I'm sure everyone has already heard that blizz removed the scroll of comanion and forging http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/3967947023#1 , reasons were it still needed work and they were a little too cute for the overall feel of the game . And ultimately it would delay the realese . Here's where I get confused ( brace yourselves ) In Jays article he said the rune and skill systems were still being figured out blah blah blah , so if they're still balacning why could'nt they remove a pig replace it with a lil demon or that creepy little guy from harry potter (Dobbie or some @#$@ ) and leave the scroll ? Two reasons come to mind
1. , they're done with the rune/skill system and ready to release
2. , they are just leaving it out of retail , and will offer them at a later time via blizzard store etc .
I've skimmed the beta forums and the only real complaint i saw was that they were critters . so what gives ? Yeah , adding new animations for new compainions would take some time , but i'll bet my C.E. that blizzard has plenty of diffrent models they made in the beginning ( or at some point ) that they could fall back on
Whats every one else's thoughts ? Think this was a marketing ploy for blizz to make some extra $ or ????
Companion scrolls destroyed the need for "gold pick up radius". Some class skills were improved by this stat, though so it made it less attractive to get on an item.
Reforge scrolls made it unnecessary to re-roll items at the blacksmith for the perfect stats. You'd just use scrolls instead. They want you to spend money and materials on items at the blacksmith to keep the economy in check.
Blizz was not satisfied with the way the scrolls of companions were implemented. So Blizz has a choice: Redo them or leave them out. They decided to leave them out and might add them later.
What is there to ponder? Seems pretty straight forward.
It's not just the cutesy animals they wanted to replace, it was the entire mechanic of the Companion scroll that they wanted to improve. They must want to have companions do more than pick up gold. Who knows what they'll come up with.
Also, the Talisman was taken out of the game monthes ago, basically for the same reason: Wasn't cool enough.
It means that Blizz wants to release the game asap. They def don't want to delay the game into Q3, people will literally start protesting outside Blizz HQ with pitchforks and torches.
They want to leave everything like it is or just completely remove the mechanics that they're not 100% satisfied with...no redesigning, just polishing and testing. They might add some of the removed stuff in a patch when or if they are 100% satisfied with them. Jay's system update will probably be the last overhaul of mechanics before release.
I'm sure they only have the rune-, skill system and some stuff of the RMAH on their agenda. Everything ells will probably stay as it currently is.
