I read over the official beta patch 10 notes and saw that Intellect is the new primary stat for Witch Doctor and Wizard. However, after viewing beta footage on Youtube and browsing over the game guide at http://us.battle.net/d3/en/game/ (specifically the Witch Doctor active/passive skills) I noticed that all of the tooltips are showing 'Intelligence' instead of 'Intellect'. Granted, these two terms are synonymous, but this shows inconsistency - the beta patch notes show 'Intellect' and the actual beta footage and D3 website show 'Intelligence'. So which is it, Intellect or Intelligence?
Intellect, in most games, used to get your skills up faster, More int, faster learning.
Intellect is the minds capacity of knowledge and reason. Intelligence is the practical manifestation of knowledge to think in complex and pioneering ways. At its simplest, Intellect is knowing a lot of things, where intelligence is more about putting knowledge to use in an innovative, analytical, and practical ways.
Some people certainly have high intellect but low intelligence or perhaps vice versa. People who are highly successful on game shows such as "Jeopardy" demonstrate high intellect, because of the breadth of their knowledge. However, their intelligence may not be obvious even though they have a broad knowledge. I am not sure if Donald Trump is very knowledgeable about business (he relies on experts a lot), but he has very high intelligence in decision making and problem solving business opportunities to achieve his broad goals.

Huh? Intellect is the same thing as intelligence. It's the ability to reason, learn, understand, and solve problems. Wisdom is the ability to make judgements and could be considered part of intelligence. Knowledge is something completely different and is strictly about what you know. Intelligence/intellect is more like how you know, think, process knowledge, and put knowledge to use.
I've never heard of anyone referring to "intellect" specifically as your knowledge vs intelligence being something different.
I thought it was self explenatory.
If you watch beta patch 10 videos, the character attributes in the Inventory page displays it as Intelligence. It would seem the patch notes were labeled wrong for some odd reason.

Intellect is the capacity to solve problems
Intelligence is the capacity to apply intellect
x_x;;
In this sense it kinda makes sense that when you obtain +1 intellect, your intelligence rises o.o
