to a major extent because this is a 1-4 person ARPG meant to be solable and not a raid-centered MMO. Since there are fewer players and no party roles, that greatly limits how gimicky the boss fights can be, in my opinion, without feeling cheap when you fail. If I get beat because the guy does a lot of damage and my gear just isn't up to snuff, I want to go find better gear so I can beat him. If I die because he roots me in place and one-shots me because I don't have the feet-stapled-to-the-floor-immunity affix, I'm just going to be annoyed and feel cheated.
That being said, I expect different classes and skill builds will find more or less difficulty with certain mechanics, which may necessitate certain affixes to counter specific weaknesses. For example, if you're a Barbarian fighting a cold-based boss, slowed movement, slowed attack rate and Freeze might be real problems for you whereas a DH might just be able to backflip out of the way and stay at range.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
Are U sure Siegebreaker is cut out? Because I thought they only cut those unique death aminations in siege -event, but still kept the event (and Siegebraker).

In reference to insta-death boss mechanics. Scripted events like the Siegebreaker were cut because they were overly complicated to program.

You may be right. I'm really not sure...
