I've been reading a lot on this forum the last few days, and on the official forums.
It seems to me a lot of people are angry at Blizzard, for moving away from the
well working formula that was (and still is) Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 was an amazing game when it was released 12 years ago; yet people seem to think the game mechanics, for instance, shouldn't stray from the path that D2 curved.
Well I can see why they're afraid, after all, Blizzard are doing some radical changes. And changes are scary I admit.
That said, this is Blizzard we're talking about. They're responsible for World of warcraft, Star-Craft, Warcraft and the Diablo franchise. And The Lost Vikings, of course.
I know that these games, and even D2 wasn't made by the same exact employees, but this is still the same company that gave me, and you, so many great titles, and so much fun over the years, that I just don't understand where this antagonism is coming from.
You must think, all these people you see that are angry are actually very few. First off you're reading a forum, which very few diablo fans go to as it is. Secondly, yes D2 was an amazing game, and I can tell you right now how pissed I would be if they just RE MADE D2. It's Diablo 3. It's a new chapter in the franchise. It's not supposed to be like it's predecessors. Just like D2 wasn't anywhere NEAR D1 and yet was a success, D3 is nowhere near D2 and also will be a huge success.
I mean...It's one thing to say it. It's easy to say it. Whether your trust them or not, is irrelevant. Only the future will tell.

the people who have been playing diablo 2 for years (like me) complain about it because alot of things are just completely different. give it time after release..people will be satisfied

To be honest, there aran't many game companies that I trust this day and age. One of the last few is Blizzard.
And right now, the sequel to one of the greatest games ever made, is being made, by the same company.
If ANYONE can pull it off, it's them.
My feeling towards the company has definitely changed in the past 2-3 years. I still trust them, but overall I feel like they're heading downhill. Valve is definitely rapidly taking over the #1 company spot in my heart.

I for one, trust them, full-heartedly.

Sorry for any typos I probably had.
Diablo 3 is the best video game of all time. Mark my words.

I completely trust Blizzard, but most people from D2 are hoping for nostalgia. It's been so many years, I think D3 will be incredible despite how angry people want to get.
I'm 50/50. For a few things I'm a little cautious with D3, but for most things I'm looking forward to the changes. I mean, yeah some of the tedious things of D2 were great to flex my e-peen, but they weren't fun by any means. I did them because you had to do them.
I trust them to:
- Deliver me a good game, free patches with good support and no DLC garbage
I do not expect them to:
- Not think about making a profit first when designing their game
- Not thinking long term
- Make always perfect decisions
This is how I view Blizzard. It is a corporation which purpose is to make profit. Their motto is quality over quantity and they try to satisfy every strata of gamers from casuals to hardcore. They produce mainly online games and hope to bring a community together that will continue to buy Blizzard products.
If you think Blizzard is as bad as Bioware you are wrong, if you think it is a charity only thereto satisfy hardcore gamers needs you are also damn wrong.
I heard that that phrase is printed on all Beta Bucks.
But on topic, I believe in Blizzard. When I first heard about some changes in MoP, I thought that they were ruining the game(No I am not a Panda hater. I actually agreed with that). But after the press event last week, I became all psyched for the game. It looks and probably is awesome and can't wait to try it out myself. So I trust Blizzard to make their games to the best of their abilities. WoW is excluded in my eyes because they aren't given enough time in the world to make a proper game with the expansions. I also applaud them for making better games that expand upon the game better than CoD that switches developers every year.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
Like an above poster said, the people complaining are a very small minority. The worst thing is they sit there and complain and then buy the game anyways. All that stressing out over nothing just seems silly to me.

If they take what is clearly overwhelming support for a better UI and ignore it, then they will have lost me as a loyal customer.
Well cd projekt is really an exception I'd gladly give them money if they wanted but they keep giving things for free xD
